  1. Those are some good points. While I certainly wouldn't want Brad to turn his back on recruits from outside the St. Louis area (and I don't think he ever would), I do think that successful St. Louis recruiting is a major key to our future success, just like it has been to the majority of our past success. Like Roy has said, the local kids who stay here to play really seem to be embraced by the fans and the community, and that's got to be a selling point for us.

I'll take Liddell and Shaw in a heartbeat!

  2. Would you say that our chances of getting Shaw are better than SIU's, since they have a new coach? I guess Painter probably already had established a relationship with Shaw, but who knows.

Is SIU one of the few programs still recruiting Terry Evans? From what I've gathered from this board, it doesn't sound like we're recruiting him at all. I hope things work out for him with his injury.

It sure would be nice to round out this recruiting class with Liddell and Shaw. :)

  3. The Business Journal article only mentions that SLU is considering buying the public school property. As you would expect, Biondi and Kathy Brady didn't divulge much on their intentions, but Brady did state, "We've acquired about 50 percent of the site (the original site in Grand Center). That's a lot, but it's still only 50 percent. We're reaching the point where we're going to have to give up and go on." She also said that SLU has space to place its sports arena on the university campus. The article says that SLU is unlikely to seek condemnation rights in the Grand Center neighborhood. Said Brady, "We've asked ourselves how much is it worth to put the (arena) there in Grand Center. At some (price) point, it will cost us more than the $15 million, and we want to see the neighborhood developed too."

Apparently Brady will be upading the board of trustees on the arean site plans today.

I hope that we do buy the school property. I think it would be a win-win situation for SLU and Grand Center.

  4. I don't know, there are a lot of fat P.E. teachers out there...

I don't think anyone was putting DePaul down for offering a P.E. program. It's just that when a school like DePaul is attracting juco transfers, you have to wonder what they're doing differently than we are. Looks like we have our answer.

  5. Best of luck to you, Steve! Be sure to take advantage of all that college, and more specifically, college in D.C. has to offer. I know that your college experience will be exciting and fun, and you'll have the time of your life.

The best advice I can give you is actually from the movie Billy Madison - stay...stay as long as you can. Seriously, stick around for a 5th year and prolong the inevitable. The real world is not nearly as much fun.

Thanks for all the hard work you've put in on Billikens.com!

  6. Do I see the point? No. I think it's a waste of time. We might as well compare every player on Mizzou's roster to every player on our roster while we're at it. I think it would be worthwhile to compare Polk to PGs recruited by other schools in our conference, teams we actually play, but not to Horton.

  7. I don't hate Mizzou, but I also don't come to this site to learn more about what's going on with the basketball program there. I'm probably one of the few people on this board who is not concerned with the Tigers or their fans.

I also don't think there's any reason to closely follow Horton's career and compare it to Polk's. Had we been recruiting Horton, a comparison may have been relevant and interesting. If you want to compare Pulley, someone who had ties to the Billiken program, to Brandon Morris, that's actually interesting - you could see how Pulley may have contributed to our current team and tell if we would be better off with him or Morris. But if you're going to follow Horton and compare him to Polk, you might as well follow PGs at Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, SIUC or any other school.
