  1. That SLU can always be there fall back. I think this is really starting to hurt the program and this must change. Recruits always think SLU will always be there and thus feel no urgency to commit to SLU. I think this started under Romar and has only gotten worse under Brad. This has got to stop.

  2. He has a couple days to commit here or SLU is moving on. There is no reason to waste any more time on this kid. I hope he doesn't doesn't end up screwing himself on a place he would like to be as slots start to fill-up elsewhere. He is so intrested in Iowa because it is the one big time program recruiting him. I got news for him, he was being recruited by Iowa because he was the type of player that Alford thinks he needs. It is very likely the next coach will not feel the same way. This kid and his dad are really setting themselves up for a big time let down.

  3. I have really started to sound like a big razorback fan. I am not. I just think it is a really good job. I think it is even a better job now that a coach would be replacing Heath and not Richardson. It is better to be the man who replaces the man who replaced the MAN, than it is to be the man who replaced the MAN.

  4. I think he wants to win a national championship. Arkansas ,IMO, offers the better shot at that and I think Gillespie and most coaches would think the same thing. Coaches leave great situations all the time and Gillespie has made TAMU a great situation.

  5. I am just asking people to realize there are other problems. He may have more to work with than other Billiken coach, but the problem is SLU has been passed by other programs when it come financal support, facilities, and AD structure over that time. The programs that were already ahead of SLU have only increased the distance. SLU is only now playing catch up on some of these things.

One point, it would have been better for the Bills to be playing at the old Kiel for the last 20 years than any other place. They were the main tennant, had scheduling priority, it offered a true home court advantage, they could practice there on a regular basis, it was a smaller building thus it would make it a hotter ticket, and rent was far less expensive. Losing Kiel was one of the worst things to happen to the program in the last two decades.

  6. Pointing out other problems with the program is not defending UB. Pointing out that SLU will never be on the same level as Arkansas year in and year out is not defending UB. Pointing out that the staff cell phone bill is paid out of UB's compensation instead AD budget is not defending the job UB has done over the last 12 months. I gave Brad one of the lowest letter grades of anybody on here for his performance over the past 12 months.

Just because SLU will never be what Arkansas should be in basketball doesn't mean you have low expectations. Gonzaga, Marquette, Georgetown, St Johns, and Villanova have never been the program that Arkansas was and should be. These schools have all had success but never the sustained level of success over decades that Arkansas has had. They will never have that kind of success. Arkansas and other programs with football at BCS conferences have too many built in advantages.

  7. Why should it becoming out of any of the money the coach earns. It doesn't matter if it is SLU or any other school in the country, this expense should not be coming out of the coach's pocket.

Brad does pay for his and his staff members cell phones. Basketbeall camp money is money that is part of a coaches compensation. So write it down and put it in your wallet: BRAD PAYS THE STAFF CELL PHONE BILL AND IT IS BUSH LEAGUE.

  8. His problems had nothing to do with talent. He would come in and give us immediate starting minutes. You won't find many guys that can play the 4 or 5 that have three years D-1 playing experience and four years in a D-1 program. He would hopefully come here with a chip on his shoulder and you won't have any worries about getting him into school like our almost yearly JUCO follies

  9. I was thinking the same thing until I read immediatley after he left the team that he wanted to play next year. He has talent, it is a one year flyer on the kid (so it is basically the same as holding a scholarship for the '08 class, he has more talent then any big on our current roster, and it has worked out here before (Jamal Johnson). I say you take a chance on the kid.

  10. And this team needs all the help it can get on the front line. His playing time was reduced do to falling outs with Hinson, not his ability. You do realize there are only two big men on the roster now. Even if you sign a JUCO big this team could still find a spot and plenty of playing time for Frazier. Plus he will only be here one year opening a scholarship for the loaded '08 class.

  11. I get your point moytoy, but the situation at Arkansas is just a little bit different. When in recent history you have won a championship, finished second, been to multiple final fours, elite eights, have a great on-campus venue, and a monstorous budget the expections are justifiably different.

  12. Does anybody know if he has any interest in SLU or we have any interest in him? He will be eligible to play next year because he graduates this semester. He stated in the Springfield newspaper that he wants to play next season. I think he was completely wasted by Hinson the last two seasons and would add some needed quality depth up front next season.

  13. I know the difference. Nobody posted anything approaching love letter level. People were just welcoming him and posting some of the things the school and the area have going for it. People were just taking the chance that he may check out this board.

Your were just looking for something to ***** and argue about.

  14. Brad goes to meet the kid on his first day on campus and bam it is Chris Hansen, a decoy, and a camera crew. Hansen says, "Brad sit down. We need to talk about this free education you are offering in exchange for this young man's services on the basketball court." This Tuesday night on Dateline it is "To Catch a Recruiter".
