  1. So you definitely get it, WCB. There has to be a shift in the way SLU markets itself to the rest of the country. Fordham sends out literature with "Fordman - New York City's Jesuit university" on it. There's the identity and then there's the connection. We're missing out on both.

They should send out literature that says "Fordham - We blow at basketball and our girls aren't hot"

  2. He and Bweix are overly harsh towards the Bills. I think they do it to show they don't have a bias towards the program. It's a bit too much for me.

In general they are both insufferable on Twitter.

Almost as bad as good ole Nate Latsch. His last year or two covering the Bills became comical how directly negative he was towards the program. I even remember him drumming up the "end of the world" type fears when Moser left. It was easy to tell Majerus said something rude to him and good ole Nate made it his personal mission to make the Bills sound bad in the media. That clown was awful.

  3. hrrrrm, i'm guessing he injured it whilst offering up his face as a bench for the entire oregon cheerleading squad. he's truly a man for others, and a pretty shaft-tastic one at that.

This picture was taken right after since he made all these broads show their 'o face'

  4. Based on what femi and others have said it seems like Femi was fit to play in the sense that he could still run, jump, dribble and the like. He played in summer league, like I said. But he wasn't fit to handle the rigor of daily practice or perhaps the D1 speed. Given that Femi stayed with the team, It seems like everyone was on the same page with that. This is all based on factual info.

When you use the term "it seems like", that does not represent factual data.

  5. Taj is a hof billikens.com member. I look forward to his well thought, complete and honest posts.

Those taking shots at taj billiken commentary are just wrong. Maybe it is jealousy since typically the taj attackers contribute little beyond board policework and attempts to refocus real debate points taj brings to the table.

Luckily taj has thick skin and keeps coming back.

And a high tolerance...always an added bonus to going to an east coast road game is hangin with Taj at the happy hour!

  6. 6-10, 200lb Brett Jolly, reclassified to class of 2014 due to going the prep route, just got offered by Pepperdine.

I'm with HusakAttack, we need to extend an offer -- welcome to SLU, now get down there and weave your magic, Calbert.

Dude's a BALLER. Here's his latest from 2013 district playoffs

Getting Tatum to commit would help us lure Jolly in for sure.

  7. Looking back at Grandy's freshman year stats, I guess we need to make a distinction between minutes per game played by the player and minutes per game played by the team. Obviously, these numbers are per game played by the team. Grandy averaged 3.2 per game, but only played in 9 games total. He would have been less than 1 minute per team game played.

I just think Reggie is raw and will take a year to develop and get the system down. I'm optimistic he will develop into a great player, but I don't expect huge contributions from him his freshman year.

Cody averaged 28 minutes per game for the 1/2+ season he was here his freshman year. I understand that you are probably saying that team was not as deep as this years will be and therefore Cody played despite being raw. I think 10 mintues/game is reasonable. Basically, I agree with the poster who said they expect a 9 man rotation (8 non-freshman and 1 of the freshman). I am saying I expect that 1 freshman will be Lancona. My argument for him over Reggie is that I expect Lancona to be a better outside shooter and it seems that with the loss of Ellis, we will need another outside shooter. It will be fun to see how it works out.

Barnett will certainly see more minutes this year, I don't think anyone doubts that. Barnett also shot the same percentage as COdy from outside last year...problem solved.

  8. DE 32

    MM 31

    JJ 30

    RL 26

    AM 22

    GG 12

    JB 19

    JM 14

    TL 10

    RA 2

    MC 1.5

    Walk ons 0.5

    Total 200

As much as I like the "Ashanti Warrior" thing, I think Lancona gets more minutes than Reggie. TL just fits into the vacated Ellis spot so nicely it is hard to ignore. Despite having the year in prep school, I think RA will still be still raw and need to learn.

I also think that JB will get a few more minutes.

Do you remember how raw Cody was his freshmen year? If Lancona is like that, he will assuredly not crack the rotation this year

  9. If we are voting at this point, I LOSE.

I guess what it comes down to is the fact that I don't view GG or JM as top quality A-10 players and I'm much more hopeful about the ability of our freshmen than the great majority of posters. As long as one side is right we'll be good, however, if GG and JM meet my expectations and RA, TL and MC meet your expectations, then we are headed to the NIT. (I'm not expecting that)

I don't think it's that people don't have high expectations for the frosh...just not right away. I expect them all to be key contributors and impact players down the road. As good as they may be, SLU simply does not regularly land impact freshmen players.

  10. Not really - the process is basically the same. Doc B's timetable is not unusual and what I would expect to happen if the process is being run correctly - but that is a big "if". I would think they have a short list but and if not then this whole thing is not going as it should.

So you have led a search for a university president as well to say that they are the same? I have no doubt that they are similar, but imagine they have at least a handful of significant differences. I think its safe to say that the population of candidates for SLU's president is far less than the population of candidates for a superintendent.

Doc B's timelien seems accurate to me as well. The Board of Trustee's is comprised of some of the most successful and influential individuals in St. Louis and the country. I have no doubt that they will leave no stone unturned in their search and come up with a viable replacement.

  11. That is my prediction as well.

Mine too. I think starting lineup will be Mccall, Jordair, Dwight, Grandy, Loe with Barnett coming in a few minutes into each half for Grandy and the 5 seniors will be on the floor most of the time. Mcbroom will give the guards rest and Manning and Agbeko will get solid PT as well.

  12. Pretty sure in his college days husakattack set the standard. From my seat, he was a show by himself trying to counsel the blue crew from above in the sig ep section. Always with a full cup of refreshment in hand. It would make me pine for good ole days in college.

Im sure there were some records set in those days...

In fairness to today's undergrads, the basketball during my years was far less watchable than currently. Therefore, if I were a current student I would like have more interest in the game than drowning my sorrows. That being said, the Roadrunner beer man still knows where my seats are.

  13. I am amazed at the fact that many of you (me included) are really pleased with the quality of the 3 incomimg freshmen, yet don't see them playing much. I have read kshoe's position often that 3 freshmen will not be able to step in on a team that finished 16th in the rankings last year. Conceptionally that seems to make sense, however, when I break it down to evaluating the individual demonstrated talent of the returning players, I think we need a real contribution from at least 2 of the frosh.

If I rate the returning upperclassmen on a 10 point scale (10 being AA, 9 being all A-10 and 5 being a normal A-10 starter talent as guidepoints) I would rate our returners as follows: DE 9, MM 7.5, JJ 7.5, RL 5.5, JB 5, GG 3.5, JM 3. Obviously, there is room to disagree, but that's where I see them. I am hoping (speculating) that this year AM will be a 5.5-6, RA a 6-6.5, TL a 5.5 and MC a 5. I am also hoping to see some improvement in the returners - RL 6-6.5, JB 5.5, GG 4 and JM 4. However, even with those hoped for improved numbers, we need the FR to contribute. Another way to look at it is, "Would we be a NCAA tournament team with only the returning players plus AM?" I don't think so-I don't see a frontline of DE, RL, GG and JM as nearly enough to compete at a NCAA tournament level.

    Just one fan's opinion,

    Unique scale...

My logic behind this is because we have 5 quality seniors that will likely be our lineup when it counts...I could see Agbeko cracking in there but dont see any of the other frosh being better than any of the seniors this year...

  14. I have been through a number Superintendent searches for school districts - what I can tell you is all this is just PR to make people think you are not leaving any stone unturned. Truth be told it could have already been done by now if they wanted - this will drag on for the entire year probably and don't be surprised if Biondi agrees to stay on for another year to help the Board have all the time they need. They post who said it will be 2015 may have been joking but he may have been closer to the truth then most would have thought.

You may be right on cheeseman, but finding a new President for a top private university and a superintendant for a school district are very different things

  15. Actually, those are averages at the end of the year not for each game. I think a few of the players will be significantly under the above figures at the end of the year, just as I think a few will be under the "average" at the beginning.

    Who would you change?

I think Jordair and Mccall are gonna be in the 32-35 range...they are too key to this team...also even if McBroom is as amazing as ppl here seem to think he is still nowhere near the two senior studs

While freshmen might log minutes, I will bet you anything that all 3 of them will not average 10 mpg this yr unless we have several injuries
