Texas & OU to SEC will be more money but it's not solely a money grab.  B12 made an offer to both schools for a 1.5 share of revenue approximately $56/yr, up $18mil from recent.   That's about what SEC will dole out.  B12 has been reactionary and does not have the name recognition of the SEC brand.   So it's lead, follow or get out of the way time.  The top 12 of 13 most watched B12 games last season involved Texas and/or OU the other schools ratings were on AAC level.

B12 Commissioner, Bob Bowlsby just said during media days, "the motivations for realignment no longer exist."  A few days later this all started.  He's clueless.

This is the right move for Texas and OU it's proactive but it does likely impact the entirety of College Sports.  Now everyone else gets to figure it out for themselves.   Texas is no longer responsible for propping up TTU, Baylor, TCU etc.  They have to sink or swim on their own.

Does SLU and the A10 have the right leadership to navigate this change?

-do you know what has been the reaction to this 1.5 share offer in Ames, Lawrence, Lubbock, etc? are they just supposed to feel lucky to be in a league with OU and Tex?

-Does SLU and the A10 have the right leadership to navigate this change? - I sure hope so

    From Rivals on Friday:

"The athletic 6-foot-5 wing collected scholarship offers from Georgia, Kansas State, Ole Miss and Oklahoma State since the weekend. Prior to the live periods, he held offers from Houston, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and several mid-major programs.

Since the dead period ended at the start of June, Williams visited Houston, Oklahoma State and TCU. He plans to visit Texas A&M this week."

"Williams doesn’t plan to commit any time soon as he’s still waiting to see which schools recruit him throughout the summer. Relationships will play the biggest role in his decision. At the moment, he said Houston and Saint Louis have done the best job recruiting him. Kelvin Sampson and assistant Kellen Sampson built a strong relationship early on and impressed him on his recent visit. Saint Louis assistant Phil Forte, who came up through the same travel program as Williams, has played a big part in getting the Billikens in the mix."

I don't know how realistic it is, but I think it's an ideal setup if possible. Football at the top level is already walled off to the top conferences. Even if you go undefeated in one of the next five conferences, you're probably not getting a playoff shot. Just make it official. Bowls aren't run by the NCAA, either. Make big-time football its own thing, keep the NCAA Tournament intact.

-everything is about $$$$, I get it, but I hope some how, some way, if the 4 Conferences do split for football that every other school not in the 4C's does not play them in football, let them beat up on themselves and see how long they like that, my gosh Wake Forest can only play so many homecoming games in a season

-I realize won't happen, can't happen as those other schools need the paydays, but it would be neat to see

  4. -I get most of this conference jumping is about football but isn't the basketball tournament contract between CBS/Turner and the NCAA? I wonder if the lawyers at CBS were smart enough to put an escape in the contract that if something like 64 teams break from the NCAA the deal is void? it appears the current contract goes through the 2032 tourney, if it matters

-would those 64 football schools strike a deal with another provider, or even CBS, to have their own tourney? that would certainly have marketability but that leaves out the BEast and of course a lot of others

-of course, with Notre Dame there are currently 65 teams combined in the ACC, Big 10, SEC, Big 12 and Pac 12

-will be interesting to see how this develops

Thames did some work in the second quarter. Fought a crowd for an offensive rebound to get a second chance bucket. Put some pressure on the ball handler all the way down the floor to eventually force a turnover. Got his own rebound after a contested missed layup. Drew a foul on a shot fake. Effort stuff all over the floor. Up to 6 rebounds now. Kramer grabbed a couple more, too, and BBE is up 34-21 at half.

-this is wonderful, my gosh how often do we go flying for a shot fake? wish our guys used it more

Just a side note:  Rammer on the Press Box said he hasn't been told by Learfield whether or not they will be traveling to away basketball games.  Apparenlty Learfied hasn't made a decision yet, per Rammer.

-thanks, I have been wondering about that, they have some time to make the decision but on-site is soooo much better

Two Jones-related threads tied together in Twitter:

Basically this gives us depth and versatility in the backcourt. We still don't know if Williams will be given a waiver but we're deep either way. We can play a lot of different ways, give opposing defenses a lot of different looks. We'll be able to defend.

-appears we have the assets to do such, how they are deployed is the key

Fun video of Team Blue at practice.  Okoro jawin' at Robey is kind of neat.  It looks that Thatch Jr has been hitting the weights.

    -thanks for posting this

-guys seem to be working hard, that's great, November 9 will be here before we know it, excited for it

Slight tweak to the above schedule - Stu is reporting that the SIUC road game has been pushed back a season, to 2022-2023.

    1 hour ago, Pistol said:

We had SIUC on the schedule and it was bumped to next season. Not sure if that was driven by them or us or both. I assume it'll still be a road game when the series resumes, as that's what it would've been this season.

-thanks, guess I missed this over the holiday

    Rothstein's A10 Offseason Breakdown.

    https://collegehoopstoday.com/index.php/rothstein-files/atlantic-10-offseason-breakdown-2/

He picks the Bills 4th behind Bonnies, Spiders, and Rams.  Billikens scattered throughout his 'teams', highlighted by Perkins being POY.

-interesting he doesn't see Ryan Daley as a loss for StJ's

-my only issue with his projected order of finish is we will finish ahead of Richmond so I hope they finish second as that means we are first
