  1. I guess he ticket office finally figured out that renewing on line did not include the Billiken Club seat fee. Got a call from the ticket office. Had an option to add the fee to my credit card order or pay by check when I recieve a statement sometime next week. Is your phone ringing?

more rookie league fiasco stuff from the athletic dept. one of these centuries we will get it figured out.

  2. As mentioned in a previous thread, it was reported that TL is in summer school finishing up his degree. Great news! What a wonderful accomplishment for one of the all time great Bills. Anyone know what his degree will be in? Is there anybody on the board that might be able to help him or KL find a good job?(Assuming they don't play pro ball of some kind) One of the perks that a star player like TL or KL should receive for staying home and playing bball is a great network that can help them with post graduation employment.

I'm sure there are a lot of people on this board who "are the right kind of people" or "know the right kind of people." Tommie and Kevin could have gone anywhere but they stayed here.

Let's show them the Billiken community is here for them even after their playing days! Can anyone step forward and lead the way?

What about BE? I am sure if he stays in town he may appreciate some help landing a job. Did he graduate?
  3. You know it's funny but that's something I always wondered about UB. It was strange that he lived way the heck out there for the head coach at an urban university. I know it's not unheard of but it always struck me as odd to be that far out. PR does matter. Having kids at the house and being more visible at city events does matter. Just my opinion.

He is right in the neighborhood for his new coaching gig.

  4. I agree its a who cares. Also, they scheduled it for the same Friday that the Royals and Cards play so the whole state sort of is involved.

I "predict" Majerus will ge the key to the city in 2011 after our 29 win season and Sweet 16 birth during the 2010-11 season.

That is a prediction I can get behind!

  5. From Bernie's Bytes: Mizzou basketball coach Mike Anderson will receive the key to the city (of St. Louis) from Mayor Slay before the KC-STL game at Busch Stadium on May 22 … LINK

Shouldn't it be RM getting the key to the city? If not RM then no one. I know Mizzou had a great season and all but we are in STL not Columbia!

  6. That was a horrible night where nothing went right for the Bills. They have, however, won games against top notch programs, such as Ole Miss and Illinois. So there are some reasons we should be excited about the future of this program.

I hear ya. It was only one game but that was the only one I saw.

  7. I was watching their latest game at slubillikens.com. I think that we should be paying attention to this team in the years to come.

Maybe so but I wasn't thinking that when I watched the Mizzou game at Busch Stadium earlier this season. The Billikens looked like boys against men that night.

  8. Brad should have taken the Detroit job. If he failed, that would have at least given 3-5 years as a HC, if he succeeded, like Ron Everhart is doing with Duquesne which, at the time of his hire, was far bigger challenge, he could have bolted for something better.

I don't think it was Brad's to take. I heard they pulled their offer when they found out they could get Ray McCallum, the former AC at Indiana.

  9. "Adding to the demand is SLU's requirement that beginning this fall, freshmen live on campus or in university-approved housing. In 2010, freshmen and sophomores must live in such housing. Porterfield said the requirements could produce the need for 200 more beds, adding that existing campus housing a "is at 99 percent occupancy."

I had not heard this about this new requirement.

  10. yes, less laws. Yes we need to stop things like murder, but why drugs, smoking, gambling, prostitution? Regulate and tax. Why shouldn't I be able to smoke a bunch of meth and play strip poker with some hookers. If I really wanted to, I probably could. So, lets tax it. Why should the pimp and the dealer be the only ones making a buck?

YES! I hope one day they will allow smoking at your seats in the Chaifetz Arena, The Fox Theater, Ed Jones Dome, Powell Hall, movie theaters and the STC. If you don't like it don't go to the event.

I don't know how NYC, Chicago and the State of California have pulled this off. Missouri really needs to show these backwards cities and states a few things about civil liberties.

Why can't you just step outside if you want a smoke?

  11. We've been to the "Triumph" for a couple of "pre-game" meals and like the place... great atmosphere, good crowd (seated without reservation by getting there about 5:00), good food (maybe a little pricey), great service. We'll likely go back again.

Anyone have any comments about "Buffalo Brewing Co." or "Pappy's BBQ" that are both just down the street from "Triumph"?

Triumph is okay but a little too smokey for me. Unfortunately many of the dining tables are in close proximityto the bar. Can we please not be the fiftith state in the country to outlaw indoor smoking!

  12. Actually, there was a blip (emphasis on blip) about today's game in the P-D this morning. We got a little less than 75 words in the roundup of yesterday's basketball scores on page B13.

Illinois did get an article on their OT win over Kent State, but not by a P-D writer. They used an article by a Chicago Tribune writer.

If you're looking for a daily collection of sports, The Sporting News has a free daily online publication which you can have delivered directly to your e-mail inbox. It's called Sporting News Today. I don't read it most days, mainly because it's so extensive (at least 30 pages), but it is very good.

I totally agree with the The Sporting News daily email update. When I have time it is great.

  13. No one outside of the teams and the staff are allowed to watch. What I heard was that the team played hard and held their own for long periods. Memphis had two stars injured so they could not play. I believe the staff is very happy with Lisch, Lidell and the freshmen.

At the meet and greet last week Majerus mentioned that a select group of SLU fans / donors would be attending the Memphis practice. He said if they donated enough money anyone could go.

  14. A few questions/comments:

-If you went to the speech, you had to be there early for the debate, right?

-What network broadcast did they show on the screens for the debate?

-Was the crowd made up of pretty much all GOP supporters, or were there any pro-Obama-Biden people?

-Was it sold out, or did it at least look full?

    -Was it general admission seating?

-I'm sure the closure of Compton had a lot to do with the time it took to leave the garage- shouldn't be that bad on game nights. Majerus and Palin probably don't have the same level of security detail.

I have had LONG delays exiting that garage on more than one occasion with Compton open. I really don't want to park in that garage for bball but am hesitant on the street parking north of there.

  15. I have yet to visit Pi, but I can vouch for Onesto in the up-and-coming Macklind Business District, another of the pizza joints to open up recently. Good stuff.

Both Pi and Onesto produce some tasty pies.

Onesto puts their smoker to great use with some of their pizza toppings.

The corn meal crust at Pi works!
