  1. that on Sat evening Bryce Husack will be DC of Wed??

or maybe more realisticly gets some playing time??

Absolutley not a knock on IV, I am really impressed with the progress he has made in season.

But I would like to see BH get some minutes.

Hell, play them both at the same time with DP,LM,DB.

  2. One game evaluation....

a huge compliment here in today's world in my book - nothing flashy - just solid, real damn solid

    I think he took 4 3's and made 3 and 6 ft's and made 5

is thicker than I imagined from reports, esp since freshman

was being defended by very quick guards and handled very well

others on SCW were hot that night so he was not looking to score but to distribute, another huge compliment, he knew his role for the night

can;t give eval on his defense, sorry

very biased word to those to watch him play...no fans cry like SCW fans, and with Kramer involved, it goes to another level

  3. wish I knew where we are headed with our bball program...

brehms I wish we had more to surround your brother as I think he is more than a very nice player....

tom's dad I hope Tom can get healthy (looked like he was holding his head the entire time he was on the bench Wed)...

I wanted to keep this positive but just cant

if gerry pollard the st charles county cop gets another SLU game this season I will have to leave my seat to scream at him from much closer range when he shows that 'i am a god and am in complete control of the mayhem i have allowed to exist in this game b/c i am a terrible official but i have a whistle in my mouth and a gun in my duffle bag' attitude, of course he will arrest me if ever I am at the same quicktrip where he naps....

somehow we need to take something positive away from the rest of this season or we risk falling back from the progress we have made (I hope that makes sense as it is predicated on being able to upgrade our team through recruiting, some of which I hope is on the way in TL and KL) or maybe we luck into a couple 6'8" dudes with the Paul O'Liney attitude who when he saw Mizzou get waxed by Arkansas said "hey I can help them" and a belated Santa sets them on our stoop....

how would you like to be raising funds for our new arena now....yikes..

and by the way, whatever that counter is counting will go over the 1 mil mark today

best to you and slu in '05

  4. b_roy "in brad's defense, he is paid to coach the team, not entertain on a talk show. now if they want to change his contract and set up a post game brad soderberg show that he is compensated for..."

if there is not something in our contract with our radio broadcast partner for a post game chat with the or a coach, why is it ever done? out of the goodness of the coach's heart??

the university receives the rights fees for the broadcast, I would be shocked if there is not something in the contract saying we will have a coach on after each game.

If someone knows the details of that arrangement and I am incorrect, then I apologize.

maybe it does not have to be the h/c, but if there is a trend that UB only appears after a win, I would find that interesting.

"coach the team" has many responsibilities outside of X's and O's

  5. B-roy: any bets they dont ref the shootout again?

yep, I'll take that one. Pollard will be there if he continues to ref (I would like to say officiate but that would be stretching it).

He gets SLU games, he gets Mizzou games and I don't know why, as it appears he thinks he is the show, and always touching the players, very curious about that, does that mean they can touch (preferably with a good right cross) him?

But I wouldn't want to ref either as the best case is half the people hate you with every call.

He and the shorter of the other two are St Charles (MO) County sherrif deputies

  6. B-roy, if I remember the stats correctly, Lisch shot 25% from the field, that is below avg even on the current Bills team, so while I have seen Lisch play a few times before, he was not impressive in this ONE game.

Just a note, two of the three refs from that game are St Charles (MO) County sherrifs, so I pay for bullets for these dudes, scary isn't it??

  7. Someone please inform me if I missed something during the week, but the last I saw on Husack from UB is that he earned minutes with his performance last week, and so here comes Hawaii and he sits for 40. What did I miss? Also what is up with Clarke? Thanks for the help.

  8. "Curtis Muse last year, he has high D-1 talent"

Wow, I did not see it, high D-1? I don't care if was 6-9, he was not high or mid D-1, maybe low D-1 but only b/c there are 325 D-1 schools. IMO he could not contribute to any D-1 team in Missouri without a great leap in his playing ability, and UMKC is on this list.

But back to the real issue, who are these V kids in the 90's and 80's (complete headcases as you referred to them) with D-1 talent that did not get into a school b/c of academic qualifying or lack thereof??

  9. "As always there is a chance that grades will be a problem with a Vashon player"

    Torch,

Please give examples to backup the above statement where Vashon players (other than Nick Kern)who are recruitable skillwise don't get into schools because they can't qualify academically.

My quick recollection over the past few years is that Shelton got into SEMO and left (I heard for personal reasons not academic related but I don't know for sure), McKinney and Franklin(for football but played basketball at the V) are at Mizzou, Polk is at SLU, not sure what happened to Gordon so he may or may not fit this discussion and there was a QB at the V that went to Mizzou also, not sure on his status there(I remember him and McKinney being close friends). How many schools in STL area have produced this many D1 prospects in the last 5-6 years and have a better placement record that is public knowledge?

Looking at Vashon from afar and commenting on this without really knowing (but that is a large part of internet posting), I think the record is pretty good, all things considered

  11. Went to the Mizzou I guess that was a football game yesterday.

Prior to the game went into the new arena.

In one word - awesome, spectacular, marvelous, wonderful.

Now granted there were not many roaming around or watching the Lady Tigers practice so don't have a clear sense of how heavy traffic will work or what game ambience will be but there is a lot of space in the concourse, the sight lines are incredible and it just really presents itself very, very well.

Reaction from others that went to the offices and training rooms were more of the same.

This leads us to our proposed building.

We are in competition with the folks in Columbia and throughout D1.

We cannot build a faciltiy that we cannot say is on par with MU's.

Unfortuately they have set the bar, fortunately we have a chance to respond in kind.

Think about the recruiting competition, the shots that will be taken in our direction if we short change this project.

If we have to wait a bit longer to get more money to get on this level, I say do it.

Don't come up short. The talk about taking away aspects from the original design are troubling at least to me (offices and practice gym in particular).

I am not saying it needs to be 15,000 seats, but it must be an impressive facility.
