Johnson is 0-5 tonight and yes all of the new players cannot come fast enough this is brutal.

Yea I checked the box score since Johnson usually has low points but high shooting %. That is far from today. Disappointing, he was supposed to be a top ranked recruit but the kid looks like he needs to be told to tie his shoes. He looks lost as hell, hopefully being a veteran will help?

  2. So I am watching the game on my laptop, while flipping through the big games on tv, Villanova vs Butler, Rutgers vs Michigan st (to see where our transfers are coming from) and Duke vs Georgia tech. It seems clear that these teams are far more athletic. Our new players will completely change how this teams looks, we wont even recognize them. Does anyone else see our team moves like they're really heavy? These other teams seem to glide on the court, we look like we have heavy weights in our shoes

  3. I really think we need to stop comparing our current transfer's stats from their previous teams to how they will perform at SLU. Players like Bess especially will outperform at SLU than they did at their previous schools. Time will tell, but from what I heard at practices, these three guys run the floor on all of our current players.

5 seniors who have played together for 4 years will be different than what we have next year

True but I can see Goodwin being our next Jett and French being our next Dwayne Evans, after that we do have a much more talented class coming in than I think we ever had in history, What would we rank in recruiting class if transfers were included?

  5. I take back what I said about Bishop, but it seems clear that Gillman and Nuefield are wasting away 2 scholarships. I agree with Kmbilliken, Ford shouldn't have to hang onto a team with Crews mistakes, his job is dependent on a winning program and I don't think he will rather be nice to our teams worst scholarship players than lose out on some quality recruits who could push us to a possible top 25 program

also.... Rutgers sucks, UCF sucks, Bess wasnt getting PT at Mich State, Boston College sucks..... Ford likely pitched them a chance at postseason basketball

I almost always look at Verbal Commits to check out rosters of teams my favorite teams are playing against to get a picture of what they're roster looks like, and try to get a picture of what ours might be in a few years. The trend I have seen is that teams with a star studded roster almost always have a large portion of transfers, which seems to be common with top level recruiting programs. That's where I see Bess as one of our best transfers (Remember how M State was supposed to be a final four contender). These guys didn't just transfer for playing time, they transferred to be stars again like they were in high school. These guys are going to work hard. I think Goodwin will also energize this team as well, which works perfect with Ford

  7. To be honest I think we can do without a center, and would rather just have a talented PF. I think Gillman, Nuefield, Zeke and Bishop would be helping the program to leave, since they are all outclassed by the incoming recruits, and are painful reminders of Crews. I am just ticked off that Illinois has so many options for scholarships available and can give offers to Smith like they did about an hour ago. i feel like he could be a lock for us

I understand your passion for the Marquette BB program I wish the Billikens was as successful and miss playing them however the A10 is not a trash league and you need to take a step back.

i would have been happy with the four star Marquette transfers as long as coach Ford was.

The Wiz has spoken on how Marquette would compete A10.

Enjoy both programs passionate one and have a happy new year.

The A10 is not a trash league and I apoligize if it came out that way, in terms of recruiting talent however, I think its safe to say we are not a power conference in recruiting. With all the Salt from Illini fans in their newspapers about us taking their talent I think we have a great future. Saying it again, we have a great area to recruit from and I'm sure that was Travis Ford's biggest advantage to coming here. Also his OSU team (while not coached under him) is 10-2 right now. His recruits vs what we have right now from Crews team, future looks good

Why would anybody leave once the second semester started?  That makes no sense - do I think someone may leave in the spring - sure but not now.  As far as Bishop goes, he can still play plenty next year.

I meant intent to transfer before spring like a lot of players have done already, just not on our team

  10. Is it at all possible for Ford to recruit anymore for 2017 if he expects a few players to leave in the spring season before the season is over? It seems obvious that we will have a few players leave after the season but I don't think Ford or us wants to have to pick up the scraps after all is said and done
