Frank has a lot of connections in college basketball -- I was waiting to interview Bruce Weber at the Adolph Rupp presentation at the Renaissance hotel during the 2005 Final Four, and distinctly remember Frank and Bruce chumming it up and then Gene Keady comes up and asks Frank about his wife and kids, etc., like they were old pals from high school. It was neat to see that interaction, especially with Grumpy Gene. But Frank is well-connected in the coaching ranks. I take his word pretty seriously.

One of Ross Varner's cousins, Scoop Varner is a 7'5, 200 lb. kid who looks like Sean Bradley but has the court vision of a Gheorghe Muresan. I hear the kid just dominates in the Sub-Sahara mission league.

The Golden Age of Saint Louis University Basketball, yes, but does Chaifetz/donors realize that it takes a prior relationship for a coach to pick his assistants? Does Majerus have a previous relationship with Bonner?
It would be unreal to have AB and Ricky Baby on the same sideline and recruiting top-flight kids to SLU.

Yeah, because he sat next to Tommy Callahan in a history class and penciled in Herbie Hancock instead of John Hancock. Nonetheless, they both winded up with a D+ and cushy window offices at Callahan auto.

Boy, am I glad Fr. Claude Pavur, S.J. doesn't post on here. He wouldn't be too happy with me.
I was at an interview last week, and the woman interviewing me asked if I took any languages in college, to which I said "Latin."
She rebutted, "Well, if we ever open up an office in ancient Rome, you'll be the first person we call."
Probably the funniest thing ever said at an interview.
