  1. Not sure if its because of Majok, just know he doesn't want to be here
  2. Jon Smith is suppose to be next in line to transfer..just rumor from an inside source
  3. I've watched the past 2-3 game interviews, it's terrible to hear the things that come out of his mouth. I've honestly never seen a coach throw their players under the bus like that. But I guess that's just how he is right?
  4. Then have the students get in free...But I would put a a crap load of money if we play a team from a different part of the country those fans wouldn't be there...The fact that you schedule two schools that in a close proximity to each other doesn't help you when your on a freakin CHRISTMAS BREAK
  5. After reading 6 pages of posts I thought I'd chime in. 1. Most schools (big basketball schools with exception duke) rarely have their large/loud sections during exams and breaks unless there are local kids in the stands. 2. SLU as we have mentioned lacks a fan base for almost any sport. Volleyball is ranked, and I bet more people outside the school went to the games then inside the school. Soccer in the past as it's been shown was top 10 in the nation every year in attendance. Baseball won 30 games last year, 2nd all time and is on the uprise and you could count the # of fans in the stands on your fingers! 3. For basketball, I blame the schedule to be honest. I am sure I am going to catch a lot of heat from this but lets be honest here, we haven't hosted 1 big time team in this 82$ million dollar arena! Besides Boston College who is a middle of the road ACC team if that. I know its hard because it would cost a lot for them to get a team in here, but honestly who the hell is gonna get excited for UMKC and the rest of the teams they played? If I was a student I'd rather watch the game on my T.V. than walk over to the arena and watch that poor competition. Until you have established a great team, fans aren't going to come to the game to watch bad competition, it's just facts. 4. I think everyone needs to calm down also when attacking students for not coming to the game, unless you live around the corner it's vacation ya'll, time to get away and relax!!! 5. I think SLU has done a good job in the past 3-4 years to get their name on the map, however in order to take it to the next level they need to do a lot more. They not only need to improve their marketing aspect but they also need to get more money poured in for booster on all levels. We have the arena and the soccer field, now you need to upgrade the other stuff. People like stadiums that have things, this starts with the Softball field and the Baseball field that stick out like sore thumbs. Baseball has improved a bit but nowhere near where it should be. And softball, has long ways to go. In the end, Don't panic hopefully it's just the beginning of vast improvements and hopefully the fan base shows improvements.
  6. After reading this I really don't blame him From Roy Williams radio Interview: It’s strange that it has gotten a heck of a lot attention, but the good news is that I haven’t had to pay too much attention to it. I haven’t heard it, but people are telling me about it. It was unfortunate. Just to tell you in my opinion what happened… Let me give you some background first. In New York City, when we played Ohio State, it was the absolute worst scenario that I’ve ever had to put up with. “A couple of guys about 10 feet from our bench screamed and yelled at us all night long. Yelled at our players and would say, ‘Deon Thompson – you stink.’ But they didn’t use the word ‘stink.’ Or ‘Dexter Strickland – you stink,’ but they didn’t use the word ‘stink.’ We had to listen to that garbage all night long and we had two different parents that sort of got a little disappointed, a little upset, could have gotten into a confrontation. The security guards did absolutely nothing and it really ticked me off. So I said, ‘I know we have to put up with that on the road, let’s just go.’ We didn’t say anything. Joe Holladay was sitting two or three feet from the guy, but we didn’t say anything whatsoever. “Saturday night, all of a sudden, some guy stands up and starts yelling at Deon and it came from behind our bench. And you know how when some things happen, you instantly think of something? My first thought was, ‘Now our parents are having to listen to somebody else, and it’s in our own building.’ And so I turned around and I said, ‘Who said that?’ And about 40-50-60-70-80 people started pointing up at this guy. The guy gets up and starts gyrating with his arms and everything like, ‘Yeah, it was me,’ and that kind of thing. And it really did tick me off. I turned and said something to the ushers behind the bench and they started up through there, and I turned around and coached the game. I have no idea what happened. I never turned around to the guy again. “But my feeling was immediately that our parents who sit right behind our bench have to put up with that stuff again in our own building. So that was it. And after the game, they told me that they had escorted the young man out. Supposedly what had happened was they had asked him for his ticket and he didn’t have a ticket or wasn’t supposed to be sitting in that seat. Supposedly, and I want to emphasis the word supposedly, he didn’t cooperate as much as they wanted, and they chose to take him out. “Am I disappointed in the whole thing? Yeah, I’m disappointed that it happened. I’m disappointed that I even reacted to it. But again, in our own building, I don’t think that parents ought to have to listen to somebody chastising their son. And whether that’s right or wrong, that’s the way I am. If it’s wrong, it’s wrong. I hate that it happened. I wish that it never happened. Evidently, people have been getting after us all day [on Monday] or getting after me all day. But I tell you what, if that’s the only thing they’ve got to get after me about, I’m a happy young man… If I’m wrong, then that’s good, but I’m not apologizing.”
  7. He looked drunk to me, you can see it the way he's swaying and could hardly walk.
  8. you clearly need to watch the video again or do more research before you make an assumption.
  9. No one will clearly know what he said, supposedly he was really drunk and went over board, not to mention it was dead quite in the Dome when it was said. I would think anyone would want their coach to defend his/her own players. I don't see anything wrong with this. Steve Kirschner, UNC's Associate Director of Athletics for Communications "First, Coach Williams did not instruct security to throw him out the building. He told security to find out if the fan had a ticket for that seat because Coach wanted to know how he got a seat in the section behind our bench. Second, security ejected the fan because they believed him to be intoxicated, something that our security and security staffs at arenas all over the country due regularly." Just sayin...
  10. I don't blame him, he has pride in the program and he protects his kids...Can't hate on that, he's won 2 championships in the past 5 years I think he can do what he wants.
  11. Yes but to play Kansas at home twice is nice, along with playing Ole Miss and U Ark at their place...Pretty solid schedule
  12. 25 wins? With a schedule like we have this year yes, however you put together a decent to strong schedule that'd be tough. You have to remember just because these kids are good in high school it's a big adjustment period. Granted we would be an upper class team with many JR's, it takes longer for the high school kids to adapt. Granted look at UNC's freshmen. but 25 wins would be nice
  13. According to the website the Baseball schedule is out. Should have high hopes for Bill's baseball this year. Strong lineup and lots of young depth, got a chance to watch one of their fall games this year, looked good. http://www.slubillikens.com/sports/m-baseb.../120809aab.html
  14. I actually disagree with you..If you look around the country and see big time programs they have big time stadiums and make a ton of money. College kids would love nothing more then sitting out in the sun drinking a beer...Not to mention, this is a BASEBALL CITY!!! I mean come on, if SLU improved that facility even by 20-30% this year and keep adding on, I'd promise you that it would bring in a tremendous revenue. For example, Ole Miss averages 4500 fans a game, you think thats enough for a good revenue? Granted we need to start winning some games, but you won't win any if you don't have the support, obv Coach Hendrickson is doing something right if he brought in a Top 100 class in..What is the school doing?
  15. So I know I am new to this site and have noticed most of it revolves around basketball which is understandable, however I was curious to see how many of you are excited about next year's team and the new additions to the team. Darin Hendrickson has brought in some of the top players from High School and Juco in the country to play for SLU. I for one expect something big in the next couple years out of this program..Just wondering what you guys thought as well?
