  1. I say take Liddell either way as he sounds (i get all my info from this board) like a good kid with great skills...he just needs to concentrate in the classroom.

To answer your question, my understanding was that Kern decided not to come to SLU once Romar announced his departure. There may have been other acedemic issues involved, but I believe the official reason was Romar leaving.

  2. This is a bunch of crap I'm hearing about these guys not liking the travel. What do they expect?? They chose this profession, and if they didn't think traveling was part of it, then they were very much misguided. Is another hundred or two miles really going to matter that much in travel arrangements...no. So you have to be on a plane for an extra 15-30 minutes...big deal. You will get to go to much more interesting cities, with much better programs. If they can't take the traveling, get the heck out of announcing and employ somebody who actually wants the job. I'd take it in a heartbeat!

  3. I agree Roy. I think I said this awhile ago, but I think if Josh wants to, he can be the man on this team. Over the past few years we have seen him have some great games, combined with he strength (the guy is jacked), speed and decent hops, I can see him having a break out year. But judging on the preliminary reports from practice, i don't have my hopes too high on "the flying fish" (i remember a commentator for ESPN2 calling him that a few years ago).

  4. I think we have to start Drejaj with Reggie being out the first few games. With reggie in the lineup, I would start

    Fish

    Bryant

    Izik

    Sloan

    Frericks

However, with Bryant being out the first few games, I would throw Drejaj in and put Josh at the 2. Roy, I'm just not sure who we would start instead of Izik. I don't forsee JJ being able to start immediatly this season and regardless of Iziks defensive capabilities, from what i've seen and read, he is always a step above Varner.

  5. I do not recall there being any sort of joint program. Some classes (credits) would transfer between the two schools. I never knew any students that went to Wash U for classes, but i do recall having some WU students in my Fluid dynamics class over a summer. The two schools do have a good relationship though being as both schools have equipment that the other can benefit from.

  6. Taj, Parks moved to the main Grand campus about 6 years ago. These days, Parks students are considered as much a part of the school as the business and medical students. Actaully, there is very little (if any) "segregation" between parks and non-parks kids. SLU has actaully been scheduling non-Parks classes in McDonnell Douglas Hall (the engineering building - immediatly next to the compton-olive garage) in order to try and mesh the two together. The ONLY reason he would ever have to go to cahokia is if he decided to get his pilot's license. Parks kids live in the same campus dorms as every other student.

  7. That was a fun read. One paragraph in particular sure sounds familiar....

"Decide that if a kid leaves the state to attend another school (especially if the other school is in the same conference), then you promise that the kid will have no future outside of football in his home state. “I’m sorry, boy. But you could have had a job selling used cars or insurance anywhere you wanted if you’d have gone to State U. Don’t plan on settling back here, boy.â€"

    I found that amusing.
