Recruit (1/7)

  1. sad fact for slu is that ryan bright was held to 5 points and 5 rebounds and you were still beaten on the glass. shsu may make a little noise before it's all over.
  2. btw, bright isn't a post or a 4. he's our small forward who can bring it up the court and shoot the trey.
  3. As a devoted Sam Houston fan, I've come over here to find out more about your team. It looks to me like it's been a wild ride so far - almost like a jekyll and hyde team. can you guys gimme some information about the billikens? i've seen won-loss record and stats, but wanted to know some in-depth stuff. i remember the spoonhour days and a few of the billiken players. as a matter of fact, i saw the team in the airport a few years ago when things weren't going well - i think that coach is history now. as for SHSU, our coach has taken our team from the depths of despair eight years ago to the point where we compete for a conference championship year in and year out. we played in the ncaas against florida in 2003, but haven't been back since. coach marlin has done a tremendous job recruiting to fit needs. we almost never have a true post player and in the southland conference most bigs are 6-7 to 6-9. marlin has interviewed at university of houston, wyoming and a few other places in recent years, but hasn't left as of yet. he won a NJCAA championship in florida and was an assistant at alabama under wimp sanderson before taking over at sam houston. our best player, ryan bright, is gritty and tough and at 6-6 is a great rebounder. i think he's in the top 10 in the nation this year. our guards are all small and tough. we play damn good defense which keeps us in the game most of the time. we have the nation's second-longest home out of conference winning streak (41 games) behind Duke. our guys play hard and are really, really coached well. sam houston's claim to fame is newscaster dan rather. rhett bomar transferred to shsu from OU and tore his ACL at the end of the year this year. slide on over to www.katfans.com to check out our message board. hope the game is a good one. i picked us to go about 25-7 this year with our first loss of the year coming at st. louis. after last night we are 8-0 and actually picked up a vote in the AP top 25.
