Had to go to Page 2, sadly Master Caleb Love is taking his basketball hoops talent to Michigan. Did anyone really think we'd even get a visit?

Nothing against Nantz but I would rather have Harlen or Gus Johnson.
According to an article I just saw on Sporting News website about last night being Nantz last game...Ian Eagle will take over his spot next season.

Quite an accomplishment that a former HC in Danny Hurley from the A-10 now stands at the Apex of big time college with a NCAA Tourney Championship. Was UConn under-seeded or did the higher seeds just fold...many in early round games to boot.

Yes, it's him. He's from San Ramon Valley High in Contra Costa County, not far from Cal Berkeley on the other side of the Caldicott Tunnel.
So a former Cal player, Jared Haase is coaching Stanford, while Mark Madsen, a former Stanford player, will be coaching arch-rival Cal.
And Cal will not be down forever. Cal has had a number of good basketball teams over the years. Jason Kidd played hoops at Cal, as did former Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson and many others.
I was at that game at what was then Key Arena...had to look it up Madsen had 15 points. Zags shot lights out from 3 point land and got the upset win. That was when Monson was their HC.
-
Nope...the Stanford player I was thinking about was actually Mike Montgomery. Stanford was ranked high that year too! That was a big upset for the Zags but they had several players who were deadly from 3 point land!

Former Stanford player and current Utah Valley Coach Mark "Mad Dog" Madsen is in line to be the next Cal Coach. He would be a good hire, an up and coming coach with Bay Area ties.
Thinking he played in the NCAA Tourney Game I saw Gonzaga beat Stanford. If he's the same Stanford I'm thinking about he was a star for them. That was a good game too!

Excellent news for next seasons team. Gibson is a fine representative of SLU and a heckuva SLU Hoops player and super glad to have him back!

I love SLU. SLU does not love me back.
Box and Won having spent a lot of money going there attending games and donating money to SLU I have the same thoughts you conveyed here!

Welp now you’ve done it! Any chance we had at him you just pissed away. I read on this board that recruits read this stuff and are so soft that any negativity will scare them off.
Thanks a lot!!
diary...Caleb Love would be nice for SLU but you shouldn't get your hopes too high. Lot's of Power 5 U's also want him too, and in UNC he's leaving a basketball U with a whole bunch of success in their past. No substantiated rumor on any leader so far, but it will be interesting to see who wins the NIL battle for his services.

Trust me when I say no one is criticizing you because of your views on Ford.
Ignore works fine for me on Little Bill Fan and several of his ilk! Don't need to read their junk anymore...so Nice!!!

Be very surprised if Love visits SLU. I heard yesterday he might transfer to FSU and that would make sense he'd sign on with another P-5 program.
-
NIL is here and I'd agree with the sentiment of The A_Bomb, no use complaining about. Best to figure out how it can work for SLU Hoops.

Really Schasz? I thought we were the favorite
No, but we are getting a visit from the OU PG Noland who averaged 3.2 PPG.

Thanks for the hot take.
You're Welcome!

I was actually thinking one might have better odds at winning the lottery than SLU getting even a visit from Caleb Love now. No, he has many P-5 teams to choose from that will have the NIL $'s he needs to sign on the dotted line.

Always. I thought this program was headed straight to the big east.
For everyone that doesn't remember: THIS is what the end of the season is supposed to look like. THIS is collegiate athletics at its finest.
Those were the days my friends!

I was there. Those were the good times. I've never been more optimistic after a loss than that day. Just before we had watched SPUMAC and "faith in haith" get taken down by... Norfolk State. And Coach K got way more Lehigh than he ever wanted in his life.
That was truly the best basketball trip i've ever been on.
I felt the same way about Billiken Hoops even in defeat they played a very good game. Made me proud to be a SLU Alum and Billiken fan.
Most fun I had attending basketball games were the two Final Fours I attended by being a SLU season ticket holder. Both were held at the St. Louis Arena. First one UCLA beat what was Memphis State. The second one Kentucky beat Duke. Nothing better than attending a Final Four!

Horns247 reporting Texas has reached a five-year, $15.3 million contract agreement with Rodney Terry to become the Longhorns’ new basketball coach.
Well deserved by Coach Terry

The HC who will be in a much different income bracket after the NCAA Tourney is FAU's Dusty May. He will be well into the 7 figure category for some team next season.

How much NIL money has FAU been giving out?
Asking the wrong person but I'm sure one could find it if so inclined to do.

Miami FL was also in the Elite 8 last year too. Pack didn’t play on that team. Pack is a good player. Out of 24 All Conference ACC players this year, Nigel Pack didn’t make any of the All Conference teams. 3 other Miami players did.
It’s important for SLU to have NIL money moving forward. Few will disagree with that. I’m all for that. But many teams have won at high levels this year without big NIL money. And it isn’t the reason SLU’s results were less than some others this year.
And it isn't the reason SLU's results were less than some others this year. Very well said...NIL money alone will unfortunately not be the savior for our SLU hoops program. No question it would help, if other important things are put in place too!

If I handle the first million, can you handle the second million? Then the rest of the MBM's can throw in the misc. $200.000.
Forgot to mention that in Jim Larranaga the U has a HC who has had a successful track record in not only finding talent but in developing the talent so that you see his teams no matter where he was HC in the past make deep NCAA runs. Lest we forget his 1st Final 4 was with Mid Major George Mason. His record as a successful HC must be factored into the equation too!

i think it demonstrates that they arent as much of an upset as the NCAA and the power 5 conferences want the college basketball world to believe. the supposed mid majors are much better than what they want us to believe. That said, the new NiL b.s. and the liberal use of the portal and the changing of the rules for sitting out when transferring will imo continue to move things to a level and divide the NCAA is wanting. it's all about the money and they do not want us mid majors sharing if possible.
But look who is in the Final 4 Florida Atlantic University. Hmm...what do you think that says if they are the ones cutting the nets down next Monday???

Our Jesuit U in the West Gonzaga loses their star and then just reloads with another big POY from his conference. Guess that is why HC Few has made 24 NCAA Tourney Appearances in a row.
