  1. If that type of student attendance is sustainable and the community start to embrace the team more and cheer more (which will happen if the team is winning and we play notable teams), our house could become one of the toughest arenas to play in. It is already a pretty difficult place to play in but it could become better this year. I wouldn't be surprised to see SLU go undefeated at home this year.

  2. Indiana v. Saint Louis in Atlanta, see you all there.

Reasonably 25-4 regular season, undefeated at home, A10 regular season and tournament title, Sweet 16. IMO anything less than round of 32 will be a disappointment at the moment (this may change over the course of the season.)

  3. So IMO bracket looks pretty favorable for SLU with the first game against LaSalle and second game more than likely against Xavier. Even if we lose first or second round I think we should still qualify for an at large bid given our RPI and SOS. Any news on whether or not their will be an online stream of round one and two games before the televised championship on CBS Sports?

    Any predictions?

  4. Any idea if the athletic department plans on offering the soundless stream (at least it was in color) for this game? Only 7 games are not televised this year, so hopefully they are planning on putting something together for those 7. If they add sound I wouldn't mind paying for them considering as soon as they are on TV I plan on finding a free stream somewhere.

  5. Just because I love to beat a dead horse a little bit more... Does anyone think RM watched/will watch the tape from the games? I know RM health is of course the main priority, but judging from what I have heard about RM and Crews relationship it doesn't seem outlandish to think they talk. Of course no matter what, missing RM will probably catch up with the team eventually, but to be honest he was more of an out of the game coach and really left the game to the other guys so a little advice from coach to crews would probably be good. Maybe what he would say is get more time to Drew and GG and not so much to Barnett...

  6. Seems reasonable... assuming we defeat Texas A&M and play well against Kansas we should be in the top 25. If we beat Kansas that would probably leave us somewhere in the teens. The Valpo game might end up being nice for the RPI assuming they stay strong.

Looks like a stronger A10, but a very different balance of power than in recent memory. Hopefully KM will be back in sooner than has been discussed even though we could probably get through OOC without missing him too much.

  7. SLU #12 RPI (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0Ap50qE_fBUB-dHNuUDNaU3JMS0NhRHNDYmN5Y2Fvbmc&single=true&gid=12&range=A1%3AG206&output=html)

Granted our SOS will fall a little over the next two months (does not help that most of the "more difficult" conference games are at home), but we look two be an at-large bid if we do not win the conference or have an awful game against lower RPI teams such as GW or Temple. However, if these guys keep it up, I do not think it is unreasonable for SLU to compete for one of the top 16 bye spots.

And like everyone else on this board, we NEED to bring back the SIUE v SLU rivalry. I would also like to see another annual rivalry game possibly Louisville (played 3 times in 5 years) or Creighton (typically another strong team and regional).

  8. Wahhh wahhh wahhh. Holy Lord every single thread these days is about how much SLU blows in some way. Lets all just continue to b!tch about how much SLU sucks and how much the President and everyone involved with the school blows and how much the basketball program will never be good again.

If anyone has not read the board for the past few weeks, here is the summary:

SLU basketball is in it's worst state ever with zero hope for improvement.

Our school is crumbling as we speak and there is nothing good about it.

    _________________________________________________________

Last time I checked applications, enrollment, and test scores are as high as they've ever been. Our bball team is coming off its best season in 60 years and is likely more talented this year.

If all of your lives are that miserable, go b!itch to your wife or boss about it. If you want to talk about crushing poon, winning bball games and how Jim Crews is going to win a national titty this year then let's do it.

THANK YOU FOR SAYING THIS! All we have been doing here is complaining about SLU lately. From where I stand, in the business school, academics are great, our faculty is great, our school is great, and I have a bright future. Every university has their issues and works their way through it, what makes SLU any different? I know many faculty and students come to SLU because of the ideals we represent and our place in the community, that has not changed one bit. Biondi must be doing something right, because it is hard to say the school has not made great advancements while he has been President. Maybe he is past his prime, maybe he can help guide SLU to greater prestige... with how much he has done for our institution I find it hard to believe he will tear us down. And like you said, SLU has been growing annually for sometime now, including this Class of 2016, so something must be going right there.

As for the basketball team, let the kids play. I know a few of these guys and it'll be a great season, sure there may be some "hiccups" but we are going to do fine. Last I checked, our athletics now, university wide, are better now than they have been in a long time. Plus if Biondi does micromanage this team as much as we say he does, why would you think he would let them down. This program will become a great marketing tool for improving the entire university, Biondi and the administration should realize that (any marketing student would!).

  9. Just thought I would share this with the group. This email was just sent out to the university. Should be interesting folks.

That did not work.... here is the letter...

    September 24, 2012

TO: SLU Faculty, Staff and Students

FROM: Thomas H. Brouster, Sr. Chairman of the Board of Trustees

I write to communicate to the SLU Community that at its September 22, 2012, meeting, the Board of Trustees unanimously affirmed its approval of the University’s strategic planning efforts, its goal to rank the University among the top 50 universities in the United States, and the efforts necessary to achieve the goals of the Strategic Plan and to advance the excellence of the University.

The Board of Trustees also approved the appointment of a blue ribbon committee, made up of representatives of the academic deans, the academic department chairs, the faculty, the administration, the staff, and students, to identify and recommend processes and criteria to achieve the objectives of the Strategic Plan.

The Board of Trustees further affirmed its confidence in the University President and all of the University’s Vice Presidents to continue to lead the strategic planning process to its successful implementation.

In advancing the University’s efforts for excellence, the Board of Trustees further stated its support of the September 14, 2012, agreement of the Executive Committee of the Faculty Senate, the Academic Deans, the Vice Presidents and the President to proceed with meaningful and continuous faculty development within the context of a collaborative process and implementation in order to continue to advance the University.

On behalf of the University’s Trustees, thank you for your service and commitment to Saint Louis University.
