I just heard on the news that Pitino is taking a medical leave of absence. No reasons or particulars were given. Has anyone heard anything more?

This subject seems to have been exhausted but there is one more point about recruiting philosophy and who SLU pursues. Soderberg has stated from the begining it is his intention to recruit locally and expand from this area. Some times you have to take a chance, however, make sure the benefit is worth the risk.

Disagree about conceding to Duke, Fl., et.al. You have to protect your territory. You may lose on the recruit but you cannot concede the recruit to another school because of their national reputation and presence.

I was surprised that NYBill had not received a response from someone at SLU about his offer to help with arena fund raising, especially in the N.Y. city metropolitan area. It makes me wonder to whom his message was sent and whether it was actually received by someone at SLU, knowing the priority this project has. As a side note, the contacts listed on the web site for university and in their brochure are different. One is [email protected] and the other is [email protected]. I have had interaction with the development office on fund raising efforts and it has alway been very positive. They seem to be on top of things and I believe they would jump at an offer from someone to help with fund raising, especially in the major metropolitan area of the country.
