  1. "If these students are truly fans of the team they'll find a way to the game shuttle busses or not."

That is where the problem lies. Unfortunately, most of the students are NOT truly fans of the team. This is evident by our poor student support at games (minus the Blue Crew of course), our lack of student posters on this board (less than 5?), and no pre-game student activities (ie parties, tailgate, etc.) That is why this bus is all the more important. If we truly want student support, I think we at least need to provide them a convenient way to get to the game. At the very least, honor the commitment to trasport them. If a student decides to go to a game, then the bus doesn't show, it definitely could leave a sour taste in there mouth.

  2. We beat USM by one, we lose to 'Zona by 2. Do I think USM is just "3 pts" worse than Arizona....hell no. I think we have a tendency to play to our level of competition. We keep things close and most of the time it is decided in the final 2 minutes. Cincinatti is a great team, but I don't think they are unbeatable. We stick to our game plan, and I feel we can compete with anybody in the conference. I'm not sure if we'll beat Cincy, but it's far from a given loss.

  3. I don't think the problem is that you CAN'T get to the Savvis, it's that the university isn't making it easy. It is pretty widely accepted that SLU students are not the best fans of the basketball team. Just one year ago, I had to defend the team against my friends that were ATTENDING SLU. There is usually a negative undertone to the team as it is. I think we are slowly coming away from this, but the university has to do it's part. Sure the die hards will walk through sleet, rain and snow to watch the games. But the casual bored student would not walk to Savvis or risk a mugging at the Metro Link station. If they pound a few beers in the dorm room, walk downstairs, hop on a bus and arrive at their seats 10 minutes later, it's a different story. This is just one more thing to pile on the list of bad marketing.

  4. Good point. If DC could put in 8-10 minutes a game of solid play, I think it could tremendously help. That would mean all the more rest for our gaurds which would lead to more energy; which is a must for solid defense. I wonder how much this is related to the fact that we didn't score in the last few minutes of the game yesterday.

  5. Ramsey kept saying toward the end of the game how tired Reggie looked. IMO, if we are going to survive in the conference tourney and beyond, we NEED to have some productivity off the bench. We have had two games in four days. Reggie played huge minutes in both. With Brad demanding such high intensity at all times, he is going to need some rests. If JJ or Clarke don't step it up, I'm afraid we may be too tired come the end of the season...

  6. I tend to have the same feelings as Chesseman. I just did not expect Bob Knight to "Nascar-ize" his gameday outfit (maybe Quin, but not Knight). He is always preaching respect and how the game is corrupt. He ******* at media folks for doing their job and hits kids for calling him Bob. He is one of the last "old school" coaches. It would be like Lute Olsen walking onto the court with CarMax on the back of his blazer. I just feel it is very tacky and in some part contributes to the deteriation of the college hoops atmosphere. Sure, Nike sponsors athletic teams. But Nike is an ATHLETIC company that provides necessaties to the team. In this instance, the company is not sponsoring a school, but a coach. If Brad walks out on the court in a Jiffy Lube uniform, i would be very disappointed.

  7. I've given up trying to predict this team. I can look at the schedule and draw up our record, but that usually goes down the crapper after a few games. We win/compete against the teams we should get killed by and get killed by the teams we should beat (ok, killed is a little over board but you get the point). I think we can pull off 12-4. How it goes down though is anybody's guess....one of the best things about being a Billiken fan!

  8. That's what happens when you hold your own against the big boys on national TV. I really thing having the Zona game and GT game on national TV (GT game was on fox sports, but anybody with a satellite can pick that up) has gotten us that level of respect. It is amazing the kind of exposure just 1 game on ESPN can give a program.

  9. Anybody close to the program know what JJ's status for tomorrow's game is. I know if I were him, I would be pretty pissed at K-State after the stunt they pulled with his scholarship this summer. I would bet that the kid is fairly pumped up this week. Hopefully he shows it in practice and Brad gives him a chance to show them what they are missing out on tomorrow.

  10. Yeah, i know. I have Direct TV with both the complete Fox Sports package (about 20 different FoxSports channels)and the ESPN Full court package. I have Fox Sports Midwest; however, as I said above, it will be showing the Big 12 Showcase followed by the detroit/illinois-chicago game.

  11. I don't get it. The game is showing on Fox Sports midwest in two states (according to the k-state website). I just checked the Direct TV guide and it looks like the rest of the country is stuck watching the Big 12 Showcase. I can't wait till we get a decent TV contract, because this one blows....
