  1. Boy I hope not. I would be pretty pissed off if they decided to change it. Aren't TV schedules put out before the season starts and some kind of contract signed? I really have know idea how this works, but I do know that teams will work there schedule to fit TV slots. I wouldn't think they could just change something like this mid-season.

  2. This is the same question that I ask myself every year. I got the ESPN Full Court package this year and have been watching a lot of college hoops. I am constantly seeing schools smaller than us with less success playing very athletic pf's....how does this happen? I know there is much more to basketball than slam dunking a ball, but there is nobody on this team who can execute a highlight reel dunk. The closest thing I have heard of a putback dunk is the putback Tom had last week that didn't even count. Is it really that hard to find an athletic pf that wants to come to SLU? Izik may turn out to be a great player, who knows, but he will never be the kind of guy that takes it to the hole with AUTHORITY. Maybe this player is JJ, but I have a feeling we wont know for another year.

  3. I guess what I don't understand is why Ian is getting good minutes while JJ and Darren sit. Is he really that much better at this point? i have not had an opportunity to watch him play, but from what I have heard, he's kinda slow, hesitant on defense, and still letting his coordination catch up with his size. Am I wrong?

If not, then why isn't JJ playing? Almost every game he's played in, he scores. He is tall and athletic. I understand Brad's practice theory, but i am having trouble understanding why Ian comes in and gets good minutes why JJ and DC are riding the pine.

  4. Yeah, you're just a few blocks from me at Vandy. We should definitely get together for some lunch and Billiken bball one of these days. I'd say let's meet and watch a game, but unfortunately, we don't get too many of those on TV around here. Next week is going to be pretty hectic with our new Children's Hospital opening, but maybe sometime in mid/late February...

  5. IMO, Brad needs to be a little more flexible on this rule. We had a big lead at Charlotte, and in that case, go ahead and take them out. But once he saw our lead getting smaller and smaller, I really think he needed to take a chance and get them into the game. It was obvious that those two were having good games (especially Izik), and taking them out not only cost us points, but it "cooled" off the players.

Obvioiusly, I'm not a coach nor do I have a vast knowledge of basketball strategy, but I really think if they had not sat, we could have won that game.

  6. How hard would it be to get tickets to the UAB game if I showed up on Saturday? I'm contemplating going down there for the game saturday, but probably won't know till sometime tomorrow night. If I show up thirty minutes before tip off, should I have a problem finding a few tickets?

Also, it is hard to get to the arena you guys play in from I-65?

    Thanks

  7. Losing to Belmont and losing to West Virginia are 2 TOTALLY different scenarios. West Virginia is a respected program who just a couple years ago was very close to hiring one of the most well known coaches in college athletics - Bob Huggins. Belmont could not hire the best known coach in Pee Wee league. It is a small Baptist school with barely any sports program. Fantasitic scholastics, but sports are an afterthought. Comparing our loss at WVA to a loss at home to Belmont is a silly thing to do...

  8. IMO, regardless of our national TV exposure, we weren't going to sneak up on anybody for the rest of the season. We are getting into the heart of conference play and have played these teams for years now. Especially after last year, everybody knows to expect a very tough defensive team who likes to slow it down. But with a gameplan like that, we don't really need to suprise anybody. Plus I'm sure everybody in the conference knows we have a top 5 defensive team...

  9. "But the conference that could benefit the most from the Pac-10 and Big Ten's struggles isn't a mid-major, but rather Conference USA.

Cincinnati and Louisville are locks, while Marquette (63) would have to play its way out -- even with a poor RPI. But Memphis (60), Charlotte (34), UAB (31) and even Saint Louis (97) should be in the discussion as the days tick down to Selection Sunday.

"Six of us, and Saint Louis, could all make a run at it," Charlotte coach Bobby Lutz said. "There's definitely a possibility for five teams. I don't spend time looking at it, but I look at our league."

Charlotte has wins at Syracuse and Southern Illinois. Memphis won on the road at Villanova and Ole Miss. Even Saint Louis has a decent win at Dayton."

I'm glad to see we're getting some national pub and all, but what's with all the "even"'s ??

  10. Good call about Tom! He is really becoming a he!! of a player. If he keeps this up, things could turn out pretty good.

Unfortunately, you were a little off on Reggie. I think he only (:)) scored 17. The kid is a heck of a player, I'm waiting for that 25+ game....

  11. I think we could really use Kalen at that fourth scholarship. But I seriously doubt that would happen even if he does decide to transfer. I'm out of the loop in STL recruiting, but everything I read on this board regarding him said that he wasn't even looking at SLU. I don't know why he would change his mind and come here out of the blue, but i would certainly take him. Either way, Quin obviously can say the right things because all these allegations were out in the open when he committed. I'm pretty sure they will both stay put at Mi$$ou.

  12. "b) whether an arena a good ten blocks from the generally accepted boundary of Grand Center should even be considered part of Grand Center in the first place."

Well, I think "a good 10 blocks" might be a bit of a stretch. From the fox theatre to the Waring school is 1 mile at most. And should it be considered part of the Grand Center in regard to the TIF, definitely. The city needs to do their part in cleaning that area up. I used to live in the Drake apartments and the area is basically trash. In the year and a half I lived there, we saw 4 car break-ins in progress in the Drake Parking area alone (one of which we caught, chased down, and detained until the cops arrived :)) Every week, i get an email from SLU telling of another mugging or car jacking in the area. SLU is doing all it can to make the area safer, but it needs help. It's been discussed on here what a new arena can do for the surrounding area (living, eating, entertainment), and this in turn will begin to eliminate the sleeze from the area. SLU has done wonders for mid-town; a few $$ from the government to help combat the problem is the least it can do.

  13. Do we really need another PG? I know it's been said on here that Brad wants Liddell at the point. I was also under the impression that Polk was a point guard also. Is he a 2? Is Lisch a 1 or a 2? It just seems like we will have quite a few PG's, and that is all I've heard we are recruiting. There has to be a 6'7" monster out there to catch all those alley oops our guards will be tossing up!

  14. I think I convinced a few of my buddies to take a tip over to Memphis for the game in a few weeks. For those of you who have been to games there, how do I go about getting tickets? I assume they won't be too hard to come by, but I will need 3 of them.

  15. That's too bad about Marque, but I guess it would be hard to pass on a proven veteran in Charlie Ward. At least it looks like he will have a great shot at it next year. I guess by your comments, Kenny Brown didn't graduate last year? Is he enrolled at SLU for the classes?I hope that knee heals and has another shot at playing professionally...somewhere.
