  1. I guess it all depends on his reasons for transferring. If the issue is playing time then I see no point in him transferring here, as he will be behind Liddell, Lisch (Both of whom have outplayed him time in and time out in the past) and Polk. Now if the issue is not wanting to be away from home, then I'd say come to SLU. Either way I am all for him coming here if he wants. We can never have enough athletes in my opinion. Plus it will only enhance our local appeal to the community around us, and hopefully put some more people into the seats.

  2. As far as Rusty (Kevin's father) goes, I happen to know for a fact that he is very fond of Coach Soderberg. He will be fine I think. Many times where people would see him go on an outburst was probably during the girls games when they used to have Don Haida as their coach (probably worst coach in history.) Anyways my point is, I don't think that Rusty will have any problems with Coach Soderberg.

I truly think that Kevin is a prototypical player for Soderberg's system. He plays hard defense, takes care of the ball and is a great team player. Time will tell.

  3. Ya, I saw the article. First time I have ever seen a picture of Vashon's gym. It looks beautiful! Doesn't have a whole lot of hype for SLU but good for St. Louis nonetheless. Good to see a picture of the Legend though.

  4. Just heard some news over the weekend that he is walking on his own without crutches or anything. He is still limping a little though so he can't really run on it yet. He is shooting 1000 free throws a day and will be ready to go come October he said. Just wanted to pass on some good news.

  5. Steve, I just wanted to take a minute and thank you for all the hard work that you do for the board. I know we all appreciate having somewhere to discuss Billiken basketball in an environment such as the one you have created. Happy Birthday Steve, and thanks again.

  6. I personally thought that Newborne played well today. I haven't looked at the boxscore but I would be willing to say that he had 3 or so blocks and I thought he was agressive on the rebounds.

It was by far the best offensive game that Dwayne has played this year, that no look pass in the first half was sweet! I thought he was more agressive as well too as he looked for his shot more.

Luke is earning his minutes it seems like, let him have the spot if he is working for it. He played great an all around good game today.

I just hope we can put this behind us and contine on what seems like an improvement and play good on Wednesday and at least end the season on a somewhat positive mark.

Heres to hoping that Tommie is everything that Mejia is and more!

  7. I was wondering if the streets have been talking much lately? Any news as far as some potential recruits? Anyone know if the Bills tried to recruit Marcus White at all after he said he was transferring? I know he is going to Purdue, but I know at one point he was really looking at SLU. P Diddy give us some new news, some of that athletic inside player who is just a beast on the rebounds! Thanks

  8. I completely agree with you as far as Felton goes, but he has some work to do academically. Not that he is dumb or anything like that he is just lazy. That is why coach Greg Leib at Althoff has not started him yet. He told Felton he won't ever start until he gets his grades up. Here's to hoping he puts a foot in his butt and gets him improving his grades. He is only a soph so he should have plenty of time to work things out.

  9. Jalensdad, I attended the game. Kevin was his usual self hitting all kinds of shots and creating off the dribble. Like you said he did end up with 34 points and probably had 4 or 5 steals. By the end of the game he had Carbondale fans shaking their heads and some even cheering for him (somewhat similar to Rocky IV in a way.)

On another note big time potential soph, Jeremy Felton had a good game too. While his scoring isn't there yet he is scary athletic. He had one stretch during the game where he blocked Carbondale's Manual Cass (who is a very good player) 3 times in a row on the same possesion. Don't miss out when they come to Belleville, it should be a very good game.

  10. Jalensdad2002 said, "I think he proved that this morning, going for 15 4th qtr points and 9/10 from the line."

I too saw the game yesterday morning. In a game where it came down to the wire, Kevin simply willed Althoff to win. He was unable to be stopped and as Jalensdad said he dominated the 4th quarter. His ability to hit clutch free throws would sure look good on this years team!

  11. Clark Francis is a d!ck. As soon as he found out Kevin signed with SLU his ranking dropped big time. Don't base his ranking because of what Francis said. It is a fact that Kevin was offered a scholorship by Illinois (who is the number 1 team in the country), Notre Dame, Wisconsin and I'm not sure on Kansas but maybe. Illinois was crushed when he verballed to SLU, they still wanted him to come visit Champaign, but he told them no thanks. Kevin is a very very good player, you will see. He is a top 50 player.
