As soon as the Bills game is over, I'm hopping on BART to the Oakland Arena to see Santa Clara take on UNC and Stanford vs. USF in the Pete Newell Challenge. alameda bob Posted November 23, 2004 Author Share Posted November 23, 2004 The little Catholic schools did themselves proud Friday night. Santa Clara outplayed #4 North Carolina the whole game. They were up by 19 and wound up winning by 11. The University of San Francisco lost to Stanford by 10 in OT. But they had a shot at the buzzer to win and missed it. So if you saw the final scores in the small print in Sats. paper it didn't tell the story. Both were great games for fans who were neutral and wanted to see some great hoops.
