  1. say Duke somehow ended up with an rpi rank of 52 or so...I don't think they're NIT bound.
  2. I think it's more likely we're underachieving. That was our lineup last year and we did alright. Rickey Paulding is just now turning it on, Johnson lost his mid range shot, gardner and kleiza don't get nearly enough minutes, laurie isn't confident in his shot... There's a lot of confusion on the court. the past 3 games they've looked better though, so I'm hoping we're turning it around.
  3. That's very possible. I don't doubt that a top 50 rpi looks great come selection day- but i don't think they discount past good teams with average rpis.
  4. Some times you're dissapointed. It wasn't just tiger fans predicting them to do well. They're underachieving. They've been playing better lately, so we'll see how it goes. Any seed can make it to the final 4: we almost did it as a 12 seed.
  5. I totally agree with you about the matchups. I think that there are a lot of teams above both slu and mizzou that both teams could beat handily. That's why I say that rpi is not the end-all be all in tournament selection.
  6. I'll say they're a 7 seed, and hopefully we'll see you in the tourney.
  7. The discussion doesn't center on whether or not they're better than SLU, whether or not they're a quality win or not- it's whether or not they will be better than SLU in rpi come season's end. It is my contention that they will be.
  8. I'm not. But the season is long, and anything can happen. What will you say if we pile up wins vs. kansas and texas tech?
  9. They're 30 spots ahead of you in rpi right now, and they haven't played the big boys of their conference yet. They didn't play 4 teams as bad as you have.
  10. Kansas IS the top story in KC papers.
  11. Would you like me to comment on wins like that before they happen? right now oklahoma is a quality win that we have.
  12. Can't wait till it happens, what'll you say then roy? "maybe mckinney and grimes will decide to transfer to slu..."
  13. Do you want me to go back and find it? I believe it was you who said "SLU will be better than indiana by the time the season's over with. Mark it down." You said this when I was saying possible reasons for MU to not play SLU.
  14. I disagree with you. If it was a computer picking the teams, yes they would go solely by rpi and sos. It's people picking the teams though, and if you don't think teams get bonus credit for past years, then you're (to quote a favorite quote of the billikens.com board) "naive."
  15. Oh, don't worry about me- your jabs don't bother me. I root for a team who makes the tourney on a consistent basis.
  16. What's wrong with the logic that the selectors will look at a road win over a team ranked 13th as being a "quality win?"
  17. This is really a dumb argument. What does it matter where SLU comes on the news? My argument is that Mizzou has been traditionally a better basketball program, and as such, it's the top story.
  18. Howabout SLU vs. Indiana in rpi? Remember that prediction?
  19. I think that may be an exception to the norm.
  20. Funny how you guys list "treatment by SPUMAC fans" as your #1 reason for hating mizzou. Guess we can't all be as "nice" as you guys here at billikens.com.
  21. Not anymore. There's only so much you can say before the verdict comes down, and it's pretty much all been said.
  22. It's a different animal in college sports. I wouldn't be shocked to see that ohio state was the first thing on the news in cleveland or cincinatti, perhaps even dayton. I wouldn't be surprised to see Texas talked about first in Dallas or in Houston. The same thing goes for Mizzou- there are a large number of MU grads in St. Louis, and traditionally the tigers have had more success in collegiate athletics (besides soccer, but soccer is so ridiculously underrated in st. louis media that it's not worth discussing here), so it makes sense that often times they get the top billing. I can understand not wanting to hear about the chiefs or bears in st. louis before the rams, but with college sports it's entirely different. Most people in St. Louis probably wanted to hear about the Tigers #5 seed in the tourney over the billikens dissapointing end to a marvelous run. It depends on what's a "hot story" at the moment.
  23. Oklahoma was ranked 13th when we beat them at their court. Granted, they were on a slide, but that doesn't mean it was a guaranteed win, or a softy. Should you guys get bonus credit for losing to g-tech because they were in the midst of a winning streak?
  24. So you're as good as the coaches you're able to hire? I suppose Texas Tech is the best team in the big 12 then.
  25. Are you comparing conference USA and the big 12 again? even with those crap teams, the big 12 is STILL the 4th ranked conference, 1 slot above c-usa.
