  1. When news first broke that we got RM it was JACKPOT!!!! I am a huge college bball fan, I know that magnitude of having this coach. But if you walked the streets of any city including st louis with a picture of RM and Albert Pujols, I bet more people would recognize pujols. Casual sports fans dont know who he is. Casual fans know Albert. Do you really want to say RM is more renown than one of the best baseball players of all time

  2. Believe me, I would much rather the headlines be about winning and recruits than this. It might say something that some offhand comment could make huge news, wait till we are pre-season top 25 and everyone is talking about Billiken basketball for the right reasons. To some this is a negative reflection of our coach and program, but I'm happy for now we are being reflected on. Hopefully we will look back and laugh, I'm willing to laugh about it now.

  3. Bigger national celeb in STL - Albert Pujols, he tells a fox reporter to leave a room and its headline news. not the point though

The reality is nobody cares about mediocre billiken basketball right now outside of St. Louis. RM is a big time personality so a clash with an archbishop would attract some national attention. I'll take it because the only time we are getting national attention now is when we score 20 points. This is not a big deal, if anything its good because our coach is in the spotlight once again.

  4. People have now heard of this program. When Michael Jordan wore those shoes and got fined $5,000 per game back in the day that was the cheapest best ad nike has ever done. I see this being the same for SLU. You can't pay for this type of publicity. Its not negative publicity, that man has opinions so does everyone. For any recruit who didn't have RM's name on the radar its there now. We are headline news with a mediocre team.

  5. ESPN Insider's evaluations of our recruits for those without insider...

Evaluation: Thompson has great skill level, and a tremendous upside. Lots of potential, great hands, he can score around the basket and is strong on the boards. St. Louis grabbed him before everyone knew about him. Good IQ for the game. Good around the basket, good skill for a young kid. He has a slow reaction to the basket and quick athletes bother him around the hoop. If he works at the game he will get better and better. Cannot get it off the glass right now in high level competition. Great passer out of double team , finds teammates, know hows to play and there's a real purpose to his play.

Evaluation: Conklin is a solid prospect for the "four" position at the next level. He has a nice frame with broad shoulders and long arms. He is a decent athlete who can fill the lane (runs hard) on the fast break, but he is far from bouncy. He uses his length, savvy, and good hands to be an effective rebounder and he has an outstanding outlet pass. Offensively, he is a bit mechanical in the paint area and needs to polish up his post skills - tends to struggle scoring against athletic players his size. He can, however, step out and hit the 15 foot jump shot with regularity. Overall, Conklin is a good prospect for the mid-major level and with continued skill development in the paint area he should have a solid career.

Evaluation: Mitchell was one the most prolific scorers of the summer AAU circuit. He is a combo guard, but he is much more of a scoring guard. He is not a true point guard at all. Mitchell has a good body, good speed and is very athletic. Kwamain thinks scoring! He can penetrate, create his own shot and really fill it up. He can get to the rim or shoot the ball from the perimeter. He will need to concentrate a lot more on defense and stopping his own man at the next level.

    nothing on femi or willie.
