Marquette has finished 68, 93 and 97th in Pomeroy the past 3 years. No f'ing way they win the A-10 or even come close any of those three years. God I hate Marquette fans...

Ok since I guess you don't follow college basketball too much, MU just got a new coach, Wojo from Duke, who had to play with 7 scholarship players after Buzz left and was gifted with geting Luke Fischer to transfer in. Let me show you their current roster at the beginning of the year and tell me how it stacks up to the A 10.

(Ok rankings based on verbal commits overall rankings per player, just to keep it steady across the board)

    Juan Johnson 4* (27 Overall, 4 position) Katin Reinhart 4* ( 37 overall, 7 position) Luke Fischer 4* (64 overall, 9 position) Duane Wilson 4* (overall 55, 12 pos)

    Hanif Cheatam 4* (75 overall, 25 pos) Matt Heldt 3.7* (111 overall 27 pos) Markus Howard 4* (29 overall, pos 7) Sam Hauser 3.7* (100 overall, 18 pos)

They lost Henry Ellison 5* to early pro and Sandy Cohen and Traci Carter both 4* this year. Please explain how we don't want this kind of roster again? Also please tell me how this would stack against the A10? I am a huge SLU fan, grew up watching MU, but you can't ignore the parallels between the two programs, especially right now (new coach coming in to turn the program around, similar cities and recruiting areas)

Maybe I'm coming off as a jerk for being realistic, but the truth is, we are turning around quick, but we aren't going to be the 2013-2014 team right away. We need a fresh roster, people that fit Ford's style. Jalen Johnson as an upperclassmen will be a stud, and this is still Welmer's freshmen season but other than that there is plenty of room on the roster for change. Transfers help turn around teams.

  2. Seriously I really appreciate everyone saying yes to this guy. Also I am very ticked off that I got for proposing to take a 4* from MU, a team with over 7 4* players because they were Marquette's scraps and aparently MU is nothing but average. Let me tell ya something, if Marquette was in the A10, they would win every year, The big east recruits at a significantly higher level than the A10, but hopefully soon SLU will be Elite among a few competitive teams for the title, VCU, Dayton and RI. We are very bad this year and a complete turnaround can happen, but we cant be so picky. This transfer would be a great option.

My question was what is your fixation, your connection, on Marquette?  Your two 'recommendations' that SLU pick up were from Marquette. It was meant to be a friendly inquiry.

Assuming both Eagles are/were 4*, [I'm too lazy to look it up], they haven't been killin' it in Milwaukee. So does that make Wojo or Ford a potato?  I fail to see your connection on that one.

Why is Traci Carter better than Foreman, Henriquez, or Bess?  I never said we were 'too good' for anyone.

Why is he better? well he is a 4* which Bess is the only one who comes close and that really doesnt matter since they wont be competing against each other seeing how Traci is a PG.

With the potato thing I meant that the reality is the coach doesnt matter so much if you are completly outmatched talent wise. Maybe they aren't killing it at MU but the bottom 5 of MU could beat our top 5. Traci maybe wasn't a standout but its hard to be a standout on a team with top talent. Traci came into a top 10 recruiting class. SLU should be glad to get the "rejects" from A programs. I would take DUKE rejects anyday

  4. Ok first off, we. need a PG, and secondly these players would look like gold at SLU. Want to take a look at Marquettes recruits vs ours? We have absolutly zero 4* recruits averaging 2.5 and SLU has about 8 4* not including the two who just left, Cohen and Traci who were both 4*. You can have a potato as a coach on both sides and MU would completely run the table on SLU. Traci would look good on our team and would be the best transfer we would have anyways. I look forward to your side on how we are "too good" for Traci...

  5. Marquette plays SIUE tonight at 7:30. The reason I made this post is because MU could be what SLU is in the future. MU averages around a 4* recruit on the court. It will be interesting to see how they play against SIUE and see how SLU and them can compares since they are both very similar programs (SLU and MU)

On a per 40 minute basis Bess averaged over 10 points and over 8 rebounds last season. That is on MSU team that plays at a below average pace and a tougher schedule than SLU will ever play.  Per 40 minute numbers alone aren't a great way to judge a limited minute guy, but they at least put his number in a different perspective.

Absolutely. I am friends with a few managers who I wont disclose, from what they said, all 3 transfers are better than any of our players right now. Bess was the best player in Ohio I believe his recruiting year or something close to that right?

By definition, averages are strictly on games played.  He played in 44, starting 16.  A total of 500 minutes.  It's all on the SLU website.  Hey, I hope he is part of the answer, but I wouldn't pencil Bess in for double figure ppg next year.  Maybe he a the lockdown defender or a 'glue guy'.

I would argue that he was also playing for Michigan State, obviously we aren't getting their best player but if Izzo started the guy, there is something to him. He was also battling injury.
