  1. It was Thicks. He didn't come out and exactly use those words, but that was his basic point. I forget how it all started, but the three of us basically became smart asses and started questioning everything in the thread. That basically led to our enternal damnation.

  2. Well tell them to watch any morning show, listen to any morning radio show, watch any entertainment show, watch any political show, to check out sports website, check out any news website, any entertainment website, or any evening news broadcast so they will know about it. We really do not need to know how woefully uninformed the people you go to school with are. It is a sad statement that they are all that uninformed.

  3. Maybe you need to stop reading the board on a purely emotional level.

Second, I never called Biondi a liar. I believe he has been overly optimistic in the past about the status of the arena. This is pretty clear when you consider the actual starting date of construction was years after he said it would originally happen. So forgive me if I don't take everything he says about the completion date as gospel.

Third, I never said that the arena was going to be completed much later than scheduled. In fact, I said in response to your post that I believe it will be finished on schedule. But, I guess in your mind you can't play devil's advocate on anything relating to SLU.

I was just trying to point out some of the things that are being said about SLU in circles outside of this group of Billiken fans. If you want to bury your head in the sand and act like SLU doesn't have any problems real and precieved go ahead. You can call me some seer of evil all you want. In fact I find it pretty entertaining.

  4. I agree with you on the overall use of the pack. I don't like it. Especailly when you state that you want to get out and push the ball on offense. It is a hinderance to your stated goal.

I think overall the reason for the oppenents ability to shoot from the outside was greatly enhanced by the help Luke required on defense. It would have happened in any defense they would have played this past season.

  5. I think he judge the talent right on Grimes v. Shaw. I think Grimes would be a complete monster in Lowery's system. His mistake was not realizing he didn't have a shot at Grimes. He should have been going after Shaw at the beginning with the intensity he was going after Grimes. That was his mistake in Grimes v. Shaw.

Also I don't believe switching from the pack would have helped that much overall with getting torched from the outside. Even in a zone someone would have still had to help Luke on defense. Next year he will have to be willing to go away from the pack because the personal on the team will demand it. If he doesn't, it will be a log season.

  6. I think that the problem is gone once you are able to bring recruits inside of the building and they can either see the finished project or get a real feel for what it will be. I think we can all agree that this negative is going away and it will be turned into a big plus for the program.

That is as long as they haven't and don't hire anyone who was involved in the "Big Dig" project. Then we might have some real problems.

  7. its completion date idiocy? I never said it wouldn't be finished. It will and I think it will probably be finished on shedule. But, nobody should take just Biondi's word on it, when you consider his history when it comes to the arena.

  8. If it was a johnny-come-lately I don't think people would have been concerned about the new arena. I know it has been brought up in my family and in our group of season ticket holders since the Grawer years. I also think when people have high hopes going into a season, they don't like to think about the bad things hidden in the closet.

I don't think anybody should give Brad a free ride because of the other problems and I certainly don't. But to act like they don't exist and might have a bigger effect on the program overall than any coach, is foolish.

My big hope in all of this is that having to operate a facility and compete with other facilties for events will force a change in the way the athletic department is operated. I think Biondi is already beginning to see this and is starting to let Cheryl make some of the needed changes.
