I know i'm not the most beloved poster on here, but the wife and I were in concourse C when the tornado hit. It was terrifying, but we're both safe, ok, and home now.
Channel 5 said there were some injuries from broken glass. Glad to see you weren't one of them.

OK, just stop it right there. Billboy and Randy will not allow any optimistic projections.
Since when did we prohibit eye doctors from posting?

BCS Home and Home....nice.

Other people that would not live up to Roy's moral standards
Do any of them know how to employ a zone?
-
imo knight was a successful coach in terms of wins and losses, but i think he was a horrible person and i would never have allowed a child of mine to ever have played for him. i would not have ever have wanted knight to be our billiken coach.
The list of people Roy doesn't want to be our coach grows by 1 today. At least you're consistent about it.

Somehow I doubt that the U is going to be willing to pony up the dough it'd take to get Martin.
Depends...if they get Luther Campbell involved, money is no object.

you all do know that biancardi was fired from wright state because it was found out he was involved up to the top of his head with the ohio state cheating in the late 90's?
personally, i dont think we need someone like that on staff.
That's over a decade ago under Jim O'Brien, right? I would not worry about that at SLU.

Fair enough. Success cures all.
Or...Success mitigates the impending problems a little better.

Love how all you guys are turning my comment into some sort of "Mizzou is holier than SLU" thing when it really isn't even about that.
Actually, I'm turning it into "I'm so sick of the moral argument on both sides".
-
I think based on the way people felt about traingate that most people here would love to have basketball success regardless of morals.
When either program wins a title, then this argument makes more sense. Missouri has had more on-court success than SLU. I love how the "moral" argument comes up.

Took me 4 rounds to get in...

Back to the topic of this thread...
What would Painter to mizzou mean?
Keep looking Tigers.

I like your enthusiasm for SLU but if you are hoping that SLU will ever approach the level of devotion that UK BB has then you will be disappointed. Yes if they win in the tourney and make a Sweet 16 there will be some buzz maybe even a lil' frenzy but other than maybe 8 people on this board the hoi polloi will never live and die SLU BB.
Most likely you're probably right. Can we get that kind of buzz everyday? Probably not. That said, I'm the kind of idiot that holds out hope that we could one day get to the level of the big boys in every way.

I applied for some jobs and internships within SLU Athletics earlier this spring. I'm a business major so I'm hoping for some kind of marketing job. Not sure I could do anything to help market it all, but I certainly can't do anything to hurt it.
Do anything at all and you'll be ahead of the game.

I was at some function type thing at a bar a few years back.(I forget what exactly it was for)
There were about 100-150 people there and E-Mak was introduced as the MC.
When the bar manager said his name and he got on the stage the entire crowd started booing and yelling profanities at E-Mak. The booing and cussing went on for a good 3-4 minutes before the bar manager grabbed the mic and asked people to quite down.
E-Mak turned beat red up on the stage and looked like he was about to ###### himself.
It was one of the funnier things I have seen. that dude had to have felt like a giant ball of crap after that.
That's classic.

Thank you, jbizzle. And for the sake of not derailing this thread, I deleted my previous comment.
As Ozzy once sang ...[this thread is] going off the rails on a crazy train. Good work rerouting.

My favorite Rams cheerleader is Mary Beth...who just happens to be a SLU grad.
At that moment, Brendan loved his decision.

I spent a lot of time in KY on business many years ago and KY basketball is a religion around the state. Even in Louisville, although UL has a hardcore fan base as well. But keep in mind it's Kentucky. Other than the Derby, which is viewed by the people who live in the hills to be for the rich, KY hoops is it for them. St. Louis is different because of the pro teams and, hate to say it, but Mizzery as well. Spoon proved a winner can generate buzz, but we'll never by a KY, IU, Duke, etc.
So true. They had one local radio station that ran a drive-time sports callin show, and the host did nothing but field questions about UK basketball. The host made Kevin Slaten look like Peter Jennings too, as he might have been the most inept reporter (and I use the term loosely) I've ever heard. His co-host, Mike Cameron, was actually quite enjoyable when he wasn't kissing Chris Cross's rear (yes, that's the guy's name on the radio). The day BG was fired, they ran an all-day Sports Huddle from the UK campus that was really fun.

I wonder if Tennessee would play us now that Cuonzo Martin is there? That would be a nice little non-conference game...
Depends on if he had any input in them dropping SLU this year coming up....
-
In football as much as 10 years out in some cases. In basketball - a couple of years is common anything more than that is usually out of the norm.
Thanks for the clarification. I know Mizzou Football was talking about games for 5 and 6 years away, and I was hoping that we didn't have that problem for basketball. Who knows what anyone has that far down the line?
-
How far in advance does scheduling run? I was wondering how far out we'd have to go to schedule teams.
-
There is no reason that SLU's flagship station couldn't do at least an hour show every week during BB season. If RM doesn't want to be involved so be it but you've got asst. coaches, Earl and Rammer. It is poor that the only time devoted to the Bills is during the games. This program is extremely poor when it comes to PR. Maybe one of the communication majors could get involved.
Yeah, that's kind of the stuff I was going for. Visibility of a program is huge, and SLU needs to do a better job using the media outlets they have.

-rick is sure making the rounds
-this emac guy comes across as very cocky
I don't think Makovsky do anything where I didn't want to slap him. Very arrogant.

I don't want to take shots at anyone on this board, since we've got some good fans here. That said, I lived in Lexington for a year or so, and I absolutely loved the atmosphere down there for basketball and hope we can get that here. They lived and died with every game, and ran a coach out on a rail for making the NIT. I know a lot of people think UK fans are nuts (and they are), but I think that's the kind of atmosphere that would be good here. Every time UK played, the radio shows (one in particular) would light up for hours on end about everything UK. SLU has the market, it's time to put it to use.
As many know, I have been a fan of some questionable programs, and I really shouldn't advocate some of the things I've talked about in the past. But I would love to see SLU have the same presence in their city that Kentucky had in theirs. It was an awesome place for basketball, and I'm hoping one day we can say the same about our Billikens.

Another example of where the program is at. Lose a recruit to a BCS school going on probation with a new coach. If it was Duke or Carolina or Kentucky, I may be able to rationalize it a little more...but this is Tennessee. This team has to start winning, or it will get worse.
With the elite talent leaving town and losing out to bad BCS teams for recruits, it really gets frustrating looking at the open spots on the roster.
