  1. A lot of people are worried about the size. Personally I think the aspect of a ticket to a St. Louis University mens' basketball game being hard to get is a fantastic thing. If there are games that can possibly get 15k+ would we not be able to possibly do what Villanova does and get a game or two at the Savvis? I would think that this would serve as a double positive. Yes we get a brand new state of the art facility that recruits see and want to play at, and then tell them we'll play North Carolina, Gonzaga, etc...some team of the nature at the Savvis in front of 15-18k of people. The 10k will get rid of the fans that come with success and allow those that are hard core fans the oppurtunity to see the team. Personally I would much rather have the offices, practice courts, etc...than the 3000 seats.

  2. In my opinion only Dentmon was the only one who you could say got the best of Lisch in high school. Kevin could not stop him, but the same could be said for Dentmon guarding Lisch. Dentmon is a very good player as is Kevin. A program would be thrilled to have either on their team. The sectional game in 2003 where Kevin had 37 as a sophomore and Dentmon had 35 I think was the best high school game I have ever seen. Both were unbelievable.

  3. Well considering when you walk into West Pine there is like a 3 foot by 2 foot poster on the glass case that has all the sports and who made the honor roll from each, I wasn't aware it was such a private matter. I apologize though I had no right to see that in such a private place. My bad.

  4. He had bursitis in his elbow back in high school. It would get inflamed every so often, and it did about a month ago or so. He's just wearing it as a precaution. Nothing to worry about, he is doing just fine as we all can see. It is not any reference as to Iverson wearing one or anything like that. Just a precaution thing.

  5. While I agree that Vashon is a very good basketball team, I think that the overall talent in Missouri is no where near the match of Illinois High School Basketball. In 2004, the Carbondale Sectional had Belleville West, Carbondale, and Althoff all in it. I think it would be safe to say that any of these teams would have had a great shot at going to the state tournament in Missouri and possibly winning it. Belleville West had, J.B. Jones, Xavier Price, Arthur Sargent, McPeak. Carbondale had Dentmon who starts at Washington, Cass (going to Depaul) Phillip Fayne, Blackledge (both at SWIC) and Althoff had Kevin, Kenny Nance, and some other nice players. It is of my belief that the state championship in Missouri Basketball is no better than a sectional matchup in Illinois.

  6. I have been waiting for 3 years now for Withers to put all his skill together and put games like this together. Withers has the skills I think to be a Ben Wallace clone in addition to his offensive skills already being better than Wallace's. He is an absolute beast if he wants to be. Look at his performance last year against us when they beat us in OT. I don't remember exactly, but I think he had something like 38 and 21 or something.

  7. This week as well as last has been Spring Rush on campus. Many of the fraternities including the SigEps (which I must say I have a bias for my fellow brothers) are using tonight's game as an event in which to meet many of the rushees. This seems like a great idea and hopefully it will mean a large turnout from the students. Add this to the fact that we can finally get rid of those emergency toilet paper devices I mean Mizzou shirts and the support of the Blue Crew which have signs up throughout campus promoting the game and it should be a pretty good showing. Lets get this streak done with. See everyone tonite at the game!

  8. People were saying things to who I assume was a grandfather and the mother all night long. However it was a case where they would just say something like ok guys cmon lets settle down rather than showing some discipline to these kids. In all honesty I highly doubt this mom would have cared had the ball being thrown onto the court caused any trouble for the team.

  9. I actually saw who threw the ball this time. There were three little kids who were maybe 6 years old at most. All they did during the game besides kick my seat every second of the game was yell about how they were on the big screen the whole time. But when Liddell hit that shot one of the kids threw the ball and I turned around to him giving him a look like what did you just do that for. The kid just looked at me and laughed. We are very lucky that we have not gotten called for that yet.

  10. The most memorable games for me were definately the Miracle in Memphis and then when we beat Louisville. I can remember sitting in 8th grade Algebra class during the tournament in Memphis. My teacher let me sit in the back and watch the game tracker online for the Cinci game. I had no idea that Kenyon got hurt so after class I had P.E. and I was running around screaming that we just beat Kenyon Martin and the number one team in the country. Great memory! In person it was definately the Louisville game. I can still remember three Louisville fans who were sitting in the row behind us telling us the whole game how they were killing us and how we had no chance and I just remember dad turning to them when Marque hit that shot and they had no comments at all. Priceless!

  11. I actually have a story about Kramer that occured in the summer of 2001. It was the summer after my freshman year in high school and I along with a friend went to Coach Romar's basketball camp at SLU. This would have been I believe the year that Brad was an assistant here. Anyways my team was pretty good, but we had this kid on our team that everyone kept saying was only in 6th grade. He helped our team out a lot. He was dribbling through presses and was a very good shooter. I could not believe this kid was in 6th grade as he was playing in the division with 9-12 graders. After the first couple of days we were talking about where we went to school and he's says I'm from St. Charles and I told him I went to Althoff and we talked a little more. So here it is on Friday and it was awards day. All of a sudden they announced his name, Kramer Soderberg. My head just whipped around as I knew his name was Kramer but I had absolutely no idea his last name was Soderberg. It was kinda cool playing with him. He's a real good kid, who works extremely hard. If he was that good 5 years ago obviously he has gotten better and his 42 point game the other day was no fluke. I have no problem assuming he keeps working hard with him becoming a billiken in the future.

  12. If we are recruiting Stemler what are peoples thoughts? I know he is a good shooter, but he still seems skinny and lacking the athleticism to play bigger D1 basketball. Granted I have not seen him play since high school but maybe his skills have improved since. I trust Soderberg's judgement though. I just hope we dont' waste a scholarship on a player that is not good enough to contribute. It scares me that he could not even get off the bench his year at Bradley.

  13. David, I too tried the Air Alert program. It was incredibly demanding and very difficult. I do think though if one was to follow the program throughout the 12 week schedule that 8 inches is definately possible. Even with dad pushing me very hard on it, I think the furthest I got on it was 5 or 6 weeks. If the dedication is there I don't see why 8 inches on someones vertical jump is so ridiculous. On a side note, our own Larry Hughes actually promotes the Air Alert program, he jumps pretty well doesn't he?

  14. I apologize tseugnekillib. I was not paying attention when writing the previous post. I meant to write before the Drejaj injury. Obviously with the injury to Anthony, Kevin has been asked to step up and replace that offense and make up for those missing points that AD brought to the table. Before the injury when Kevin was coming off the bench Coach had asked Kevin to "be less aggressive" and be more of a run the offense and score when you get it type of player. But with the injury the tables have turned. Again I apologize for my mistake and thank you for pointing that out.

  15. I have been told that Coach Soderberg has indeed asked Kevin to be a more complete team player with the absence of Drejaj, which means being less aggressive on the offensive end. He has been asked to create for his teamates and play a more support role of sorts. The time will come when he can go back to seeing what everyone saw him do in high school. The best is yet to come.

  16. The play was designed for Kevin. He started off on the baseline and jab stepped towards the wing and then ran down the baseline and up to the top of the key. They had Ian and someone else there setting a double screen for a shot at the top of the key. When he was running off the screen though the Gonzaga guy grabbed him and they called the foul. The next play was the one where Polk through up that shot. Soderberg did have a play on and it worked but Kevin was fouled.

  17. Tseugnekillib, I completely agree with you on your statements about Stemler. I think Bradley or a program similar to it is the right fit for Lance. He is by no means a power forward as you said, but can score from the wing. What about Curtis Muse? I have absolutely no clue what his grades are or anything else, but he seems like he has a lot of potential. Is there any chance on him? Just a thought.
