  1. way to go A Bomb, congrats and thanks for your service. I did my AIT at Fort Sill, OK and trained in Fire Direction Control. MOS was 13E20. spent 5 months in C&C Center in Nam with 2/33rd Arty as RTO. all the Arty officers I knew were great guys. however, casualty rate for Arty officers was pretty high as they spent a lot of their tour with infantry. 4 hours before I was supposed to report as forward observer with infantry, army changed my orders. we had a saying in nam that if you survived, the rest of your life was "gravy". i have come to believe that it was God's will that i made it.
  2. When and where did you serve? I was with the Big Red One in Nam. Dungeon Yankee was my radio call sign for a special two week mission.
  3. schedule a game in a recruit's home area? For example, BE is from the Detroit area and we are playing at Detroit this year. BC is from the Eugene area. Will RM attempt to schedule a game at Oregon to give BC's familily a chance to see him play? Any thoughts appreciated.
  4. the bills play 30 games excluding the postseason, that is, 26 regular season games plus 4 in the vegas tournamant. i understand a team can schedule 27 regular season games plus any games in an exempt tournamant. could they have scheduled 1 more regular season game if they had wanted to? and if so, why didn't they ? if not, why?
  5. hmm, last year i read how BE was listed too tall at 6'7''. now the implication is that his 6'6" listing is too short. this kind of stuff could lead a man to drink!!
  6. well, some people chase lisches and some chase lushes. in my more formidable days, i was among the latter.
  7. yep. word on the street is that he is a good passer and sets up others with pin point accuracy. However, he doesn't score very much or play any defense.
  8. I checked around and BE is listed at 6'6" on the StLtoday site. The rest are the same.
  9. listing all the players with their new (true) heights and weights? BTW, is there anyone on this board who thinks Chase Daniel is really 6' tall. I say at best 5'11" and probably 5'10"
  10. SLU among the "cream of the crop". All SLU grads should hold their head up high. Congrats
  11. If true, that would answer all my questions.
  12. Thanks. I understand that both Liberty and USC Upstate are home games, but don't count as part of the 27 game regular season maximum because both games are part of the exempt tournament. If all 4 games of the Las Vegas tournament are exempt, that gives the team the opportunity to play 31 games (in addition to their 2 exhibition games) before the conference playoffs start.
  13. If so, that means that there are potentially 3 open slots.
  14. It is my understanding that all Division 1 Men's BB teams are allowed a maximum of 27 regular season games plus any games played in an exempt tournamnet. The schedule on the home page of this site lists 16 regular season league games. The 4 tournament games appear to be USC Upstate, Liberty, DePaul, and either Creighton or Fresno State. There are 4 away games listed, i.e., SIU, Nebraska, IUPUI, and Detroit, and 3 home games listed, i.e., Samford, Kent State and Boston College. Thre are also rumors that we open with UMSL and play Missouri State. That leaves 2 open slots. Does anyone know who these other 2 might be? Or are my calculations wrong? If so, how?
  15. What's the word on his future? Where is he going? Or is he staying? He is one of the 4 that was mentioned as leaving.
  16. So if he goes to a junior college (either Vincennes or Indian Hills), he uses up one year of eligibility and then goes to a 4 year school with 2 years of eligibility remaining. If he goes to Div.1 UWGB, he sits out a year and has 3 years of eligibility remaining. Plus AT is at UWGB.
  17. Didn't RM say the heights listed for the Billiken BB players were inflated and that he was going to list everyone's true heights this coming year? If he does this, it wll be interesting to see the differnces, if any. I suspect BE will lose 2 inches.
  18. I also think it would be in RM's interest to have an African American assistant
  19. If he stayed and RM had 2 open schollies, would RM make him walk on? Again thinking out loud, any chance MR and AM stay and fill the open schollies. Stranger things have happened in sports.
  20. Thanks. When you say AM might stay at SLU, do you mean on BB scholie or as a non BB scholie student? There are a lot of possible ramifications if he stays. For example, if no other recruits are brought in, he could redshirt and see what happens in 09. Just thinking out loud.
  21. Does anyone know if these 2 guys have found a new home yet?
  22. I had the honor of being present when the military burried Lt. Blassie at JB a number of years ago. If you recall, Lt. Blassie was burried at the tomb of the unknown in Arlington until the military tested the DNA of the remains. Blassie will be the last ever in Arlington's tomb of the unknown. If you haven't visited Blassie's grave at JB, I suggest you do.
