  1. They have a program where they let students get real experience in marketing. I think the marketing is pretty decent all things considered. The guys that told me that worked doing events and marketing through their time at SLU. Said it was a great experience. Have to learn somewhere.
  2. I've been told by guys at Chaifetz that marketing is done by students and that they are learning that's why it's so hit and miss.
  3. It's a division one program! Division one! If SLUH down the road has a better baseball field than the college that's an embarrassment and an epic fail. Chaifetz is much nicer than Scottrade. I'm sorry but MBB didn't fill the arena like you think even when they were going to NCAA with majerus running the show. Ford's teams will be better but they haven't done anything just yet. It's the perfect size. How do other schools raise money? You assume because people at SLU can't raise money, then it can't be done at all and that's just the way it is. Wow.
  4. Merit a field? The fact that program is even competitive in a private school environment like SLU is a miracle in itself! That field is terrible and I'll bet in last ten years baseball has best winning percentage of any other program in that span. Not certain but if I had to bet money I'd say that's true. Again you have a well run program, and a dump next to Chaifetz. SLU should do it out of pride if anything else.
  5. Stories like this one drive home the point. It just seems like SLU just can't get its act together and just hopes men's basketball is good, makes the tournament and that's good enough. Seems to be overall approach and it's just sad. Too many people care and donate money to have it wasted. Plus we never talk about the students experience. Funny story about the cages. Are those the same cages that are over on left field side of field now? Again another crap project and eye sore. Thanks for the insight, just wish SLU could get it together one day.
  6. You really did a much better job articulating what I was trying to from the beginning . SLU needs facilities that are really nice, not gigantic stadiums and well thought out across the board. The skyline, next to the arena is awesome and should be used as a better selling point. Need facilities to complement Chaifetz not take away. The indoor hitting cages don't have running water or AC. It's just basically a garage with cages inside and not that nice at all. Heard it cost in the neighborhood of $400K???? IF this is true and AD signed off, I rest my case. Again great post prebilliken and 05.
  7. I've met Hines a few times, very nice and a class act.
  8. I agree! Not trying to beat a dead horse but if we just had Lindenwoods facilities with Chaifetz it'd be awesome. Raise the bar across the department to want to be first class division one program. Thanks
  9. I didn't intend to make this an I don't like AD rant. If he is responsible for raising money for facilities the results are right in open to judge for yourself. Great point about bigger picture and president caring. AD is just a puppet and ultimately president has total control over all things athletics in the end. Thanks
  10. What I meant is I don't know the guy personally, he really doesn't give you a reason to want to get to know him. That was my point, just giving my opinion. He could be the greatest person alive, but if he can't raise money that hurts the program at the end of the day. My experience with the guy is that he thinks he's a big deal and it's a privilege you get his time at all. Just want to see whole program get better and on par with some area high schools at the very least. I mean it's just a division one program, not that big of deal. Right? We should expect more across the board. Thanks
  11. I totally meant no disrespect to you at all and I agree with sure you treat big donors different. But the guy just seems like a creep. I just think if your going to be in a job like his you should at least be smart enough to fake people into thinking you are nice. Heck, imagine if you were really nice for real? Again, I don't know the guy just what I've seen and experienced leaves me not impressed. If he really is responsible to raise all the money for athletics SLU should and can do better. Thanks
  12. AD is a weirdo. I doubt the dude played sports at all, watch the guy at a basketball game and he's like a soccer mom. I thought university has people that raise money for big stuff like stadiums and pools. If they leave it to AD and he just lets coaches do it no wonder the place looks like a dump outside of Chaifetz. I really don't know AD just being around him various times while in school and afterwards he always gave me the feeling if you aren't important I don't have time for you type vibe. Probably why no one gives program money. Thanks
  13. Lindenwood is division two and has a better baseball field. Did they go to South Carolina for a regional televised on ESPN? As far as soccer, the AD can't give lip service about competition for championships and try and expect the coaches to recruit to SLU with that soccer set up. It's not even fenced in and they charge money??? It's wide open! Look at a Louisville and Creighton. SLU doesn't have a chance. Again why do area high schools have nicer facilities than a division one program? If AD can't raise money, get SLUH AD then because he figured out a way in St Louis to get things built.
  14. Hello everyone, first ever post! Who is responsible for raising money to build stadiums for athletics? Is it the university or athletics? I was back on campus recently and the baseball, soccer and softball fields still suck. Not even as nice as some area high school fields. If it's university I get they have money problems, if it's athletics I blame AD. Either the dude doesn't care or can't get donations either way that's bad. University didn't always have money problems and AD has been there a while. Has to be disconnect somewhere. Just wondering how no one is doing something about it when there are so many examples of high schools in area with better facilities than the only division one school in St. Louis. Thanks!
