  1. I was really impressed with the ESPN commentator's. For the most part, they actually knew what they were talking about. It seems many times in the past, they did no research and had nothing but negative things to say about the team. This time, the majority of the comments were pro SLU and they had some pretty good insight on the team. They loved Sodes and gave a lot of props to everybody....except for the "Frericks just looks like he's gonna foul" comment. But I kinda got a kick out of that...

  2. That is great news. Luke has been the less heralded recruit so far, but he's really kicked butt this season. I have heard a lot of positive things about his game and look forward to seeing him in a Bills uniform more and more.

How about our other recruits? Has their season not started yet? We have had numerous updates on Luke, but I haven't seen anything on Dwayne or Tommie. Any information out there?

  3. C'mon Steve, that's a no brainer!!! Watch the Billikens on ESPN2 or sit through a lecture class in which the teacher will never even notice your gone. You have to watch the game so you can talk smack to all these kids in your dorm who are disrespecting the Billikens. I trust you will make the right decision....

  4. The only reason I'm excited about this game is because I finally get to see the Bills on TV. I am not looking foward to the final score and think it may get embarrassing. I've told a lot of people around here about the game and will probably be watching it with a number of SEC fans. If we get spanked, I will have to put up with a lot of crap....and that is something I am NOT looking foward to. I hate being so pessimistic, but I don't have a lot of confidence right now....

  5. I had a chance to catch inside the NBDL this afternoon and they had the director of operations (i believe his name was Chris Alberts) on to comment about some players. He spoke VERY highly of Marque. He feels it will not be too long before Marque is called up to the league. He was very impressed with his understanding of the game, his explosiveness, and his ability to run the point. He was suprised Marque is doing so well after being pushed into the starting role as a rookie. In his eyes, Marque just needs a better feel for the NBA game before making the move up. As stated below, he is leading the league in assists with 8.3 per game. GOOD JOB!

  6. One of the last ally opp plays I remember seeing was during McClain and Edwins freshman year. I remember Floyd tossed and oop to Edwin an I thought this was going to be the start of a good season and great careers for those two. Well, shortly thereafter Floyd got hurt and Edwin flunked out of school....

Mo had some great ally oops. I believe his reverse ally oop against Louisville made SportsCenter's #1 play of the day....and it was on a Saturday.

  7. Courtside, if I post in a soccer thread, it will be something meaningful. But I doubt I ever will.

As far as my interjection into this debate, it is because goslu was putting down the bball team. I was content to let this whole thing go on as long as need be, but then he went off the deep end. As you defend you're european sport, I feel it is necessary to defend Billiken basketball. To come to a *mostly* basketball board and claim that we should be writing off the bball team and focusing on soccer is ludicrous. You say Rich was just setting us all up to take his side...gimme a break! Judging by his posts, I don't really think he gives a crap who's side anybody is on. But then again, maybe this whole thread was conceived by Rich years ago to start a chain of events that will someday be the demise of the Billiken Soccer squad. Maybe we'll get that stadium on herman field after all....

  8. Ok, now this is getting a little ridiculous. I didn't want to get too involved in this debate, but now that you are casting basketball in an inferior light to soccer, I feel it is my duty to interject. Should I be getting excited because we get to play Binghamton in the NCAA tournament? Who the hell is that team anyway? Are they good? Who the heck knows? Soccer is a second rate sport in this country and imo always will be. We have the highest attendace in the country for our soccer team? Well, being that our field only holds 5000 on a good day, who cares?!. What kind of money does SLU soccer generate? When's the last time you saw a college soccer game on ESPN? Do they even broadcast the final game of the NCAA tournament? I seriously doubt they do. Football (AMERICAN) dominates college athletics, Baskteball is second, and soccer probably plays second fiddle to greco-roman wrestling.

Obviously your intelligence level cannot comprehend the subtle and sarcastic humor in Rich's posts. Don't take this stuff so seriously, it's just a message board. BUT, if you are going to put down the bread and butter of SLU athletics ~ the men's basketball team ~ and try to pass soccer off as the "better" sport, you could be in for a long long season.....

  9. I always used to park on the street a block or two west of Union Station. I never had a problem parking there and it saved this poor college student some good money back then. It was a little bit of a walk, but it was always FREE! (except the one saturday I didn't know the meters were on)

  10. I thought Polk's postition was at the point...am I wrong? All I keep reading is how good this kid was before the injury and if he recovers, he should be awesome. If thats the case, why would AD start at PG instead of Polk (at least the second half of the season)? And didn't coach say he wants TL to play point?

  11. Does anybody know how to hear the game over the internet tonight? I checked Yahoo and didn't see it listed under the games they'll have on today. The slubillikens website used to have a listen link, but I'm not seeing it. This is the first time I've lived away from st. louis since becoming a Billiken fan, and I need my fix!

  12. I was very suprised last night when I turned on FoxAZ and saw Justin Tatum in the lineup. I think it's the first Bill to graduate in the last 4 or so years that I've seen on TV. He looked good, but it was the same ole Tatum. He had some nice moves in the post...but was unable to finish on a lot of them. He was strong...nobody was pushing him around. And he still has a suprisingly small vertical in contrast to his athletic build...

Arizona is going to be an extremely tough game. Team Nike was very athletic and really held there own for a lot of the game. I just can't believe the shooters that Arizona has. I mean, these guys are just lights out. Granted, they did not face the tenacious D that we will provide, but if they have an open look, they WILL knock it down. We will definitely have our hands full, and at this point, I will be happy if we keep it competitive.
