  1. It appears that RM's comments about CE not being "good this year," took place while CE was present. Unbelievable! Way to set the bar high, Rick. I hope this "refreshing candor" that adds to RM's "charm" (Need to interject that this might be the first time in recorded history that RM and "charm" have ever been equated-good job Nark), is viewed by all as inappropriate with the player present. At least the repeated "fleshy" comment was made after CE's departure.

I totally disagree with this statement. I think this is good for Majerus to say with him in the room as to not put undue pressure on a kid that undoubtedly has an idea of the fan expectations. If he said, Cody is not good...that is different. But he said Cody has tremendous skill but won't be good this year. Not sure what's wrong with that. If Cody can't deal with that statement, how the hell is he going to endure the rigors of D1 basketball/ I think all this stuff just adds to Ricks plan to toughen the kids up. Obviously, we aren't tough mentally at this point if our best shooters are chucking up airballs on a consistent basis.
  2. The way things have gone recently I wouldn't be surprised if Ellis starts to contribute in the first half of Saturday's game.

I still don't think we'll see the real Ellis until next season, but if he can make some shots or grab some rebounds he'll help right away.

I feel like if SOMEBODY (Ellis or otherwise) can start hitting shots, we'll get on a roll. I think we have the talent to be a middle to top tier A10 team this year, but it ain't gonna happen if we can't put the ball in the hole. If Ellis can come in with confidence, i'm hoping it will be contagious and we can make an NIT push this year.
  3. I don't recall a second concussion for Mitchell. Last year he sat out one game because of a concussion, but the game he sat out this year was because of minor eye surgery.

I thought he got knocked on the head again right at the beginning of the year, but maybe i'm wrong. And i'm not trying to minimize any potential injury to Jeff. If he is indeed as sick as reports indicate, I wish him the best and hope for a speedy recovery.
  4. On Tom's blog in the comments section there is some talk on Jeff Reid.

Reid went home to Kansas. He hasn't taken his previous semester's finals. He has to take those before he is eligible to play again. He won't be penalized though because of his head injury. He didn't give a timetable on his return. If he is not back by now, since the semester starts soon who knows when he will be back.

On John's injury it depends how serious it is. If the meniscus is repairable he can be rehabbing it almost immediately after the surgery. But recovery time would be weeks. If the meniscus needs to be removed recovery time becomes months. If he were to have it done at the end of the season he could be ready for the start of next year, but he would be cutting it close. If they are letting him play on it it isn't too terribly serious. He would have to be off the court for at most 3 or 4 months.

Just a hunch, but I doubt we see Jeff back. I think he is the typical homesick freshman and didn't quite know what he was getting himself into. Concussions are all different, but Kwamain has had 2 now and only sat out one game each.
  5. Home games are cheaper for the local channels - including FSM - to televise - common sense. Also, any game that is televised is being picked up in homes who live out of the metropolitan area and gives exposure to the casual fan who may very well decide to come to a game based on what they see - also common sense.

Yeah, but it is also common sense to televise the games that your fan base is unable to attend. Understand what you're saying, but the original poster certainly has a point. If people are seeing the advertisements in Chaifetz for FMW games, those same people will most likely be in the arena for said game.
  6. Does anyone have video right now, the slubillikens feed says it is not available...

Nope. It WAS working. Then it just shut down. It looked like they were trying to get a highlight video together for the womens game then they shut things down. hopefully they are just changing staff or something. If not, CSTV customer service number is 888-870-2788
  7. I see that not one person mentioned Chris Braun on your all decade team. We must remember the bigs of the Braun/Baniak era played against much tougher, bigger, and more skilled competition than the current guys (REED).

    I go with:

    Perry

    Love

    Jeffers

    Braun

    Heinrich

Bench: Fisher, Liddell, Lisch, Reed, Sloan, Bryant, Voyouskas

I actually thought long and hard about adding Chris Braun but ultimately decided to go with Baniak. I always felt that Braun WAY underperformed. What was he, 6-11 with shooting and dribbling skills? I seem to remember him being too weak to play the 5...both in strength and aggressiveness. Coulda been a hell of a player tho.
  8. Well, I guess RM better tell KM to break the leg of the star player for Dayton this year in the A-10 tourney... that's what I call good coaching. ;) Happy Holidays, Broy... love ya, mean it.

Can't fault Roy for this one. People constantly stated the Romar took us to a tourney in 3 seasons while Soderberg could not in 5. Granted, this was one of many points in the debate, but this was constantly brought up. He's being consistent....as usual.
  9. Lisch's still playing basketball, but in different parts of the world

Good in depth article on Kevin and Theresa's globetrotting.

    Wait..no, this can't be right... B)

For a single school year, the Lisch family enjoyed just such a distinction, with freshman Daniel Lisch being offered what was widely-known to be a single-season scholarship at Saint Louis University. As a member of the Billikens in 2008-2009, he joined his older brother, starting shooting guard Kevin, on Rick Majerus' squad, serving his redshirt season as a fierce practice player.

  10. Booster, ask him about a radio stream for us out-of-town fans so we can the games and Ricks show. Thanks, Tarheel

Yes! Ask him about the radio feed and also mention that the video stream is extremely unreliable. To give them credit, it has worked well since I complained to May. Selfish, I know...but I really think we could pick up more fans as the alumni figure out this service is available and reliable. That could lead to increased donations.
  11. We all know the A-10 has started to make some serious national noise and currently has the 5th best RPI, slightly ahead of the Big 10. Saturday will go a long way to solidifying that position with a brutal 10 game slate. Here are the games and the probability of A-10 winning per the real-time RPI site:

    St. Bon @ #5 Syracuse: 7%

    #9 Villanova @ Fordham: 28%

    Richmond @ #13 Florida: 31%

    Xavier @ #17 Butler: 24%

    Bucknell @ La Salle: 72%

    7-1 Memphis @ U Mass: 18%

    Duq @ 8-3 IUPUI: 39%

    Temple @ 8-0 Seton Hall: 36%

    Mizzou St. @ SLU: 50%

2-9 Presbyterian@ Dayton: 75% (how can this not be higher)

Honestly, I could us only getting 3 wins. I'd be content with 4 and happy with 5. 6 or above would be a miracle.

p.s. I don't agree with a lot of those percentages, I just report them.

    http://www.realtimerpi.com/

Some of those percentages are way too high. I'd saying UMASS has a better shot at beating Memphis that Fordham has at beating NOVA. I think 50% this weekend would be solid.
  12. I'm very impressed with Remekun. He's young, weak and raw....but he's much better than expected at this point. you can see a significant difference in his play from the beginning of the season....i'm sure playing against Willie everyday is a big part of that. He plays hard and for being so young, his defense is pretty decent. It also appears from my crappy video feed that he has a decent shot from mid-range. Hasn't hit it yet, but it doesn't look ugly. I also like that he's trying to do some post moves. Again, they haven't fallen, but the back to the basket mindset is there and he doesn't look clumsy when he attempts something (like Conklin). Who would have thought the problem with this team would be our guards. why can't we shoot?!?!?!
