  1. B-law seriously why don't you just quit posting here. You are not a Billiken fan. You are a Marquette fan. You want to rip the program, go rip them on a MU board. I can't wait for UW to spank you guys at the Bradley.

Has MU changed the team name or mascot again this year? What kind of idiots need to change every year. Doesn't matter, you will never have any thing as good as the Billiken or Bucky.

  2. I didn't say his concerns were goofy. His post regarding them are. Keeping track of kids who sign with Duke, Kentucky, Indiana and N.C., so he can compare Brad's recruiting to theirs. That is not just goofy, it is stupid.

72, wow we are losing kids to GA, K-state, and Creighton. I just cant't believe we lost a recruit from GA to the UGA, that is terrible. We lost a kid to a coach who has one of the best winning % and histories of putting players in the NBA, who could justify that. We lost a Cali kid to a coach who has built one of the best non-bcs programs in the country over the last 12 years, we can not accept this. This kind of stuff is just goofy. Then again, so was your sweating out the Bill's ranking on CHN for a month.

  3. Roy, you have it exactly right. As I said, it seems like the Romar situation all over again. I don't think you need to stop recruiting these kids though. You have to build relationships with the coaches and other players in the recruiting game across the country.

I think we need to have at least run really good season before you can expect results. Once that happens then you really can start to see the dividends for all the time you have put in.

72, if you want to join Hardball in going completly goofy with your thoughts on the current recruiting, you can. The staff will be judged on the results of this season (regular and post) and the following recruiting class.

The big boys coming in doesn't frighten me with these kids. Brad has long term relationships with these kids and their parents. I think Brad should and will deliver on these kids. This is a must.

For this year, I think it now comes down to Powell. I have no idea where this stands now. I think Powell has been underrated nationally for a long time. They need to get him locked in before he starts attracting programs besides us and Bradley.

  4. I don't know if the conversation between RB execs and the AD happened or not. I know 18 months ago a PSL type of plan was not on the board except for a few select sections.

With the exception of XU, no Jesuit Universities have broad reaching plans requiring a psl or an ongoing donation to the school. Both Gonzaga and Crieghton have reguirements to be in a similar club to the Billiken Club. XU's program is pretty extensive. I don not see anyway SLU could try to have a similar set-up to XU.

  5. I was not trying to be the moral police or was I saying our kids are perfect. Heck, they are college kids. I was just saying it was nice that we don't make these kind of headlines. I think it says something about the men's b-ball program that we don't have these kind of headlines. We have not had these kind of headlines for as long as I can remember. I think it is something you could point out to parents on the recruiting trail.

The soccer team has not been as lucky.

  6. If you they do try to enact a psl system down the road the need to be aware of the possible long term negative effects. If you program is not a long term power and going to stay there this will kill your program. Ask anyone involved at Mizzou AD how an ill concieved psl program is still killing football attendence and donations 25 years later.

Many famalies that were long time donors still refuse to purchase football tickets and make donations for football facilities. Some have returned to the fold with basketball over the years, but won't let any of there money near the football program.

This killed them with the ability to keep up facilities for years. It hurt when it came to hiring coaches. It even cost them more than a few recruits. It looks like they are finally recovering 25 years later.

  7. I like how Doc didn't think the percentage was right when someone said it earlier, so he just made up his own numbers.

The thing alot people need to rember about these stats it they include anyone who enrolls for any reason and only counts them as grauating if they graduate from that school. If someone enrolls at SLU and then transfers and graduates from there it still counts against SLU's rate. Like he never graduated at all. Anybody that goes to take just a course for their job, it counts against the graduation rate.
