Schasz
I guess that we will have to see what ramifications that will have with our Billiken, CUSA, and what's become conferencegate.
SLUNATE
well Big East roundup....BC is out....Marquette, DePaul and L-ville are in, Hazelwood East got a bid to join as a football only school in other conference shuffling news...the signguy got a bid from the A-10, Billiken Roy and the Torch are off to the sun belt, and I'm joining the Horizon league provided all the schools adopt Jai Alai as a scholarship sport. jjray
With another top football school leaving, it gets harder and harder for the Big East to hold together its unholy alliance of football -- basketball schools. It also diminishes the probability that the Big East remains a BCS conference at the end of the current contract in 2005. Here is some interesting news as well--the BE TV contract (which goes through 2007) does have a "composition clause" which means the network pays reduced fees when the big names drop out: "The TV contract, which has been signed with ABC/ESPN in football and with ABC/ESPN and CBS in basketball through 2007, does contain a composition clause, meaning the possibility exists that the league could have fewer games televised and less money generated from TV because the conference has changed since contracts were signed." http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/tribune-re...f/s_142568.html
Schasz
With what they have left...W. VA, Pitt, Syracuse, Temple, and Rutgers, it's a given that the networks won't be clamoring for the games even after you add those two CUSA football powerhouses into the mix this house of cards is crumbling fast.
