  1. I spoke with someone on the phone who told me I would get tickets for the CBI in my season seats. I paid for them and was told to pick them up between1-6 today. I just picked them up, and the girl at the ticket office told me they were general admission tickets but that my season seats would be reserved for me for the game. After I told her that it didn't make any sense she got someone who told me that all seats other than blue/gold are general admission on a first come first serve basis. They were $10. If you call up and someone tells you anything other than they are selling blue/gold and gen ad tickets, they don't know what they are talking about. They seemed kinda clueless when I was there.

  2. I dont know how much truth there is to this but I just heard from a season ticket holder that he tried to get his same seats that he's had all year for tomorrow's game and he was told that there are 10,000 seats reserved and the rest are all general admission. Hard to believe this is the case but that's what I heard hopefully not true.

I am a season ticket holder. Just called up and paid for CBI tickets and can pick them up today between 1-6. I had the option to keep my tickets behind the basket or could have gotten center court tickets a little higher up. Stuck with my seats that I've had all year.

  3. Despite my defense of this year's non-conference schedule, I think we can all agree that next year's schedule should be tougher. Here is what we already know to be a part of the schedule

We will likely only have 13 non-confernece games as I believe the rule is you can have 10 games plus one tourney (there are occasionaly exceptions so maybe there could be one more). I tried searching the internet to confirm that rule but couldn't find anything.

Home: Georgia (they should be decent)

    Home: Bowling Green (nothing special)

Away: MSU (always tough to win there)

Away: SIU (always tough to win there)

3 games in the Cancun tourney. It is a true tournament style and would expect 2 of them to be against name opponents and all of them will be tough. ESPN is sponsoring the tourney so most if not all of the games should be on t.v. over Christmas.

That is 7 games right there, so we only need 6 more. Assuming they still want to charge $450 for season tickets at $25 per game, that implies 18 home games. 8 conference games plus 2 exhibition games means you need 8 non-conference games. As you can see above, only 2 are accounted for. If you had 6 buy games that would get you the 18 games you need.

If you do 4 buy games and start two more home and homes, presumably with good teams, it will significantly improve your schedule strength but we will only have 17 home games. I'm not sure SLU is too anxious to give up $150k in revenue (6,000 x $25 = $150k) by scheduling the extra game away from the Chaifetz and charging only $425 for season tics. Would season ticketholders still be willing to pay $450 for only 17 games this year? So in addition to thinking about whether we can get anyone to actually put us on the schedule, people need to realize there are significant financial ramifications from adding additional home and away series.

All that being said, I expect us to add at least one more home and away and hopefully two which would give us a schedule of 9 non-buy games and 4 buy games.

What are buy games? Never heard of them.

  4. You are 50% right there. He was too hesitant to shoot his first year and a half. However, since he stepped on the court he has been one of our most sound players, fundamentally. He plays good defense, doesn't avoid contact, our best rebounding guard, and was our #1 option for pressure ballhandling. I'm sure if you looked at his assists to turnovers you'd also note the lack of consistent mistakes.

He definetly improved his assist to turnover ratio in the second half. Before January 1, he was nearly 1:1, after he was nearly 2:1. He showed a big improvement as the season went on. He is by far our best rebounding guard and that has come a long way from last season.

  5. I was about even between Cory and Jon. I think Cory might be the most important guy to the team if we do not have any further recruits coming in. He can develop into the banger we need with a nice little jumper to boot.

Cory definetly needs to work on becoming quicker with his jumper. He sometimes looks like he is in slow motion when taking a shot. If he and Smith can put on some muscle and develop those mid range jumpers they could be seeing a lot more playing time next season.

  6. The whole team needs to hit the weight room in the off season, especially Reed, Smith, Remekun and Ellis.

Jordan needs to either have his skills catch up to his quickness or slow down a little on the offensive side. He is the fastest guy on the team but at least a couple times a game he is just too out of control.

It would be nice if Conklin could develop a mid range shot, but that may be unrealistic to hope for that.

As for the best upside, I would say Cassity. I never really liked him too much last year or early on this season, he was too hesitant to shoot and made a lot of mistakes. That being said, he ended the season a different player than he started the season. Majerus stuck with him and I couldn't figure it out early on but as the season went, I began to see what type of player he could be. He became a more confident shooter, a better passer and he took the ball to the basket more and more.

With the team being young and getting so much experience early in their college careers, I am excited to see these guys play and continue to grow for the next couple years.

  7. SLU 71, URI 68

Hot shooting to start the first half keeps the Bills in it, despite being unable to slow down URI's pace. Halftime scores in the high 30's for both teams. Halftime adjustments by Moses Cockstrong allow SLU to slow the pace down and Willie makes 3 of 4 free throws down the stretch.

I think it will be your typical back and forth game of runs. 71-68 is a nice score but we can't be living in a dream world banking on Willie making 3 of 4 free throws down the stretch.

  8. Arizona St. down 15 to Stanford (13-17 record) with 12 min in the 2nd half. Arizona St. was one of Lunardi's last 4 in.

Lunardi just said that Pac 10 and Conference USA could both end up one bid conferences. He said Memphis is out after losing to Houston again and with UAB losing. He said there only hope of getting in is if there was a losers bracket in the Conference USA tournament.

  9. So I work in Clayton (the building with Ruth's Chris) Im leaving work to watch the game. Its just an internship and I dont know that area too well. Is there a good sports bar type place to watch a game down there?

J McGraugh's on Maryland just east of 170, Mike Duffy's at Clayton and Big Bend, or Sportman's Park at Clayton and 64.

  10. I also plan to add another 20-30 lbs to WR this yr.

That would be nice, good luck. While you're at it try to see if you could get Jon Smith around 150lbs or so for next season. He could use a little added weight.

  11. My DirecTV here in St. Louis shows the game being on tomorrow - channel 630.

Friendly's was advertised as showing the game on satellite, I believe that's what I heard on 101.1 today. I think satellite and charter are showing it, if you have att uverse they will be showing a-10 tourney starting saturday on CBS College Sports HD Channel.

  12. Memphis down 3 after 10 minutes. Would a loss early in the CUSA tourney might put them on the outside looking in?

Memphis down 9 at half. If they lose to Houson again, I can't see them making it in. Two losses to Houston, a .500 team with an rpi of 160/sos 121, 7-9 in conference. Not to mention Memphis lost to UMass. Memphis is OUT.

  13. To me, the best comparison I've heard was Cody to Linas Kleiza. Might not be as good, but similar player. Edit: Chosen One beat me to it.

I have to disagree with you guys on the Kleiza comparison. Kleiza was stronger, quicker, and overall more athletic than Ellis. Kleiza was bigger inside and a better overall player and the only thing that they really have in common is the perimeter game. They both have a good outside shot, with Ellis maybe having a slight edge from 3 point.

I like the Joe Alexander from W. Virginia comparison. They're both not the quickest and can't beat guys off the dribble, but both have good basketball iq's and work without the ball to get in position for a shot. Again, Ellis has an edge from 3 point but they both have nice mid range shots.

Ellis is still only a freshman and has a lot of time to improve his game. He is a great player and I can't wait to see him grow over the next few years at SLU.
