  1. regarding Local Kids they do not always jump up and down to go to SLU. Some of that is the Grass is Greener, and in some instances more odiferous.

Brad seems to think that the arena will not help much in recruiting, because players coming form the east like Drejaj get sold on the Saavis Center. However he thinks it will help tremendously with local recruits, who come and get to know west pine all too well. Now they will have a state of the art practice facility as well.

As for the foreign players, these players are more skilled than the US players, because AAU ball has not penetrated there yet. Give the Greek kid a chance. By the way does anyone know when his Greek team plays in the 20 and under tournament??

  2. DePaul

    SLU

    Creighton

    Butler

    Detroit

    Charlotte

This is where I run dry I do not like Valpo, Ill Chicago or Loyola Chicago in this Group. I think it would be best to have One team in each city or Metropolitan area unless there is a compelling reason otherwise.

but take the above list and add Marquette, Xavier and Dayton and we have a conference....Charlotte would be the odd ball and like would opt out after they decide to take up football........

All specualtion as the ACC expansion may not happen, and Cusa may only lose Louisville.

  3. If all of your conditions occur, then I as AD would say we need a conference which will focus on basketball and soccer. The Ideal # of teams would be 8 or 9. I will go with 8 to start.

With this number there would be 14 conference games, and all would make the conference tourney. Expansion to nine would be the goal.

I would assume that if the above teams bolt, we will have similar agreements set up as we did with Dayton when they did not get to join the CUSA. Specifically a certain number of home and home games against Marquette, Cinci, Louisville and perhaps memphis. Thus our RPI will not be hurt initially.

Now for the schools I will have to get back on that, I need to research, and also get back to real world work!!

  4. but at some point this "cartel" would be challenged in court and I think lose....Essentially they seen to be trying to develop a monopoly and federal laws may come into play here. Title nine also will have an effect, as they surely do not have an interest in developing a women BCS basketball playoff.....I am not so sure it is an open field for them and only the kicker left to tackle them.

As for college football, I have lost my interest in it years ago, I love pro ball but college just does not do much for me. Funny it is the opposite in basketball...I generally only watch the finals in proball.

  5. He looks like he is about 6'8 235 or so now. Easily leaped up to throw down an alley oop slam. Is working at all the camps this summer, so perhaps Brad will get his head screwed on straight....

Remember these guy are growing up, that has to be the scary thing about recruiting, a coaches career is dependent upon the decisions made by a bunch of 16 and 17 year olds.

  6. I hear Grimes has Narrowd his list to three Mizzou Illinois and KU. I also heard he is leaning toward KU or Illinois.

Drove by the site of the new arena, and it is directly across the street from a slu parking garage, on lindell at compton. a Nice Location.

There apparently will be a meeting updating all involved with the arena, and "at that point they should be short a Large donor" I wonder if that means the namng rights will then be up to bids?? At any rate with the powers that be still want to put the first spade in the ground this coming January.

Soderberg's Father?/Son camo was wonderful!! All the coaches were there either as coaches or as participants with their sons, IO, Josh, Justin Johnson, Reggie Bryant, were all there. Next year I would reccommend it along with a healthy does of Motrin....

  7. As for Mo he was a good shooter but did not look for his shot untilhe was a senior, he however needed open looks from three.

I would agree with the "eventual difference maker" label. However, I would hardly have expected drejaj to have the freshman year he had after he was recruited, but he went on to make a difference in a few games by the end of the season. I hope Clarke is able to do that by the end of his freshman year.....I expect more from clarke going in than I did of Drejaj going in.

  8. I like Mo Jeffers and all but, I got the impression from Brad that he would be a better shooter, and in his pictures he looks bigger as a freshman, although a little shorter. I also recall Brad saying he is a difference maker.......do I recall correctly.?
