The PGA basically said they aren’t going back to bellerive. They didn’t like how easy the course played. They wanted the champion to be around -3 not -16

You’re just making stuff up. When was the last time any pga champ was at -3?? Not once in last 20 years

    dumbest post in a while

  2. This is a joke.  I had been worried for a while that evidence would come out to suggest non-consensual aspects of the actual sexual activity.

However, the lawyer for 1 (but not the other 2 "victims" since they didn't even want to pursue anything) comes out and publicly acknowledges that this whole thing boils down to photos.  So these dumb girls decide it is ok to get involved in a gangbang, but god forbid someone takes a photo, and then all hell breaks loose, including essentially the expulsion of all guys involved and not just the one who took the pic.

Imagine if the roles were reversed and one of the girls took a pic.  Any guy complaining would be laughed out of the Title 9 office if he complained.

SLU is going to get sued.  And i hope this girl realizes how unjust this punishment was.  Lawyers like Ms. Wessling put ideas in these girls heads that they are all victims.  Hopefully she counseled them on maybe not engaging in gangbangs again.

From what I've heard, the reason Goodwin was able to play was because he couldn't be identified by the girls. Now, what happened between now and then to drag him into this deal and was there some type of cover up from the get go? Because he wasn't even mentioned as the fourth player until today. Somebody in that department, team and coaching staff knows what really happened. I wonder if SLU's security department has a report they can release? Because if Goodwin was the fourth, but couldn't be identified that's odd and if it's another player, then something is fishy. I've been trying to wrap my head around tht one all evening. Am I way off?

You are way off.  Goodwin was identified but basically less involved in the activity than the others.  No one had a gripe with him.  But he was there for part of it.

no one did anything worthy of these consequences but he did even less

Board.  Correct me but wasn't September 27th the date of S2?  Middle of November is long after the 3 were suspended from games.  And Middle of November was long after the hearing officer was already appointed and actively handling the case - not Kratky.  Middle of the November, Kratky has her baby and may still be on maternity leave but women in her condition can still talk on the phone to her office and Dr. P - a month after her baby is born - when the case was put into the hands of SLU, especially when S2 and the events/hearing officer is probably the biggest case to have gone through her office.

Again, who suspended the 3 boys? and why?  I have to believe the suspension was by Dr. P based upon Kratky's recommendation and that the boys/Rosenblum were OK with this as well based -- see prior comments about "self imposed" punishment based upon perceived/expressed timeline of events (60 days and only pre-conference season affected).

Sorry, 3Bill, not buying whatever you are selling.

I’m not selling anything buddy.  Just find it a bit ludicrus for a bunch of people whose “inside information” comes from Adonis henriguez’s twitter feed to be speculating about the worth ethic and ability of one person in the legal department, who I don’t know myself.

I basically come to this board for entertainment to read the latest gossip about the bills.  Like my wife reading people magazine.  I find that very few, if any, people on this board have a clue.   Instead you all work yourself up all day long wondering what might be happening and resorting to crazy speculation.

  5. Rereading my prior message it see it was not too clear.

my point is only that the venom toward one lawyer who no one in this board knows is kind of ridiculous.   Yes the messsage was “misplaced” as someone pointed out but I’m not going to start a new thread to give this more attention than it deserves.

yes, pregnant women have to make sure things are in place such that jobs get done while they are out.  But who the hell here really knows what’s going on in the title 9 divions within slus legal department?  To call her out individually is wrong.

but feel free to blame the institution in general.  I agree.  Slu seems to suck at basically everything right now

  6. I've also heard through the legal community is that she was an honest and unbiased prosecutor.  So the anger toward her is displaced.   Particularly since she apparently just had a baby in mid-November. And if she was and is out (not sure if she's still out but probably) on maternity leave, then she shouldn't be personally blamed for this mess.

My guess is that her department is understaffed and underpaid and, with her gone, things might not be getting done as timely as they should.

Blame the administration, not someone who's got an 8 week old baby and would have been 9 months pregnant when this all blew up.

  7. For those who have Showtime, I highly recommend you watch the new documentary about the Baylor basketball program and the murder of Patrick Denehey.  Dave Bliss is about as sleazy as they come, and there are points in the film when you are wondering whether he is crazy or just plain evil.  Sad thing is he has been coaching for years despite what happened with that situation (although he just got fired after the film was aired), yet the DOB whistleblower could never find a job in basketball after this happened.  Coach K, Boeheim, and Sampson all interviewed and said they wouldn't hire the whistleblower.

Takeaway from the film ... most of these coaches cheat and it gets pretty ugly.

I will feel better about coach Ford staying a while once I hear he purchased a home in the St. Louis area.

Coach Ford has children in school and I think if he is going to settle in he would stick around until his children finish school.

In my opinion if coach Ford would not accept all BCS offers and would more likely wait for something he wants before moving again, of course I could be wrong.

He did purchase a home in St. Louis.  It is in Frontenac, I believe.

I wonder why he bothered posting his top three last night, and then committed today?

Huge!  Best local big man commitment since Matt Baniak.

That's the understatement of the year.  This guy is on a completely different level from Baniak.  This is the best verbal we've had since Larry Hughes.  And no big man since Ed Macauley even comes close.

    He'll be a McD's all american.

  10. Where is everyone getting this news that Pierre is off to nc state?. All I've seen is a report that he is a candidate for a position over there. And that report was from before Travis ford was announced as our hc

Pierre just went to NC State

  11. My initial reaction to this hire was disappointment. However, the more I read about ford the more I think this could be a great hire. He is a very good recruiter with a better track record on that front than anyone we have had in a long time. He's going to bring in some talent.

And he has some solid assistants. Hopefully they all come along. One of them, bill grier, was an assistant with Leon rice at gonzaga. For those who wanted rice, we now should have that gonzaga pedigree. And Grier has head coaching experience.

I'd like him to add a local guy who knows the St. Louis scene. Ideally Erwin claggett.

This past season was brutal for ford but he was dealing with several players having injuries. His resume before that was pretty impressive. He's been to the tourney almost as many times as our school has in its history. Everyone is wining that he only won one game but he still got there which is more than most of our past coaches did.

    Give him a chance

  12. People at Utah said the same thing about majerus. I take that with a grain of salt. The guy wins. I also don't trust anything said by uk alums about their coaches. Lots of misinformation

My wife's uncle and his wife are UK alums, former athletes there. Season ticket holders, still very connected. Their stories about Gillispie are horrifying. He sounds like a terrible person in every regard, and he was a complete trainwreck at UK, both as a coach and in his personal life.

Simply put, I'd rather rehire Crews than even interview Billy Gillispie.

  13. I don't think baniak was a business major. He was premed and may have dropped out of premed but I think his degree was psychology. I had several classes with him.

While school may not have hindered his bball career I do wonder if basketball kept him out of premed.

I think he has gotten too much credit on this board, like TheChosenOne says. He was a handful at SLU, to put it mildly. Major discipline and maturity issues. Any reconciliation between him and Romar happened later, and my guess is that it had to be Justin who realized he was a punk back then.

Baniak dropped the pre-med thing and transferred to the business school. As a Cook School of Business alum, let me say from experience that there's no way it was academic pressure that kept Baniak from developing more as a player. I think he works in the health field these days, but on the business side of things.

  14. Ok it is Ridiculous what I said but Slu's options for 2 scholarships are limited to 3 people now that jesperson is probably not coming here

You're right. There r only 3 possibilities to fill the two spots. Of course if there were others we would surely already know given that we are an all knowing message board.

And again you still don't know all the details about why drew is not returning. My guess is that none of us will ever hear the whole story

  15. Totally disagree on that Randy O follows Jared Drew Aka(Uncle Deuce). So I Highly think that he knows what happened. And i am really sure he was close to commiting to slu and now is nowhere close to commiting here.

This is all speculation and its pretty silly. You have no clue why drew was let go. You have no clue what the interest in onwuasor is like or what drew leaving will do to our recruiting of him. Ridiculous

  16. Again, jumping to worst case scenario conclusion without knowing all details. We don't know why this happened yet

The fact drew tweeted he didn't want to go and the fact this all takes place so late is enough to say if we do the right thing it does not happen. At least rickma could say it wasn't his player. This staff was here when drew signed. They found him recruited him begged him to be a billiken. Talked him into giving up a redshirt season. Now he will lose another season.

This is embarrassing and wrong and I hope is not going to be the norm for Jim Crews. I hoped for better and have to tell you after originally (last fall) being all against crews as our coach, after an amazing season and what seemed like a class performance off the court I came around to supporting crews.

But this sure doesn't stack up. I sincerely hope this stops now and there is no more of this b.s. IF this turns into an Apr issue, crews should be fired. However I suspect the reason crews waited this long was to make sure it wasn't going to be an Apr issue. Wouldn't that be ironic. The reason drew gets cut is because he HAD good grades. He would have gotten to stay at the school he wanted to be at if he would have tanked his classes.

  17. you got that right. i just found myself nodding to both ace and skip's posts.

    scum is scum

He's scum because he was an alcoholic and as a result he must be a cheater? Wow. U must make a great father with your holier than thou bs. Eustachy may be one of the top 5 coaches in all of college but we should conclude he's a cheater because he drank too much. Good logic

  18. I read that knight wants a school that has his major - kinesiology - which I don't believe slu has. That's a problem

Knight has visited other places and not here, so doesn't seem likely. There are reports that Saintil may go to prep school, also he has not visited here. Nothing seems to be shaking there. I don't believe they offered Strawberry, so it may not be an option. I'm just not thrilled with that one. I would be happy with Yacoubou, but haven't heard anything about him in nearly a month.

  19. If this guy chooses Miami Ohio over slu, then he's not the kind of player we want. That suggests to me he does not want to sit behind Jett and McCall for a year and he fails to appreciate the benefit he could get from doing so.

Otherwise I have no clue how you choose to play at a school that has been that bad for the last few years and in such a bad conference

  20. I agree with Roy on this one - if the kid is concerned about Crews having the job and choose elsewhere then he probably was going there anyway. Signing day is weeks away so there is no need to hurry their decision unless they want to - now I do understand that some colleges might be saying choose now or we pull the offer but if I was the kid I would say then you really do not want me.

You don't seem to understand recruiting. Coaches always tell kids who they want that they only have a certain amount of time to commit. Coaches have to do that so they can move on to the next option.

I have no clue if this situation is hurting us on the recruiting front. But I do know there is a lot of ammo out there for negative recruiting. And it could all be easily avoided. Does the president at other universities have to be in the country to when a basketball coach's hiring is announced?
