  1. And that league still hasn't reached the level the A-10 did.

Here is what is going to start to hurt the MVC...coaching changings. Not losing the best to bigger jobs, but when replacing the fired and resigning coaches at the lesser schools. When these school try to hire new coaches one thing the new coaches will ask for is scheduling relief. These new coaches will want to rack up some victories early and try to jump start the program.

This will lead to those schools scheduling weaker OOC games. Which leads to the busting up of Doug Eglin's magic RPI formula. Good-bye bloated RPIs.

  2. V, I got news for you, the Big 12 was a pretty ###### conference this year. The top three teams where good the rest of the conference sucked. The rest of the conference was worst than the Valley. The rest wasn't much better overall than the A-10. In fact you can make a solid argument with the middle of the A-10 was better tham the middle of the Big 12.

  3. I don't think money tap has closed as for as donations go. I do think that the Lauries and the Kronkes have cut back on trying to throw their weight around in Boone County. They have alot of stuff they want to keep quiet when it comes to their family and Quinn. They don't want to step on anybody's toes.

You think with all the J-school grads down there that someone would realize they could make a name for themselves with some of the twisted crap that went on down there. Just goes to show money can keep alot of stuff quiet. It also doesn't hurt having grads deciding what gets in print or on the air. They wouldn't want to make the school look bad.

  4. I just don't think they have the leverage to stop it this year if the NIT wants to make it happen. Seriously nobody around the country considers MU as anything approaching big time. They are viewed basically on the same level as SLU now. The years of number one rankings, elite eight runs, and Big 8 titles are long gone. MU is just another middle of the road basketball program now.

  5. I see no way Mizzou turns down a NIT bid to advoid play SLU. If this wasn't MA first season and MU wasn't coming off the Quinn debacle maybe, but they have no leverage this year. The Tigers are not in a position to turn down a bid this year. They have to and will take what they can get. If it happens, big if, I think it would be played in St. Chuck. It would sell out, which I don't think would happen at MU. I believe MU will be on spring break.

  6. Roy if they think a SLU vs. MU match-up would draw a great gate and pull in a good TV rating, they will try to make it happen. I know the committee is different, there are now automatic bids, the field is now 32, and the NCAA now runs it; but the thing is they still want to make as much money off of it as possible.

  7. SOS can be misleading. MSU only played on team in the RPI top 50 OOC and that was at a nuetral court. Umass played three, all on the road. MSU had an RPI of 21 and didn't get in last year. They were 0-5 against the top 2 teams in their conference. This will leave an impression with the comittee that their win over Wisconson and the RPI are flukes, in my opinion. The committee will not weigh in the SLU game conterversy at all. UMass I think must win at least one probably two conf. tourney games to get in, but I think right now they have the better chance to get in.
