  1. This will be a tough hire. Whitesell's Timing was terrible. Similar to the Jenson's resignation /- who was replaced by the one year wonder JC

Maybe JC can entice the general to reup for a year. Would be a great x and o assistant coach

    Iggy ~ your thoughts?

And maybe Dean Smith will be Director of Basketball Operations.

  2. This. I keep track of what I can, and use every update offered, but sometimes these things come out of nowhere and wrap up immediately. Roby is a perfect example. The next four commits could come from the list, from out of nowhere, in the spring, or some combination.

Which is exactly why I laugh when certain people freak out when a recruit doesn't commit. There are plenty of recruits we have never heard of and plenty of recruits on the list that SLU has zero interest in. Go Bills!

  3. Funny, I didn't see Jared Drew's name on any of those lists! :o

Jared Drew is so classy and did nothing wrong but still had such a great love for SLU that he declined to be included in the list. I can't believe he is taking the high road after Coach Crews so heartlessly and rudely took away his scholarship for absolutely no reason. He is such a jerk - and not to mention a horrible basketball coach.

  4. @Pistol --- I do read the recruiting threads. Well, I used to. Now I just scroll through and go to your updated listing. So thanks for that. The rest is too much and a lot of "who cares." Jolley for example. I was just curious because of Pope popping up on verbalcommits.com, where he had never appeared before.

Who cares jolley?! Come on Taj! You'll think differently when he leads us to back-to-back-to-back-to-back national titties

  5. I think nearly everyone would agree that if we could have Porter as an assistant on this staff he'd be an asset to our team.

If you want to make this a semi-interesting summer topic ask yourself what would have happened if Porter hadn't left for Loyola and was still here as the long time Associate Head coach. What would have happened when Majerus got sick?

I'd bet that he would have been given the interim head coaching job. Obviously, last year played out mostly like a dream so its hard to see how he could have done better than Crews on the court. And given the spring signing period and start to the fall period, I have no issues with how recruiting is going.

So would you rather have Porter leading the team or Crews? I'd take Crews but its interesting to think how things could have been different if Loyola hand't come calling.

Crews in a heart beat and if anyone says differently they should be examined.

For all the joking I do around Porter I liked him a lot. I still don't think he is cut out to be a head coach though. Wasn't his record as acting head coach 0-11 here when Rick was sick etc.?

Either way, no sane person could wish we had Porter over Crews with what has happened in the last 7 months (even though Crews can't coach, motivate, recruit, lead, communicate effectively, and runs players off who never did anything wrong and is a bad representative for our school)

  6. Guys - let's open our eyes a little here. Clearly every aspect of the program has been terrible since Porter left and it was probably the worst 2 yrs in Bills history. Porter is the only good thing that's ever happened to the program. case closed
