some of the discussion on this board is almost ridiculous in my mind. A-10 vs. Mo Valley - there's no comparison. just check the conference ratings for the past ten years. with the addition of SLU and Charlotte and the loss of two of the crappy teams, the conference will be solid - not much different than CUSA has been for the past few years. let's keep in mind that up until this past year, CUSA wasn't even that good. cincy was the only consistent team. louisville, marquette, and memphis just started developing in the past year or so. and the bottom half of the conference is crap. i see the A-10 as a good place to be. the geography is kind of screwed up, but all the conferences are screwed up geography-wise.

the arena vs. a practice facility. i don't think you people understand - the money will be there. it will be completely funded by donations. there will be practice facilities inside. so why would it be better to accept less donations and buy something that will be inside our new arena. there really is no argument. i understand that there will be upkeep costs but the argument that it will be outdated in ten years is ludicrous. some of the best on-campus arenas in the nation have been around forever - look at carolina, ucla, ku, etc. school arenas can last for a half century. the kiel center people complained about after a few years because it was built to accomodate so many things other than basketball, just like the bradley center. an on-campus arena will not pose that problem.

yes, the savvis center has been great for the past few years, but so was the arena before that and the kiel center before that. that doesn't mean change is a bad thing.

i for one am very excited about things. as for the bitterness toward marquette, there's no reason for it; however, there's also no reason for mu fans to adopt the notre dame complex. read my post below if you want to know how i really feel about marquette. respond if you like, b-law. i don't want to attack - just want to open some of your eyes just like you try to open our eyes.

This is a message board. People say off-the-wall stuff. Might you be overracting to comments of others?

>>i don't think you people understand - the money will be there. it will be completely funded by donations.<<

What is your source for that statement? Several articles have stated in the past that the university shall have a large bond issuance ($20 to $25 mill range) to complete funding on the new on-campus arena.

I'm not against borrowing the money to make this happen but let's not ignore the facts.
