  1. THE GOOD PIE is located at 3137 olive street, directly across from BP station, next to UrbanTan Also we are steady working on the website, but the map should be located in the upper right hand corner of the site Thanks For the intrest -mike
  2. Please give us a try at The Good Pie, even closer to the arena than those listed. Wood fired pizza and good local beer, also NON smoking. Coach has become a big fan and has been back for pizza 3-4 times since we opened last Thursday. Here is a link to the web-site with the menu, a little about us and some good pictures of the place and some pies. We are trying very hard to be a neighborhood establishment and obviously we believe very much in the direction "mid-town alley" is headed. We have been busy considering we opened the day many students left but I would love to see some more of the hordes of folks headed to the area pre and post game stop in and try something new. The good pie offers table service, a selection of southern Italian wines and four local draft beers dived by schalfly (esb & kolsch) and o'fallon (5day and smoked) and full bar (within the the week) Sorry to be so shameless in my plug, but this is my first restaurant venture and we don't have an immense advertising budget to start. We will have pre and post game slu deals and since my beloved muskies don't come to town this year...maybe a free beer to all slu fans wearing colors beofre the udump flyers game I'm XU through and through but love being a part of the SLU community in midtown. The fans we have had come though have been great and I was taken a back at how personable Coach M, such a major name is cbb hoops, has been, even had a brief chance to talk hoops with him! I understand many of you have some traditions inplace for pre and post game, we just ask that you give us a shot to win you over. Thanks go bills michael randolph www.thegoodpie.com 3137 Olive Street 314-973-0446
  3. Just wanted to let everyone know that we are open for business and are right across the street from the new arena. Our pizzas are cooked in less than two mintues in our custom woodburing oven making the good pie a good, and quick option for a beer and a pie before or after a game. Please check us out, 3137 Olive Street, phone 289-9391 or at www.thegoodpie.com
  4. "Looks like ESPN is putting out rankings on where your school stands over the last 15 years. SLU comes in pretty far down the list tied at number 148. Not too bad, i guess, considering the lack of recent post season success. Our solid yearly RPI is probably what's keeping us in the top 150. Looks like X will get in the top 50, but that's it from the conference. " Umass in at 42 X will be top 20 dayton 168...I guess it's now official, nobody gives an arse what dayton accomplished in the 50-70's
  5. is it really a stretch to say marquette and depaul, both Catholic Universities have more alike with Slu and XU, than UC or louisville? No. State funded vs private, catholic vs state schools, 60,000 students or 5,ooo undergrads Point is there is no viable alternative for the likes of slu, x and even dayton outside of the A10, even though these schools are isolated from the rest of the league and face huge travel expenses and headaches. I'm just dreaming, X got a good look at the big east, but the choice for them in cincy was easy...uc basketball and football, there will always be rumours in the big east of the football/non football rift
  6. very true, nova's football team is d2 i think and its easy to forget temple has a team at all
  7. few, if any fan bases are content in the a10, as a X fan we figure to wait it out until the big east breaks along football lines. Many X fans are seemingly fascinated with the valley...sure they had a great season, two years ago, just not sure it better and is certainly not markedly better than the a10. Ideal situation... east g-town seton hall providence st joes st johns temple west Xavier Dayton Marquette ND SLU depaul a dream for sure but , it forms a league with two clear divisions, east and west, of similarly sized, like-minded universities Without the big east teams at play, the best you could do would be bring back parts of the mcc...x, butler, slu as well as creighton ext...
  8. of course, always pull for universities like Xavier, esp jesuit schools in the a10. Heck I may even give away free beer to slu fans before the dayton game....for sure a flyer free establishment!
  9. Born and raised on Xavier basketball, married a girl from StL and now here I am. Its a shame X doesn't head to StL This year and I think x - slu game has the makings of a "rivalry" I remember back in the day x vs slu, remember the championship game on your way out? Anyways its a shame, the a10 dropped the ball in developing this game into a rivalry. That siad X is long on rivals. I'm not sure which section of X fans This guy is talking about, but rather play slu then ud? please, like saying you'd rather beat the brewers than the cubs. X and dayton have played for the blackburn trophy for decades with both teams having long runs of sucess, but in the last 10 years X's success against ud, which used to be confined to cincinnati was expanded to UD arena and X continues to dominate sweeping ud in each regular season and tourney game the last 2 years, they haven't won in cincinnati since carter admin. This is a bitter rivarly predicated on history and proximity. That said, UD will always be #2 behind the crosstown shootout with UC, very clearly X's main rival. Beyond those two schools, take your pick of GW or StJoe, both of which X has been battling for titles for the past decade. Slu Could very easily become a rival with some planning by the a10, heck last years was the first X had won in stl for a long time...misleading stat...I was really looking forward to a saturday game so the X fans have a chance to travel in numbers, but no Not this year, what a shame on a side note, I'm opening a Pizzeria, (THE GOOD PIE -pizzeria napaletano), right by the new arena on Olive. So I hope many of you will give us a chance before and after the games..wood oven pizza and beer... Now with X not coming in town, I dont have to worry about making people mad flying the muskie flag. a10 needs to get a clue with this scheduling ... x and slu should play home and home EVERY year
