  1. I'm not taking a shot at anyone or anything, but by the end of the season, we were just too tired. I know it's been a long season, but teams like VCU and NCAA Tournament teams still look like they have a lot left in the tank.

Is it just that we've had a lot of injuries lately? Or that we have a lot of freshmen who maybe weren't ready for the long season? We know Ellis missed the off season workouts and conditioning, but everyone seemed exhausted to me these last couple of games......

    Any thoughts?

8 players at the end of the year will do that to you

Plus, when one of our players isn't conditioned at all right now (cody) that makes problems worse.

  2. This is the proudest I have ever been as a fan at the end of the season. You can literally name any player and I can list 5 moments where I was extremely proud of them.

These guys are the most talented bunch I have ever seen. Yes, we ran out of gas towards the end, but the boys still battled.

With or without RL, I know we will make the tourney next year because of the character of these kid's. They never give in and that will only lead to success.

Good season fans, let's pack the 'fetz next year.

    Agreed.

I love this team. I wish we had 14 schollies so we could add Rob without anyone leaving.

  3. For all their effort, Cassity and Salecich were the weak links on this team. We need better talent at the 2 and 3 spots.

    Give me a break.

They had terrible games, but to call them "weak links" is not accurate.

Hopefully McCall and Evans are awesome, but I don't see Kyle getting played over any time soon.

He needs that fire back that he had during the conference season and he will be alright.

  4. No, I mean he's like really excited. He's bouncing around so much I've had to switch knees a couple times. He's making terrible decisions out on The Trail®.

Come on Jimbo, lets be honest on why you have had to switch knees...
  5. I heard Loe will ride into 'fetz tonight on top of a van, rip off his street clothes and just miss out on a quadruple double by going for 24 pts, 18 rebounds, 16 assists and 9 kissed babies.

    No Blocks?

I knew this kid was overrated

  6. I would guess that Frank talked to Majerus and the coach said something similar to what he told Bernie on the radio yesterday, that he expects to hear some good news soon.

It's possible Loe could commit any day now. But the problem with saying that is it was possible any day in the last month or two as well and it hasn't happened yet.

There is some momentum building for a Loe commitment, but you never know when it will happen or if it will happen for sure.

Would you classify it as momentum?

To me it seems solely based off of a Majerus (who knows he meant?) comment and wishful thinking. Other than that, there doesn't appear to be any positive sign towards Loe signing.

Hope I'm wrong, but I have a feeling some people are counting their chickens before they hatch.

  7. Never have. Always said he was a very good coach. The one major flaw he has is his social ineptitude. Everyone can agree with that. I'm also pretty sure it's ok to not like a man for being a dick head. Good coach smart man but an ass. Everyone knows that and that's ok for some people. You over sensitive saint louisans hahaha. Oh no someone doesn't like our coach boohoo

You Thompsons are so sensitive. Some coach didn't like your brother boohoo.

    Funny how things work.

    Let the subject die

  8. I don't see how it keeps getting framed as an argument that men are being 'penalized'. The reality is that women were brought up to equal footing with men in the number of scholarships, and rather than accept that for what it is (equal) a lot of people like to cry that they're being penalized because they don't have the same unfair advantage and/or lack of regulation as in the past.

Of course, the past in this case is pre-1972, which makes the anti-Title IX crowd look all the more foolish.

Couldn't you also argue that women are 'penalized' because they don't get to play football or have an equivalent to it? Eh, eh? No, I wouldn't either, but that points out how lame it is to argue that anyone is being penalized. Football is an absolute monster, with all of those scholarships and resources drained from an athletic program. With so few programs actually making any money from it, I'm not sure why so many schools want to have it in the first place. Even if Title IX didn't exist, athletic department budgets would be drained to sustain a football program, and probably at the expense of a lot of other non-revenue sports.

And this is completely, totally unrelated to my argument, just my opinion: college football is the single most overrated sport that gets big-time media coverage (I don't count NASCAR as a sport). 3+ hours, so little parity, no alcohol served at most stadiums- its most useful purpose in my opinion is to help me nap on Saturday afternoons in the fall. It's almost always very, very boring.

I can't believe I just read that coming from a "sports" fan....

  9. While I understand the rules that you are talking about, we are talking about an extraordinary kid and situation. I do not believe that the NCAA would "be all over it" if Paul ended up on an academic scholarship and was able to participate in all regular drills.

Also, Paul could have graduated and started med school. Something must be keeping him around.

Have you talked to Paul about this situation?

  10. I'm not sure how much Eckerle will play next season, but he's definitely needed. He was very much missed this season.

Eckerle has been a very strong leader for this team. He's done a lot of things behind the scenes to help this program, like talking with recruits when they visit campus, helping the younger guys on the team with whatever, etc. He's been Willie Reed's roommate all year, which I'm sure has had to help Willie.

If SLU has 14 guys competing for minutes next year, with Eckerle as the 14th man, who knows how much he'll see the floor. But he has been an important member of this team for three years already and will continue to be for as long as he sticks around.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

What Paul contributes to this team doesn't show up in the stat sheet.

If Paul wasn't going to Med school I wouldn't be surprised to see him as Majerus' assistant coach at some point.
