  1. If DR leaves, i'll be bummed. I think he could be a nice player in Ford's system.

Assuming DR and MR join MY, here's our roster:

    PG: JB, AH

    SG: MC, MB

    SF: ZM,

    PF: RA, BJ

    C: AG, EW, MN

Yikes. Hope Ford really does hit the ground running. Regardless, next year could be even uglier than this year.

As long as we bring in some guys we know will contribute and see flashes of what will be, i will be excited no matter what. I'm also looking forward to see what Welmer can do. I also hope Neufeld develops this summer and Reggie keeps improving.

  2. I am not messing with anyone. I am pretty sure I saw a tweet from the new head coach saying that "my first act as the head coach of SLU is to confirm (? do not know his first name and cannot find the post) Platt as Associate Coach." This may be a case of a senior moment but I just cannot find the tweet, sorry. I will be the first to be relieved if I am wrong about this.

Ford is good for public relations which is a +. I hope I am wrong about Platt. And no I have absolutely no inside information on SLU.

    Too early to bet BJK

It was a joke. I said it. Was just continuing the Platt jokes. Sorry Old Guy. Ford doesn't want Jim Splatt.

  4. Each and every poster here has the ability to change his/her display name up to three times every 30 days. It's built into the forum script and SignGuy hasn't turned it off, so there's nothing unethical about it. (My username hasn't changed; just my display name.)

Absurd Bills Fan, it was a joke. Hence, the smiley face.

  5. Here's my nominated coaching staff:

Top Assistant: MB73 - Need to coach up the BIGS

2nd Assistant: Pistol - Recruiting guru

3rd Assistant: billiken_roy - He knew Crews sucked before the rest of us.

Video Coordinator: Taj79 - So he can rewatch on the couch in MD

Graduate Assistant: Austin McBroom - To keep up our relationship with the homeless

DBO - TheWiz: So somebody can bring back analytics

Strength Coach: Backhand - Because look at his work with Majerus' players

Backhand hasn't really weighed in on all of this. I too hope he gets involved with the team this summer to beef them up.

  6. It's great to say we should have gone after this coach or that coach, but just because a good coach or assistant coach is out there it doesn't mean they have any interest in coaching here regardless of the money and other things.

I wonder how much the city plays into any of this? It's one thing to say it would be a real boost to SLU since the Rams left, but many nationally think it was a huge blunder by St. Louis. Also, St. Louis hasn't been painted in the best light the last couple of years. Many outsiders think things are way different here than they really are.

  7. I'm disappointed in the hire only because of my own expectations. I shouldn't have had high expectations. I keep reminding myself of the tagline: it's not easy being a Billiken fan. This tagline rings so true once again. We're a not a high end basketball program. We want to be, but we're not. The hiring of Majerus was an anomaly that brainwashed us all to thinking that we were a higher end program than we really are. Crews brought up back to reality. However, we can still build the program and can do it with Travis Ford. It doesn't mean we can build a strong program overnight with him, but I do believe he can move the program forward for now. We don't need him to take us to the Elite 8, but we do need him to bring this train back on track. If he can bring in some solid recruits that have great potential, things can start changing and heading in the right direction. The key will be for SLU to know when to cut ties and bring in a new coach that takes us to a higher level than Ford took us. I'm just not confident SLU will handle the post-Ford phase correctly.

For now, I guess I have to wait and hope Ford will do his part - get us to tourney within 2-3 years and then make the tourney consistently for a couple more years. Then, bring in another Coach who can bring us at least to the Sweet 16 and beyond.

  8. I would caution people that insiders from the athletic department had no idea that Majerus was going to be hired and some of them even reached out to others saying it was a couple other coaches that they were close to making a deal with. My point is that sometimes the short list of people that have inside knowledge of what's actually going to happen is VERY short. AD's realize that there will almost always be leaks and sometimes a leak has no consequences and other times it can cause real problems. What certain staff members believe is going to happen, often times doesn't happen.

In regards to volfan, I think he probably does have inside information. However, we won't know how accurate that info really is though. He should not be discounted and personally I am grateful for his information.

I can also confirm Martin Ingelsby has interviewed and inside sources from ND say he is interested. However, being interviewed and showing interest doesn't always make the deal final.
