  1. Very true. The tickets were shiny and pretty. I didn't look as far to see the plain white and boring schedule. I think that means I have the attention span of a kid on Christmas morning!
  2. Got the tickets in the mail today. The ticket logo has Cassity, Mitchell, Willie and PE across all the tickets like a poster. No individual photos on each ticket -- It is kind of a jigsaw puzzle look. No times on the tickets.
  3. Your points should never decrease. I think you may not gain "loyalty" points for consecutive years in the BC. When you go to buy them again, I think non-renewed seats and/or upgrades are determined by point status. BTW, I dropped from 4 tix to 2 this year too.
  4. thanks....I wondered about that but didn't want to "besmirch" his reputation by questioning academics. People around here are really sensitive to that.
  5. Nate: I take it you are a big fan of this signing? Hope you are right and "in coach I trust" until proven otherwise, I guess Perhaps I am just wary of expecting these late spring signings with lots of "interest" from name programs but only offers from IUPUI, Wright state, etc. If this guy is that good, why is he still unsigned? Just been told too many time that "he's a diamond in the rough."
  6. Remember the ESPN write up is by Paul Biancardi -- former recruiting assistant to RM. He may be a bit biased as I suspect he may have been involved in JJ's recruitment.
  7. Here is a discussion on Wright State's board. Interesting... seems Soderberg-like.... http://wrightstate.proboards.com/index.cgi...amp;thread=1532
  8. Remember that KL and TL's frosh and soph years, they had an all conference center in Ian. They didn't have that last year. this year you have freshmen (willie, conklin, etc) who had ups and downs. The team excelled this year when Barry had big games ...
  9. Their careers were "sacrificed" when Soderberg couldn't bring in solid recruiting classes after KL and TL.
  10. Not that Trey needs defending.... Looking at a bigger picture though, emotional people do have great highs but also can have lows. I know we all want to think that Willie's emotion is always a good thing. On the Court, it is enormously refreshing and contageous. However, I am not naive enough to think that RM or another player did something that Willie does not like that he would have the same emotion about it -- good or bad. I took the comment to be that Willie needs to better control his emotion which is legitimate point about most 18 year old kids but maybe a bigger point of emphasis for Willie.
  11. Please don't act like he swung an elbow like the kid from Michigan against Purdue. The ref approached the KU kid. Was there a bump -- yes. Was there a bit of an arm push by the kid -- perhaps. The ref should not have approached the kid -- unless it is an attempt to calm a situation or warn. In fact, good refs do this all the time. If there is an issue with a kid or increased physical play, pull him or offending players aside and calm the situation. If it is ignored, then T them up. Take your MU blinders off. I have neither a Tiger tail nor scream Rock chalk, Jayhawk.....
  12. My problem was the ref was not looking to defuse the situation. The original call may have been a foul -- i don't know. The ref knows the deal and approached the player not the other way around. A refs job is to defuse -- not escalate. Its my problem with MLB umpires too....
  13. No offense Box, really! But SLU may not want to have the lead in to SLU basketball as we are interrupting 3 straight hours of the Backstreet Boys/ Clay Aiken singing Christmas tunes for Billiken Basketball!!! Put our games on local access and we have reached the promised land!!!! Ooops, that would be better TV... Wahoo! Billiken basketball -- Catch the fever! SLU needs to get something done, immediately, if not sooner.
  14. 101.1 doesn't go to a sports format until January 1, 2009.
  15. How do you think this SLU team would do against that type of schedule? Biondi and SLU can't afford a clunker of a season. Can you imagine the terrible PR from another 9-21 season? As it is, i suspect the Bills are +/- 2 wins of a .500 team due to the frosh and quality road games.
  16. Most of the better competition is on the road . . . SIU, Creighton, DePaul, Nebraska. I agree with local patsies SEMO, UMKC vs. NC A&T, etc. The next question is what do you expect SLU to do against this terrible schedule? Iggy posted in another thread 16-16. I think it could be as high as 20-14 to 14-20. Not good or post season worthy under most scenarios. Honestly, RM probably doesn't know what to expect this year. Are people upset that there are bad teams on the schedule because its going to ruin post season aspirations or because they had to pay more $ this year for tickets. My feeling is the latter. But building a program takes time. RM's first recruits haven't taken the floor yet. The next couple years will tell the tale of whether RM and SLU are on the right track.
  17. I'm really done with this. I don't know the guy from Adam. If he did it again, throw the guy under the bus and he deserves what he got. I have never said he's blameless. SLU wants contrition.
  18. fair enough. As they say, that's why we have judges and juries!
  19. I noted in an earlier post that according to the actual court papers which i read. he registered a non profit company called "The University News, a student voice servicing Saint Louis University since 1921." That is the allegation. By saying "servicing Saint Louis University," SLU claims that it gives the impression that SLU sanctioned it. Regardless, he withdrew it three months later after being threatened with a lawsuit by SLU. was it wrong? Yes. I have said it repeatedly. However, SLU doesn't feel it is such an affront as to fire him and face the consequences of fighting the tenure system. I would assume there would be exceptions to the tenure system if there is really "theft deliberate misuse of school property." As a lawyer who has handled these type claims as part of my practice, it seems extraordinary measures for very little real gain. So I ask: What is really the objective of this lawsuit? I can guarantee you Meyer doesn't have the $ on hand. Is SLU going to garnish his wages? place a lien on his home or retirement fund? Most everyone doesn't have insurance to cover this type of loss. This case isn't about money or infringement. Its about whose "member" is bigger.
  20. I would strongly disagree that SLU would have a recognizable legal interest in a generic and commonly used phrase such as "university news." If SLU were really interested in protecting its property, they would be suing every college across the country who uses similar type "marks." The fact that they haven't would suggest that they don't have one to begin with or have abandoned it by selective enforcement. you are correct about state vs. federal court. However, if he relented after a cease and desist letter, why file a lawsuit? what's the best remedy for SLU? A permanent injuction to keep Meyer out of the newspaper? getting attorneys fees from a tenured professor? At what cost to PR, good will with faculty, alumni, area?
  21. I agree he went to far. But what is the point of the lawsuit -- what is SLU seeking other than a pound of flesh? (sorry brian -- another lazy metaphor/allusion to Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice) Okay, from what i've seen he's relented and withdrew the corporation that he set up. Should he be out as an "unofficial advisor" and not allowed to voluntarily help students? I guess but how do you effectively do that. Security to keep him out? Have Biondi follow him around on his golf cart to make sure he stays out of newspaper office? SLU chose a federal lawsuit. In my opinion, the worst of all possible options because it makes a bad situation worse. It creates headlines, blogs such as this and bad will. Tonka -- I agree Ego is driving this whole issue. But takes two stubborn and ego driven people to get where we are. Toss in a mess of bad decisions on both sides and here you go. At the end of the day, all of this could probably be handled internally but SLU (and their lawyers) felt that bullying with a federal lawsuit was the way to go.
  22. You are correct. Biondi hasn't murdered people. Metaphors and similies are "intellectually lazy" literary devices. Meyer registered for a nonprofit corporation entitled "The University News, a student voice servicing Saint Louis University since 1921." He dissolved it 3-4 months after creating it after getting a "cease and desist" letter. The problem was remedied. The rest at this point is ego. He can't do it directly because Meyer is tenured. The lawsuit is not about the U News. Its about putting opponents of Biondi on notice that he will use the power of SLU to destroy you if you take him on. I would say that he is leaving the head of a traitor by the clock tower to keep faculty in line but I guess that is intellectually lazy.....
  23. Then you must not be looking very closely. He has truly transformed SLU. He doubled the size of the campus and it hardly is reminiscent of the commuter school from the 80s. Don't kid yourself into thinking that there aren't as many "dead bodies" as fountains on campus. Many think he sold SLU's Catholic soul when he chose Tenat over SSM for the hospital and for TIF money for the new arena.
  24. no it was not trademarked, service marked or otherwise. SLU claims Meyer was creating the illusion that he was treading on SLU's good name and reputation for his own personal gain.
  25. That is what "cease and desist letters" are for. It happens everyday in patent, trademark, trade secret cases. SLU sent one and Meyer withdrew. What is the purpose of a lawsuit? To remedy a wrong and not to set precedents.... at least so sayeth countless professors from SLU Law. In this case, the wrong has been remedied. The PR hit is tremendous. FWIW, I have never heard on Avis Meyer before this whole process. I got curious and read the lawsuit and court docs. If this isn't retaliatory, i don't know what is.
