  1. "come at me bro"

Why feel bad for him,as someone said he has sophomore eligibility on a top 25 team,

Jake was in one of my classes I personally think he's a great kid. Maybe next year he can be our "brad redford" from Xavier, just not this year.

No one cares who you have class with and what the teachers names are. Why are you calling him a kid if he is your age? I think you are just trying to get your number of posts increased cause that is the only thing that gets you erect more than sitting by basketball players at school

  2. I thought of the Brannen comparison also, just hadn't got to post it. It is the intensity and toughness that Conklin shown that made me think of him. Brannen was a thug, but Huggins developed him, by the time he was a senior he very good. Huggins also developed Melvin the Helicopter, I can`t remember his last name.

Always liked Conklin passion and intsensity, but man he was like give me the ball, I'll take it in, over, through, whatever, and I'll score.

    This sure is fun.

Melvin Levett. He could fly but also hit the three. Most vivid memory of him was when he hit a fade away in the last coujple of minutes and then turned to the 'intense' guy and his son in 115 who were screaming at him the entire gave them the dagger in the heart gesture and them shushed them with one finger. They were speechless for the only time in the building. Still laugh when thinking about it. I think he might have got a sniff in the NBA but could be wrong

  3. Bowling Green just beat Temple.

Glad they're off our schedule this year.

Screw that, I hope we play more good teams. I would rather play them then Arkansas State. Good teams arent afraid who they play. This is the same thine as a team like Kentucky saying they wont play SLU and then you calling them a bunch of ******* for not playing us. Why do you wont us to be a bunch of *******?

  4. 11:00 am start on a Sunday? Church? NFL? Hangovers from Saturday night?

AND it was on goddam high definition TV, slo-mo replays, explanations, comments, interviews, updates. Why go down there? Parking is sh*tty, etc?

I know REAL fans go there, I get it, Bania. I'm just saying.

Church? Go earlier. NFL? You would only miss the first half of the noon games. if this was an excuse these people would rather watch NCAA football on saturday night then go to a SLU game anyway. Hungover? Quit being a *****. HD TV? That is not better then being at the game. There are few people that would have legitimate excuses if they wanted to actually go to the game.

BR..The student section is ok, smaller then I expected so dont like you guys are great. The rest of the crowd was good and more into the game than usual. Why would people other then the student section scream when free throws are being attempted? We going to mess them up from the otheer side of the floor? More power to you and your buddies can stomping on the bleachers and screaming at the UDub players like you are going to do something to them but it is silly to think that the rest of the arena is going to do the same thing.

The band was outstanding as usual

  5. I could definitely be wrong, but my understanding is that Fontu, the young man from New Zealand, would be signing in the spring for next year's class. Yes, we only have 2 openings, and have already inked 2 in the early signing period. Draw your own conclusions about who would be leaving to create the additional scholarship opportunity.

Who would leave? I would say that Eli Manning guy from VA.

Ike was at fieldhouse after the game with Loe and Harriman without a rat tail. He did say he enjoyed the game and they got a round of applause when they walked in which was pretty cool.

Also the waitress Katie from Fieldhouse is blesed with great features. A brickhouse

  6. 0 turnovers hell yeah, listenin to the broadcast in the village apartments getting buckwild, can't wait to take a big ol' dump on the huskies sunday,, Sundays a day game if I'm correct, guess we'll be having beer for breakfast... go bills ,, woot woot crushed dat 3 point spread yayayaay

3 point spread? Where are you betting through? It opened at 5 and went up to 8

  7. There will be a bus that will leave from Chaifetz at 3:00 that Tuesday and return immediately after the game. Cost is $35.00 and you get the ride, ticket, drinks and snacks on the bus, and a reception prior to the game.

    Alcohol included?

  8. He sounds like more of a 4 than a 5. At this point from afar, it looks like a loss to me.

But if he was headed out of town, then what more can SLU do? As always, it takes two to tango.

I agree with Billikan that our team is going to be good this season, and have high hopes.

Any player in the top 100 that we recruit and dont get is clearly a loss to the program, we dont bring in many top prospects. Now that you realized this was a loss in your eyes, can you admit that SLU is not a 'major' program, not nearly the program Butler is and only when we start winning games and a lot of them we are going to be able to get big time players whether they are from St. Louis or anywhere else in the country.

I love SLU basketball as much as the next guy but some of this ###### on here today is ###### absurb

  9. Do you think Butler is going to change to a major conference on the basis of one coach in one sport?

First, what major conference would take them on that basis?

It would be a big mistake. When Stephens leaves Butler will go back to being Butler.

The first question is a very dumb question. They would obviously leave for a major conference to get more exposure, money and to make things easier to keep a top notch pregram IF Stevens ever does leave.

If the conferences blow up and there is considerable realignment they will definitely be discussed and recruited to join a bigger conference. What makes other basketball only schools in major conferences better candidates than Butler? Compare them to Marquette and who would you rather have in your conference? I take the school that has been in the last 2 final fours. You dont look at the past but instead at the future and there are not many teams that are as promsing as Butler so any conference that is looking to add basketball only schools then Butler is at or near the top of the list.

What makes you certain that he is going to leave anyway? He left a high paying corporate job at Eli Lilly to be a volunteer assistant, he already has a big contract and his wife is a big time lawyer that also rakes it in so I dont think it is about the money. He is from the area and has said that he is very comfortable there and with the school. While the media has always been quick to bring his name up he has never been actually been interested in any job openings. And lastly as another poster on here brought up, Duke was not always Duke. Coach K made them Duke so why can't it happen with Butler?

  10. We are doing okay in the financial services industry, but we have lost several headquarters from financial services companies and that is regrettable. We have also lost most of the analyst jobs in St. Louis (BACAP, most of the AG Edwards analysts, the Mercantile Trust analysts, etc.). Hammond was acquired by Mercer, AG Edw. was acquired by Wells, Boatmens was acquired by NationsBank, and on and on. There are fewer high level jobs in the industry as a result. So, compared to 15 years ago, there are fewer high level finance jobs, but probably more lower paying jobs. The one thing that is true about St. Louis is that we have WAY MORE brokers, RIAs, financial planners per capita than most cities - and, ironically, that drives compensation in the industry down for obvious reasons.

St. Louis has the second most licensed financial professionals in the US, only behind NYC. That comes from having 4 finacial firms headquarters here, not a surplus of brokers. We are obviously doing more then okay

  11. You need to stop talking about things you aren't familiar with....The jerseys in the spirit shop are very close to the ones used a couple years ago. See: the team pictures. One of the walk-ons is wearing the old ones. From what I have been told they will have replica shorts and jerseys updated this year.

They have not had replice shorts in the team store ever from anything I can remember. The reversable nike practice jerseys with the net design on the back are cool but I dont care about jerseys. There have been a couple of pairs of white shorts over the past years that were cool enough to buy but the team store never had team. Would assume the bookstore would not have them either but have not actually checked because there is no close place to park over there and the hours suck

  12. IMpressive that we held Enrico DiLoreto to 4-13 shooting. He was fabolous in The Naked Gun.

Lets hope they all keep their naked guns holstered this trip and no one gets into trouble in Canda. I am guessing that Grandy could take the boys out to places similar to The Oz

  13. The Knicks paid a price to move up and waste a pick on a guy who isn't NBA material. As an organization, the Knicks are a joke.

I disagree I think this is a good second pick for a team that is starved of bigs. Everyone wants that sexy pick of a well known college player cause they know who he is but you are not going to find a star in the second round, you are looking for role players. If he can rebound and defend and then knock a mid range jumper and pass a little but he can have a long career coming off the bench and being a nice role player. You know he is going to work hard and do some things well so I see him having a decent amount of years in the league.

At the same time being compared to Kevin Love is just silly but after he was drafted 'jorts' was trending on twitter
