Billikens Change Two Savvis Dates to Saturday Nights

Cincinnati on Jan. 8, and Charlotte on Feb. 12, will be night games.

Dec. 13, 2004

St. Louis - Saint Louis Billikens director of athletics Cheryl L. Levick today announced that two Conference USA men's basketball Saturday afternoon games have been rescheduled for night tip-offs at Savvis Center. The Billikens will now face C-USA contenders Cincinnati and Charlotte in the more highly desirable Saturday evening time slot.

The Cincinnati game on Sat., Jan. 8, will begin at 7:10 p.m., and the Charlotte contest on Sat., Feb. 12 will start at 7:30 p.m. The night dates became available as a result of the National Hockey League lockout. Savvis is also home to the St. Louis Blues hockey team.

"Savvis Center management has been extremely gracious in arranging for these night games, which impact our fans so positively," Levick said. "Although our fans have loyally attended the afternoon games, we have received plenty of feedback over the course of time that Saturday night events conflict less with family activities and individual work schedules. We're pleased to be able to move two high-quality opponents into a more attractive time frame."

As a result, four of the Billikens' eight C-USA home dates this season will be played on Saturday nights. The two other Saturday night contests are TCU on Jan. 22, and DePaul on Feb. 5.
