  1. If you don't like the posts, don't read 'em. Everybody has their own opinion on soccer, and if Rich wants to bash it, then he should be allowed to. Personally, I can take or leave soccer. I'll root for our team, but you will never catch me at a game. But I sure as heck get a kick out of reading his posts. Rich has had some of the best one liner's in the history of this board....and he is undoubtedly a SLU fan. He has never bashed the team, just the sport. If you want to talk trash and call people an ass, why don't you pick an Anti-SLU fan to take your anger out on.

If you have been here for six months, why didn't you rip on Too when he was destroying the credit of our team and coach?

    Keep 'em coming, Rich!

  2. After reading all these reports (thank you VERY much, btw), it seems the consensus is that JJ came in, hustled, played D, and showed some good athleticism. So, can somebody tell me why his minutes were so limited? I would think that we would need him to contribute as much as possible in these first few games. If he's putting in the effort, why isn't he getting the PT?

  3. I'm sure this has been discussed before, so I apologize in advance for asking again. But why are you so pissed off at Marquette? I'm assuming it is becasue of the game against Southern Miss. And I can't say I agree. Hell, if we had the opportunity to play an extra home game, we better hop on that opportunity (as long as it does not break any rules...and from what I hear that did not break any).

If it's because they moved to the Big East, why are you so upset? The Big East lost some key teams and they had to reload. Louisville and Cincy were gone regardless. So C-USA took a big drop right there while the Big East took a huge step. With Marquette and Depaul joining, they formed possibly the most powerful conference in the country (bball wise). I cannot possibly fathom any school with half a brain turning down such an offer. SLU has done it before (see Xavier and Dayton), but they obviously had no hard feeling toward us.

I'm sure we'll disagree, but I'm very curious to know a legitimate reason for such ill will toward Marquette.

  4. There is something like that in place. I don't know how the heck they did it, but when I was in the Blue Crew, I remember the band would come up with some amazing information. I remember reading where one of the opposing players (i think for cincy) was amazed that we knew such accurate and hard to come by information. If I remember correctly, the kid had left the team for some reason and then came back at some point. The reason was never disclosed and it didn't make the news or anything like that, but somehow our guys knew it. Keep up the good work!

  5. Yeah, Vandy sports do suck....minus basketball. And I know it's all in good fun, but I just can only take so much bright orange. After so many years, it starts to get to me. The really funny thing about UT fans is that, for the most part, they care about nothing other than football. I know many (MANY) people that attend UT or did attend UT and they could not tell me the first thing about UT basketball. When I bring up bball (i really don't care much about college football....other than the tailgate), my buddies just laugh at me and say how much UT baskeball sucks. I just don't get it.

Sorry about all the UT posts, but any Vol talk can get me riled up sometimes!

  6. I completely agree with the fact that we need to support our team moreso that we currently do. Wearing billiken blue on game day is a necessity. I have no problem with fans wearing orange on gameday, that is what they're supposed to do. But the people here in Tennessee take it to a whole new level. It really is quite insane. I am completely honest with you when I say that I have met many UT fans that could not name another conference other than the SEC. The people here in Tennessee make UT football the center of there lives and it makes me sick.....Think of what St. Louis would be like if everyday you had to drive down the street and see black and gold cars with Tigers on the side. Or go to the grocery store and be bombarded by orange signs, banners, and whatever else they feel like. I think SLU needs more support, but keep it classy.

  7. A new rule will be placed into effect 11/10/03....NO MORE TALK ABOUT UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE FOOTBALL!!!!!!

Just kidding...But to be honest with you, I HATE the University of Tennessee athletics. Living in Nashville, I hear nothing but UT propoganda all day, everyday. I see bright orange cars, trucks, and vans with UT streamers and stickers at least 3 times a day...no matter what time of year. Not to mention the fact that acedimics is an afterthought there and these players are making more money that I do. I'm also an employee of Vanderbilt University, so UT talk is not permitted around here :).

Please, continue to talk about whatever you want....I just had to get that off my chest

  8. Congrats Marque!

"Perry is a very tough defensive player from St. Louis, a great defender. He has been to a number of camps. All he needs is more experience."

What's up with that quote? All of Perry's offensive achievements and phenomenal quickness with the ball...and this guy talks about his defense. Just seems like he doesn't know a whole lot about Marque. He could be in for a pleasant suprise.

  9. I'll take what we can get. Yeah, that article was pretty outdated and was not too great. But I remember about a year ago when we were all bitching about not getting any print in the PD. Now we're bitching about the quality. This may not be the best, but it's better than nothing....

  10. This is a pretty ridiculous idea in my opinion. Apparently California is trying to pass a bill to allow athletes to recieve money and hire agents (among other things). This inturn would completely isolate all California schools from the NCAA. Nobody wins in my opinion. The schools lose an incredible amount of money, and the fans are getting screwed. And what kid would want to go to a california school if they could only compete with other schools in the state and for no national title?

  11. C'mon man, get a clue. Nobody here is hating on AD at all. All they are doing is setting some reasonable expectations for the kid. I think everybody here loves the kid. If anything, they are pretty lofty expectations. I feel AD is going to be a crucial part of this team...his heart and skills combine to make him very useful. But you're predicting a 2nd team C-USA player out of somebody who was far from it just one season ago. He had some very nice games, and I'm sure he'll have some nice games this season too...just be realistic. I'm definetly think he can make an all conference team of some sort by the time he's a senior. But to say he's got hops and speed is a little over board. He has a decent vertical and can grab a board or two....but when I see him flying over opponents and doing tomahawk dunks (ala mo jeffers), then I'll say he's "got hops"

  12. I agree with your numbers minus the three's and rebounds. I think Drejaj will have a few games where he will hit 3+ threes, but I don't think that he will average that. I would say more like 1.5 threes per game (average obviously) and 3 rpg. Now that I think about it, 15 ppg could be a little high. I say more around 10....and that is a VERY solid sophmore year IMO.
