The grocery store was Usselmans (sp?) 10 cent bologna sandwiches.

Boy do I remember Usselman’s. Went to SLU from ‘66-‘70. There was an older sandwich maker, always had his back to you, would turn slightly and say “whatta ya want ,Bub?” He’d get pissed if you weren’t ready with your order, and if you were ready it was almost like he had made the sandwiches before you even told him what you wanted. We also ate a lot at Garavelli’s on Olive. Next door was a pool hall right out of the movie “The Hustler”. Heading back to St Louis next August to reprise, believe it or not,  my Honeymoon in St. Louis in 1973. Doing a Vanity/Legacy project. Will be photographing at the locations of my old haunts, Talayna’s, Bruno’s Batcave, Rossini’s- you name it. Going to make a photo book and try to find photos from the 60’s, along with my photos. In Spring of ‘69 I used to play guitar and sing at Lum’s restaurant at 6th and Pine. Got $15/night on Friday’s and Saturdays- gave $5 to my bass man and had $10 for myself.  Boy, time flies.
