My take is that IF Polk is fully recovered and IF Liddell qualifies, then take Evans. However, if Shaw commits today, then it is a moot point. If Shaw doesn't commit and the jury is still out on Polk and Liddell, I just don't think we can afford taking another risk on Evans.
-
I'm not sure what to think about that. Although Evans sounds like a hell of a player and an incredible athlete, do we take another chance on an injured player. All accounts are that Polk has recovered fully, but nobody has seen him play yet (or has somebody?). Could it be that this other spring commitment Brad was talking about was Evans? Maybe he wants to see how he is this season and will offer in the spring?

hmmmm....Mr/Ms. Frericks I presume? Good to have you on board and I'm looking forward to your son kickin butt at the 5 spot this year....

If we don't pick up Shaw, I will not be overly disappointed. No knock on Shaw as he seems like a fantastic player, but I was looking for something else in this recruiting class. That something was the fact that Brad focused on the players he wanted and actually GOT them. We've been talking about Liddell on here for what seems like forever, and due to all the Romar let downs, I never thought he would commit to us. Brad has shown the ability to go after the kids he wants and get them to commit. I'm very happy about that....

I had no idea that Harry Carey ever announced for the Billikens. My knowledge (unfortunately) only goes back a few years. Thanks guys for that cool piece of trivia.

I think Too's gone forever. Like most of the media, soderberg has won him over also. He'd rather run away than become a billiken fan...I think he would melt.
-
Hmmmm, "something special"... What the heck could that be. I can see closing practices if Soderberg wants some alone time with the players, but I wonder what he's got up his sleeve. Also, I guess that anwers some of our line-up questions...thanks for the report.

I elected to stay out of the below contraversy, but am interested on what you guys think about the original post. Can Bryce really start at center this year? I assume a few people have seen some scrimmages lately and has he made that big of a change since the all-star game? Frericks has a year of C-USA experience and a year at JUCO. Bryce is fresh out of high school and from what I've heard needs some muscle. So is Bryce just that good, or are we screwed at the center position this year?

Are there any rumors floating around the PD that you could either confirm or deny what was stated above (us having the inside track)? It sure would be nice to have a full recruiting class before the season even starts.
-
Well, he sounds like a player....hope we pick him up. Thanks guys!

Well, that is good news. It would be great to keep this recruiting momentum going. Question: How good is Shaw? If only SLU and SIU are going after this kid, I'm just curious how good he really is. I have obviously never seen the kid play, but have seen his name mentioned a lot on this board. Would Shaw be a "great get" (like Liddell) or could you see him being more of a role player for the Billikens?

23 and '02 grad from SLU (Parks). Living in Nashville, Tn while working for Vanderbilt University. Been here as an office assistant for the past 9 months and start my new job Monday as a computer systems analyst. I was in the Blue crew when it started back up in 2000, but that was the extent of my D-1 athletics (no shot-put schollie for me coming out of high school ) . Hopefully I'll get back to the Lou for a few games, but am planning on attending the Ga. Tech game in ATL.
Intersting topic D-1....

How about, Did Romar leave SLU in better shape than he found it?

Banned for starting a thread about the karate kid? What's wrong with the Karate Kid...I loved that movie!

It's good to make it official. Awesome commitment for us....
To make sure, this is just a verbal commitment, right?

I thought that was a great article for the program. It appears as if Soderberg has really done something spectacular with the local media. I sure don't know what it was, but keep it up UB!

It's still pretty early for me.....but I don't quite understand Bonner's take on Izik. Does he think Izik is not going to be as good as we think he is....or that if he becomes more physical, Izik will be a great player?

While we're at it; it's Fisher (not Fischer) and Frericks (not Fredricks or Fredericks).
**Just a public service announcement (not directed toward anybody in particular)

Does anybody know if SLU would want Grimes (did we EVER recruit him)? If there are findings at mizzou (and i expect there will be), that could result in some very serious penalties. From everything i've heard about Grimes, he is a big time player and would therefore want a chance to win or even enter the NCAA tourney. I think there could be some defections from mizzou if penalties occur and I think SLU could be in an advantageous position to sign him...especially with signing three other locals.
-
That's a good thing to hear. I don't know much about Maurice Scott, but everything i've heard on this board suggests that he is quite condescending toward the Billikens. If signing a few local recruits can change his mind, it will most likely change the outlook of many STL media personalities. This will not only help us in recruiting, but I'm sure attendance could sky rocket. I think us Billiken fans could have some good times ahead of us....
-
Agreed.....but at least he made it into a big time rap video! lol

Do you know where the conference is being held? Not that I can go or anything, but was just curious if it will be held at SLU (confirmation of his commitment)...or are these things usually held at the students high school?

Ah, 16G....had some fun on that floor. It was definetly a girls floor when i was a freshman in '98. The good ole days....
EVANS VS SHAW

Yeah, I agree. I would like to have Shaw here, but if he doesn't commit, it's not the end of the world. Brad has shown he can recruit good players for our system and he could probably even find somebody better/more athletic.
BTW Rich, everytime I see that Thicks quote, I can't help but laugh...(no offense at all meant to Thicks, it just looks funny out of context)
