  1. Frustrating end to both the baseball and softball seasons this year. BB was #1 seed and SB was #2 seed going into the conference tournaments, and both teams were 2 and through. Congrats to all the players for record-setting regular seasons, and especially to the seniors as many of them conclude their playing careers and begin their true life's journeys.

  2. Thanks for the VLC setup info. I, too, had some trouble with it & it took a few tries, but when I finally figured out what you meant by "copy to VCL", it all finally worked! Great quality video. Thanks!

We have a friend who plays for a DII school - is there a way to find a link for the streaming video for those games? TIA.

  3. Hey everyone, they also have the Billiken Pride and SLUNATICS t-shirts in the bookstore, $25.

Yes, I saw those a couple of days ago in the bookstore, too. Plus, they were having a 25% (or was it 20%) off sale on all T-shirts. Don't know if that sale has ended or not.

  4. Anyone think Chaifetz will host a watch party again this year?

Sure hope so. I'm actually going to be in STL later this week. I would love to watch the game at Chaifetz with a few thousand other SLU fans. Anyone heard anything about this possibly happening?

  5. JJ's got my vote for MVP. DE looked really good, too. Surprised to even see them playing, given what was said here the past few days. But I'm sure glad they did. We really needed them.

That was a tough game to watch. I really thought SLU was going to lose another one. So happy they pulled it out for the A-10 championship. But we can't keep playing like this in the A10 & NCAA tourneys. Let's work on 3s, FTs & getting 10 point or more leads so we don't have to go down to the buzzer.

And, lastly, Congrats, guys!!! You did it again!!

  6. it's been fun to watch these guys. When my kid first started at SLU in 2009, it was hard to find a game to watch from out of town. A TV game was a real rarity. This season, almost every game has been on national TV. Mostly thanks to these guys. With some help from KM, CE, BC, CR and a few others. Best of luck to Dwayne, Jordair, Mike, Rob & Jake in whatever paths they take in the future. Thanks for everything you have done for SLU. It's been a great ride! Let's keep it going - we all know you still have some great games left! :D

  7. 5 ranked teams lost on Thursday. 5 top 10 teams lost today. And 10 of the top 25 lost. Ouch.

    From Bleacher Report:

The NCAA tournament doesn't start for another two-and-a-half weeks, but the madness is well under way with ranked teams dropping left and right.

After five ranked teams fell on Thursday night, another 10 AP Top 25 squads suffered a loss on Saturday.

What does all this chaos means for the projected brackets?

    I'm glad you asked.

One thing is for surenot all losses are created equal.

    Weren't Even Favored in Vegas

    Cincinnati, Saint Louis and Texas

Many of us expected Saint Louis to bounce back from a tough loss to Duquesne with a road win over VCU. Others thought that Cincinnati and Texas would be able to win on the road against struggling Connecticut and Oklahoma.

    But not Vegas.

Saint Louis opened as a 4.5-point dog against the Rams. Cincinnati was expected to lose by five pointsas was Texas.

After the loss to Connecticut, Cincinnati's head coach Mick Cronin told reporters, "We were awful from pillar to post. We weren't connected. We want things to be easy. Well, welcome to March."

The major-conference losses won't mean much in the grand scheme of thingsespecially considering all the other teams that lost on Saturday. At most, Cincinnati and Texas will each drop by one seed line in the next round of projected brackets.

Saint Louis might not have that luxury, though.

The loss to VCU certainly won't damage the Billikens' computer profile, but it was another blemish on the eye test. In their last eight games, they have lost twice, been pushed to overtime twice by George Mason and won another two games by just one possession.

Eking your way through an entire month of A-10 play isn't the best way to improve your standing with the selection committee.

Before the loss to Duquesne, I was prepared to project Saint Louis for a No. 3 seed. Now, the Billikens will be teetering between a No. 5 or No. 6 seed.

  8. The ESPN announcers on the Kentucky - LSU game just mentioned JJ as "coolest player" (I think). They said they loved his name, his hair, how he plays.... Wish I was watching on a TV with a DVR so I could replay.

They gave "coolest uniforms" to UMass for their "anthracite sleeved jerseys" that they wore last night.

  9. Gawd, my BP is just getting back to normal. It shouldn't be this hard!!

Great win, though. GM is a good team. Much better than their record shows. Glad we are just a little bit better.

Hit the gym when you get back, guys. Free throws, free throws, free throws.......

  10. Congrats to BigMouth & all the other winners.

I sure wish the whole band could go, or most of them.

I am still ambivalent about the contest - I would bet this has to be costing $50K to $100K. There are a lot of athletes that train & condition all year long and play their sport for most of a semester - and are told by their coach that their sport has no scholarship money for them. Many are walk-ons playing for the school for free. It's just a little hard for those athletes to accept the situation. I know the BB program brings in probably 99% of the revenue & the AD can do what he wants, but a D-1 athletic program should support all its athletes. And given all the extra money the BB program has received by going to the NCAA tourney, I would hope they would consider doing just that.

[Question for the winners - do you have to report the value of the trip as taxable income?]
