  1. Final four....I couldn't pick them to lose. Memphis was an easy pick and I feel like the upset is brewing. I was planning on putting a loss in the sweet 16, but I paired us against New Mexico....no way we lose twice to this team. And that leaves us against Missouri....no way I can pick us as a loss to Missouri. Then I look up and realize we're in the final four.....fuok me.

  2. My guess is the whole thing is based on $$. They need to wait to see who progresses...then they figure out how to make the most money. Since we WILL be playing Michigan State, we will probably get a prime time slot on the station who has the most viewers.

  3. I would rather be playing and beating Temple on CBS Sunday.

    +1

My ideal situation was playing and beating Temple on Sunday. Thought being that this would be a big time win, thereby putting us in the 6-7 seed range and out of the 8-9 situation. I wonder if we can get there by beating a sub par team in the championship.

  4. Mb, go reread the thread, post 8, tarheel lays out a hypothetical scenario where down the road after graduating conklin would assist with recruiting a player.

In post 11 showthebill correctly states that is a recruiting violation. Only the coaching staff can talk to recruits like that. Conklin in that hypothetical situation as an alumnus be considered a booster and is prohibited from assisting in recruiting.

Busted stated he didn't care he just wants to win. Majic apparently feels the same way.

I want to win, but not by cheating. Why should I stop that path of discussion? I am amazed more aren't with me and want to always win by following the rules. This amazes me. Now that we are having a wonderful season now ethics go out the window? What is going on?

This was a freaking awesome article and shows a lot of positive things about Majerus...not to mention his enthusiasm about the program. Instead, you chose to comment on a 100% hypothetical violation that will most likely never happen....I think that is what MB is referring to.
  5. Imagine if Xavier was 12-4 conf 24-6 overall. They'd be #12 in the country

Perception is reality. Schools like Belmont and VCU get a lot of pub because of recent success...Xavier is in the same boat. However, none are really that good. Meanwhile, nobody has a clue that the Billikens had a good season and are primed for a good post season. Hopefully that will change. All it takes is one good year to get the ball rolling.
  6. Not that I want to defend Mizzou and/or the Big 12, why is everybody acting like Mizzou will get pounded in the SEC? It's not any better than the Big 12 in basketball, which I assume is what we're talking about.

Thing is, going forward, we're not a 75-125 program. So if you're going to resume this series, now is the time since we're set up for longer term success.

Hell, with all that we have coming back and that they lose, we might not want Mizzou's RPI weighing us down next year.

I was actually referring to football in my post. I don't think they will even be competitive...but maybe that's what I get for living in the heart of SEC country for most of my life.

I think they will be middle of the pack in basketball. Some good years and some bad years, but over all middle of the pack. Maybe it's perception, but I don't know if Missouri has the $$$ to excel in the SEC.

  7. Been having this convo on twitter, and I'll quote my SLU fan buddy here: "If I were Mizzou I would be doing what they are. Why play a 75-125 RPI team in their Superbowl when you can play a 75-125 team in an easier win?" It might be a fun game to watch, but do you really blame Alden for not making the game happen?

As a Mizzou fan, what bothers me about it is the media. Sportswriters only crow about it when SLU is good. There is never an article in the Post-Dispatch calling Mizzou out for ducking SLU when SLU isn't any good; it's only that one out of every five years that SLU is good and all of the sudden it's a crime that Mizzou won't play them. Give me a break.

LOL...mizzou fans are so clueless. You guys are not some sort of high major program. You're having a great year and congrats on that. We're doing pretty good ourselves. The fact of the matter is you guys are scared...plain and simple. Your gonna get DOMINATED in the SEC...I'm just happy that Vandy will have a whipping boy for the forseeable future.

Get your head out of your ass and play SLU. If you dominate then we'll call it quits...but the fact is that you won't and you never have.

  8. He can take a hike as far as I'm concerned. Him and Kuric wanted nothing to do with us. Now one is being asked to leave and the other is a walk on. He has one year left....I don't see how he can come into a Majerus team and provide meaningful minutes on an upperclassmen dominated team. We've seen the inability for most to quickly flourish in his system and I don't see Swopshire being the exception.

  9. Per the SLU AD office, they are not streaming this game tonight. So, if it is going to be picked up via a pirated feed, it will be somebody who has hijacked the national CBSCS TV broadcast. It is not offered through any other channels. Good thing Comcast in Nashville finally picked this station up.

  10. I have heard from SLU AD officials that they actually like the pirated streams... They don't have to pay for the coverage and it helps promote their product.

Obviously they don't know what they are talking about. The pirated stream is nothing more than the video that SLU produces and sends up to CBS College Sports. The issue is that CBS is not securing the stream or using outdated code..and they don't seem to care. They continue to shut sites down who steal the feed, but have done nothing to fix the root cause...which is the lack of security.

What SLU really needs to do is offer the stream for free. That will funnel hundreds of internet users (SLU fans and away fans) to a SLU site that is legit and free. Then, they can advertise the hell out of whatever they want to bring in the revenue. This is internet marketing 101.

  11. They all scare me. We have a good team, but we are rightfully not in the top 15. I think we can hang with most anybody, but this team has not sold me on consistency. I think we can go out and look like a sure thing (vs Washington) or look like we're lucky to be here (LaSalle). I'm absolutely thrilled we went 2-0 in Philly and am enjoying this ride as much as the next guy, but I am not ready to say we shouldn't have some concerns about the teams you list or that we are better than they are.

  12. It seems to me the Cory matches up well insome situations but not others. He could be invaluable if we run in to some long lean forwards in the dance..........

That Cory Remuken vs. Anthony Davis matchup in the championship game is going to be a good one... :)

Seriously though, my hats off to Cory. He brings a dynamic to the game that we do not have. He has played very well the last few games and I think he can continue. One of the things I noticed that hasn't been discussed is his strength. I noticed a few times that when the loose ball came Cory's way, he hung on to it. I've just come to expect it getting knocked out of Cody's or Rob's hands during a rebound battle. Cory is strong enough to win the battle.

  13. I can't decide which I like more...

The look on Cory's face while swatting the sh!t outta this guy...

Or the complete look of fear on Jerry Jones' face when he realizes he is at the mercy of Bonecrusher...

And since I'm sure some may be disappointed based on the title of this thread, a little eye candy from our favorite state school...

  14. What a dick. If this guy worked for me, we'd be having a little chat. Paper media is a dying breed and alienating a customer base with jerk off remarks aren't going to sell subscriptions. I'm totally in favor of free speech and saying what you want in any forum, but there are repercussions. He isn't a writer or a "personality", he is the sports editor....a position, at one point in time, that was highly sought after. To me, this just shows how far the PD and a lot of media has fallen (no offense to Mr. Bonwich, of course).
