  1. I would not classify any of the aforementioned players as a real pg. Marque is a 3 in a pgs body, while he did a great job of handling the ball, he was no majic johnson. Drejaj improved over the course of the year with ballhandling and passing, but I still would not call him a true PG. Fischer with his defensive assignments can never be the guy bringing up the ball every play, plus he lacks some pg skills, and passing and ballhandling is behind perry and drejaj. We didn't have a guy lasy year who could bring the ball up the floor against the press, then direct the team in the offense and getting the team to move and have the offense run fluidly. Lets face it the offose was dead alot of times becasue we did not have that playmaker or distributor on the team. MOrris hopefully will bring that aspect to the team, I guy who fill all the roles that a pg needs to.

  2. Here is my criteria for 2 and 3.

    A 2 guard is 6'3 or under

A SF at the college level must be at least 6'4 but better if he is 6'5 or 6'6.

There can be variables at play here but like was before if you can guard the 3 you can be the three. Fischer could be a 3 even though he is 6'2, cuz he has the strength to guard a 6'7 guy. But those cases are rare. If a guy like Izik or the tall wings on Marquette or Minnesota were out there I would much prefer my 3 to be at least 6'5. The Protypical 3 for a Billiken would be Jeffers or Roland.

  3. Pilz has great connections, they are just hoping he can turn them around. There are very few guys interested in UMSL, so Pilz may have been the best of the lot. Who knows with more mature players maybe he will have more success.

I wonder who will get tabbed for Haz. Central. If they get a decent coach they should be state contenders.

    How many did SLU have?

  5. Jones is a nice player, but his spot has been filled with Polk. With Lisch also hopefully coming the year after Jones would be hard pressed for minutes.

Jackson is a helluva talent, he was a prodigy in jr high. Back then he was the best player in his class. He has stagnated in HS, but his sudden improvement las year was encouraging. This will be a big year for him, if he continues his progress he could get some high major looks and definetely a top JUCO or Prep school will go after him.

  6. Query, why does estiger, such an ardent tiger fan he cannot tolerate even a little dissent, lurk on a billiken board? Is he really trying to out some of his tiger friends making anti-mizzou comments or does he secretly want to be a fan of a program that values honesty integrity, ethics and education over everything else?

  7. Defensive lapses are tough, especially with that being the only area where we have veteran players. Hutton was very good last year lets hope this was an off game, but we do have at least 2 other goalies on the roster who are capable of pushing for a spot. I think you would the experienced guy like hutton out there but there are other options.

  8. Soderberg may have said he wants to sign all wing guys, but we do have an offer out to Shaw, or it is thought that we did a couple weeks ago. If there is an offer out there I think Soderberg now thinks Shaw will go somewhere else and SLU is out. If Shaw accepts I don't think Soderberg is going to turn him away because he only wants wing players.

I happen to agree with you guys also, Shaw can defend all over the court, but his offensive skills are not good enough to play on the wing at this point. He could be a versatile guy who could stick a big body on a guy like Wade or Stokes but on offense he needs to be on the blocks.

  9. Not a real big soccer fan, but anything billiken interests me so I tuned in this afternoon to Coach Donegan on a rare soccer related interview on local sports talk radio.

He made not that they had an expended exhibition season with their first game coming up soon, and mentioned their tough schedule with almost all of their opponents being top 20 caliber schools. Said at first the teams strength would be at defense where 3 starters return and 3 out of the 4 jrs or srs on the team (the other jr being the goalie). I couldn't believe that he said 23 out of the 27 man roster were frosh or sophs???? Really young team, but they have the No 3 rated freshman class in the nation, a couple of them are playing on the U-17 national team. Donegan the top scorers would be a a foreign guy Nedad or something, he is really real;ly good, and another frosh who is on that U-17 team Deondro or something like that. Tomorrow if anyone wants to know 1380 at about 1:00 will have the womens coach on.

  10. New stuff coming out every day, this is not going away for Pretty Boy. Sanctions, probabtion, death penalty, who knows but it is coming down for Mizzou. All the notriety they have gained and advances on the court will grind to a halt. I would like to see SLU be the best missouri bball program by beating mizzou but this is almost as good.

  11. Maybe he has worked on it. Now playing against less than stellar competition it may look better. This is not just my single observation, I noticed it and was it was validated by a couple people on the board and I have heard Earl Austin Jr comment on it twice, once at a billiken club meeting.

  12. If Meyer say yes to SLU that is good enough for me. If Stanford is after him there must be something there although we all have heard or seen his slow as mollasses shot.

I really would like us to get more than one area player this year. We must be in on some guys outstate though. Rivals still lists us as strong for Justin Cerasoli, so who knows.
