  1. Is the Blue Crew somehow associated with the band? I thought the band was a bunch of dorks (lovable...but dorks). If the Blue Crew somehow got associated with their cheers, then I can see the problem.

Just kick the band out of the Blue Crew. Problem solved.

  2. My favorite Heinrich moment: Walking in to the Student Union and seeing Heinrich hunched over his laptop and "typing". Im sure his ppg avg in Germany is higher than his words per minute typing.

Mavis Beach WPM = 5 with 65% accuracy.

Perhaps not my favorite (but most memorable Heinrich) moment - when he attempted to dunk vs. KU at Kemper Arena and was rejected by the rim. You just wanted to curl up in a ball and cry for him. That place was packed with KU fans and they rained down with laughter.

  3. "Same as it ever was" C'mon Billiken fans, everybody knows that Thee University of Missouri is the basketball program everyone follows in this city and state!

So what if you win the NIT, all you can chant is "We're #65".

Billiken and Cub fans always have "next year"!!!

Mizzou sucks. Come to the 'Fetz and we'll settle this on the court. No one wants to play at the 'Fetz!!

  4. Having Majerus on our side certainly doesn't hurt, and probably helps to generate a little buzz.

I think we will have to make it to the A10 championship game to have any legitimate gripe about an at-large bid.

I also think that if the name of our team was "Dayton" or "Temple" or some other team that regularly goes to the tourney, then there would be a lot more talk about Cody Ellis and how everything that happened before his arrival is somehow invalid, and we should only be judged on what has happened in conference play.

I'm not saying it's a valid argument. But the "we only had our star player for part of the season" argument has worked for some teams in the past. As a biased fan, I am willing to play that card to get my team in, if necessary.

Naturally, I'd rather just see our guys go out there and win the damn tournament.

    S-A-...

  5. In a perfect world, SLU would have played Missouri earlier this season and that "tie-breaker" game would determine who now gets the at-large bid. MU is a good team, but not so much lately. If you take the Rockhurst game off our schedule and replace it with a victory over MU, that looks a whole lot better.

BTW - no more scheduling Div 2 schools from now on. Also - no more losing to Bowling Green - ever.

  6. Do I need to say more?

    Of course.

Up by 9 (24-15) and no one wants to get excited. Temple goes on a 14-4 run to end the half.

Up 45-43 in the final 7 minutes and people like to stay seated. Quietly. Temple goes on a 14-6 run to win the game.

I am tired of this act. Davola and I tried our best to get people up to no avail. People were more excited about the friggin ball toss than the game.

NOTE: This rant does not apply to the students. You guys were great.

Look a-hole...I know where you sit. 108 is a joke, just like your perfomance in the game of quarters tonight at Humphrey's. The only time you made noise tonight was when you were flagging down the cotton candy guy for your 3rd helping.
  7. I keep thinking that we will probably lose 1 more regular season game. If we do, and if we then win 2 in the conference tourney, I'm going to scream like hell that we should get an NCAA bid. It's not my job to care whether that's realistic. I'm biased and I intend to let my emotions block out reason. 23-10 should get it done.

  8. This is a little off topic, but I'll throw it out there anyway.

My favorite taunt from the SLU band (circa 1999) was directed at Denny Crum when he was the head coach at Louisville. Denny used to wear bright red blazers on game day, so the band comes out with...

"HEEEEEEYYYYYYYY, HEEEYY DENNY. I WANNA KNOW-oh-oh.....WILL YOU WASH MY CAR!" to the tune of:

"Hey, hey baby, I wanna know....will ya be my girl".

  9. I did a quick check of the RPI of at-large teams who were 10, 11, or 12 seeds in last years NCAA tourney, assuming those were pretty much the last teams in.

    Dayton - 11 seed - RPI 27

    Minnesota - 10 seed - RPI 42

    Michigan - 10 seed - RPI 44

    Wisconsin - 12 seed - RPI 45

    Maryland - 10 seed - RPI 55

    Arizona - 12 seed - RPI 62

Looks like we need to jump about 25 - 35 in the RPI. I don't know if the Bills can pull this off. I just hope they get to the point where I can yell and scream that they deserve an at-large. Of course, the other option is just to flat out win the A10 tourney, which certainly appears to be on the radar now.
