  1. I agree with courtside. L'ville has better players than UAB. Their D forced 18 turnovers against a good team. They also forced 2 8 min droughts without a FG. With that said, I think the Bills have a better chance to beat the Cards than UAB did. Our D would be bothersome to them. They would beat us because their depth would wear us down. If the game were tomorrow L'ville would only be favored by 5 1/2. Hopefully, we can build some momentum by winning a few games before we play them. I was glad to see we had fewer turnovers tonight. That is a good sign.

  2. Just returned from a business trip to Louisville. While there, I managed to catch the L'ville vs UAB game. L'ville is so athletic. They will be a handful for the Bills. There strong suit is forcing turnovers. That was one of the reasons they were able to dominate a good team like UAB. The Bills will have to take care of the ball on Mar 3 if they are to have a chance.

On another note, I am really looking foeward to our new arena. After being at Freedom Hall, you can really see the difference in atmosphere. Our new arena will be similiar in size to Freedom Hall and have the same intimacy. Even without sellouts the new facility will have a "full feel" to it. Im the lower decks at Freedom you are on top of the floor. Even the back part of the upper deck is closer to the action than the rear of the lower sections at Savvis Center. The new arena will definitely create a better and more excitimg environment

As far as tomorrow, Bills by 5 1/2 over DePaul.

  3. The next 3 games are going to be tough. We will not be favored in any of them. As an example the upcoming Charlotte game shows Charlotte by 5 1/2, The next 2 games, UAB and Memphis, will show similar spreads.

However, these games are all winnable if the Bills bring their "A" game. I am showing a possible 9 wins in conf right now. Yet with one or two wins in the next 3 games we could be at the 10 or 11 mark .

Therefore the next 3 games hold the key to the season.

  4. First time poster--long time Billiken fan and season ticket holder(Sec 117). Read the board all the time (usually when I'm holding on the phone) but have never had time to post.

The Wiz refers to a program called "The Sports Wizard" that was given to me a number of years ago by a math professor to test out. He still revises it occasionally. The "Wiz" handicaps sporting events. I don't have much time to use it but I usually check Billiken games and other key BB matchups from time to time. I thought it would be interesting to share the results with the Board. The Wiz is having a pretty good year in following the Bills. It is 13-1 picking the winner. The only miss was the Dayton game. The program downloads info from various sites on players and team stats, rpi's, etc. and then picks a winner with a point spread. The Wiz is generally weaker in begining of the year and gets stronger(more accurate) as the year goes on. (more data) The point spread means-- under 2 evenly matched possible overtime. Under 5 -close game --5-15 solid win-- 15 or more--blowout. An upset usually means the team is stepping their game up (in the case of a win) or down (in a loss) Lasr year win over Louisville is a good example of stepping the game up. We upset the Cards and go onto play good basketball. This year I would say the win over Dayton has stepped up our play.

That's just a little background. The important thing is that the Wiz picks the Bills over USF by 10.
